A bit of advice from experience, I use a barbecue lighter whice works much better and is alot safer for tight areas that need to have shrink wrap done on wiring. Amatures may just have a problem using the heat gun method in confined areas and will most likely melt their project. I am hoping to get my hands on that kit as soon as I catch up on the projects that I am in the middle of. New years resolution is to finish up all the shelf queens first. Great video and nice work as always
Beautiful work! And thank you for sharing your process. It helped with my three-month "Copernicus" build. The light-blocking is a real challenge, and your strategies were helpful!
Coming along great, thanks for the great videos! I did notice one mistake on the kit from Round 2. There should be a raised hump on the top of the secondary hull between the pylons on the silver section that is painted the white hull color, even the 1/1000 scale kit has it and I looked at pictures of the studio model to be sure it's there, easy to fix with some sheet plastic but still this shouldn't have been missed.
You are doing an excellent job on this kit! The paint and the lighting really are making it look great. I am looking forward to the size comparison videos!!😀👍🖖
Your lighting and airbrushing are impressive. One suggestion: rather than risk a heat gun anywhere near styrene, you can use near the tip of a soldering iron to heat shrink wrap. Did you consider adding blinking nav lights?
how long do you let the paint dry before you put the tape on it to mask off the parts....or do you put somthing on the paint to keep it from peeling with the tape.......I have never had much luck with it yet...on year two of modeling and been watching you for a while.....started a channel like you as well not as good though lol.....and tips would be appreciated....
If I were to make a TNG version of this ship, I'd probably give it a heavily weathered look with some possible field repairs (Think the 1701 in Star Trek III how the hull breaches from the previous film were patched) to emphasize its age and give the impression that these ships aren't at the top of Starfleet's refit and repair priority list.
Pardon but it seems a bit odd to have lighting kits for a ship that wasn't known for having many lighted surfaces. No deflector dish, no glowing warp nacelles...
I see that Trekworks.is also building the Grissom! But he is adding more blinking navigation lights than I thought should be on the model! Your thoughts?
I'm so excited to get this model and put it together we will need a 1 350 scale Reliant that would be nice excellent video is always happy New Year
THIS is the kit I've been waiting over 30 years for!!
It looks fantastic. Thank you for showing how to fix the light leak problem.

Running the end of the soldering iron over the shrink wrap a few times works fine too.
Really enjoyed your paint montages you did for this build. Well done.

Happy New Year. Thanks for all the info and tips!
Gotta say this kit looks fantastic and looks fairly easy to light.
Awesome well done !!!!!
It’ll be nice when this kit is actually available. Not at my local brick and mortar shop yet.

Excellent video! The lighting is great and your technique for building is very well done!!❤🖖🙏⭐⭐ Happy New Year 2022🎉
Beautiful work - that is a genius method to find & treat light leaks. Thanks for sharing!
Really nice build so far. I still have a K’Tinga 1/350 with lights to build.
Looking great so far, happy new year to you and your family.
Picking this one up this week….

Great stuff - looks like a very enjoyable kit. I really like that shade of blue you used. Can you tell us what it is, please?
good job
The lower back engine nacelle looks exactly like the back end of the Type II Hand Phaser.

When is this going to be released?
Isnt that back hole a shuttle bay? Just asking becouse if it is its a shame we didnt get a shuttle
What paint color is that greenish blueon the panels?
So does the model explode after you put it together ( or touch it, or bump it, or look at it)? :)

TBH the film Star Trek 3 was set not long after the battle of the Mutara Nebula so the 1701 wasn't in Space Dock that long.
No Aztecs?

👍👌😎🍺🍺🍻🎉

With the way PL engineered the ship for lighting the two beacons on the upper and lower saucer are begging for a strobe effect.
