I never did a tutorial for IS THIS LOVE...but did do a play-a-long to a demo of Bob Marley's band playing this song....slightly different from this lesson.....you sing much better than me...that's why I am strumming and picking along with IS THIS LOVE....Cheers, Aaron from Australia.
I'm from Carbondale, Illinois. It's a small college town in southern Illinois. My family recently visited Hanalei, Hawaii on the Island of Kauai, where I got my uke! And we are moving there this fall. We have the same model of uke.
Hey man, your teaching is amazing! Your exercise about chord timing was essential to learning this and I hope many other songs! Keep up the excellent work buddy! Aloha
Hi Thu! So glad you are learning from my videos, keep up the good work! Singing and playing is tough, the main thing is to make sure you can sing the song confidently while keeping the beat with your strumming hand. Listen to the recording of the song and tap along, sing the words until you build that coordination. Then strum the beat out simply while singing the song (don't use the difficult strum pattern). Once you have that coordination, add the strum pattern slowly and jam out! gluck!
Love these intermediate tutorials Lenny. Are you thinking about adding more intermediate tutorials on great songs like "Let's Get Together" (strum pattern is killing me) or "Honey Baby/Drop Baby Drop?" That would be some kind of awesome. I know people are throwing requests at you left and right. Take it as a compliment, as it just means that people are diggin' what you're sharing. Ingat ka!
that is awesome! yeah kala makes some good ukes. so cool that you're going out to kauai, i haven't been yet but i'm definitely thinking of visiting sometime in the near future. maybe we can jam when i get there =)
Hey Arman! I did a tutorial on Honey Baby so you can probably search for that. Perhaps I should do one on Let's Stay Together, it's a little funk groove with chucks on 2 and 4 but yeah, sometimes the strumming in between is challenging.
I love your tutorials as they are so comprehensive. I've just started learning to play and I've by far made the most progress from your videos and tabs. The one thing I'm struggling with most is how to sing along with my playing. I can do them separately but as soon as I try and put it together it all goes to s*** o.O Any advice or tips on that?
In the intro, after I strum the barred D chord, I'm supposed to pluck the 2nd, 3rd, and end on the 4th string(G string). However, I have a low G string. It doesn't sound right when plucking the low G string. Can you suggest an alternate string or note to use instead? Thanks!!!
I'm really confused by what he means when he says one one for the chord after Am... what chord is that? can someone reach and help a sister pls thanks :) xo
+TIFFANY C. MIGLIALO you just reverse the Am chord and, your index finger will be on the first fret G string and your middle finger to the 2nd fret C string :)
+TIFFANY C. MIGLIALO You're welcome! Omg, I was trying to learn Love Yourself a few weeks ago and yours was the first tutorial I checked out! I loved your cover by the way. Keep it up!
thank you so much!! oh awesome, actually i am having an ukulele night next friday july 26 in japantown-are you in town? so sad i missed this comment last week. hit me up on facebook.com [slash] ukulenny or ukulenny [at] gmail! hope we can cross paths next week.
Man, this is an awesome cover and I am heartbroken that my soprano uke has only 12 frets. It seriously blocks me from the climate of the song. There are the two chords that are : 14 16 14 and 14 14 14 x 14 There is a workaround to the first of those chords. It is constructed from D, F#, and B, which can also be played in inverted form on 9 10 11 x It isn't the same, but still works alright. Unfortunately, it isn't of much use the workaround for the second chord isn't possible :'(
I this is 4/4 time. Or 3/4 cause when you started to play sand show the timing you said "123 another bar " but just by saying another bar it could be another beat
maaaaaaaaaan i'm get super confused when you start talking about the intro! I understood everything else and was so stoked! But I'm stumped. Can anyone help me out?
Awesome! I love your tutorials thanks so much for taking the time to teach us.

I this is 4/4 time. Or 3/4 cause when you started to play sand show the timing you said "123 another bar " but just by saying another bar it could be another beat
for the riff if you are playing on a soprano ukulele, how do you finish it I guess is my question. Because it doesn't have as many frets?
Is that a baritone ukulele?
Can you go over the chunking and strum pattern again? Or go over it in another video? I can't seem to get it down while changing chords.
maaaaaaaaaan i'm get super confused when you start talking about the intro! I understood everything else and was so stoked! But I'm stumped. Can anyone help me out?
