the reason why it is unfinished is because Mario Gonzalez didn't spend enough time because he needed to spend more time with his girlfriend. that's a true story. Active Enterprises was bankrupted and they were bankrupted because they kept releasing unfinished games which are glitchy.
19:02 action 52 wasn’t meant to be a scam per say but it was meant to be a quick cash grab. The people who made it where all amateurs who honestly might have been able to make a good or atleast mediocre game had the dude who hired them had the slightest bit of a clue on what he was doing. Basically Vince Perri saw Video Games as nothing but dumb thing to distract kids and a complete get rich quick scheme to whoever made them. He found a taiwanese knockoff cart and didn’t realize that it was enjoyable because the games pirated on were actually good games, FULL nes games. He only saw the number and price and assumed that he would be able to charge $200 because if every game was a aaa (or as close as it gets in 1991) it would be over 10 times that in his eyes, ingoring that most of these were on the scale of Atari 2600 games and none were on the scale of a published nes game AND the fact the development time was roughly the same as a regular nes game (though this might have been unintentional because he knew literally nothing and is very cheap). He didn’t even understand that quality could be involved or what quality is in a video game and scale of a game was a completely foreign concept to him. Thus action 52 ended up being one of the worst games of all time simply because Vince Perri didn’t know what he doing.
The games sucked but the comics and story had a great concept and potential. A great story idea was there. It may have some problems but a great idea was there. I may write some stories with the same basic plot as the Cheetahman comic but with a different animal. A scientist kills a mother animal and makes them humanlike but also unintentionally gives them actual humanity. It'll be like a spiritual successer.

I think Avgn said that he fraudulently borrowed a bunch of money and got a small number of college students that were beginner game designers to make these games. The makers of this and Action 52 were obsessed with fame and money, yet when they sold their games, they overcharged and it looked like they slapped them together for a quick buck and didn't bother play testing. ...A bit like Mighty Number 9.

DXFan619 Another interesting fact was when you found backside of the cheetahmen comic, you'll saw it had illustration of cheetahmen's action figure. But those figures doesn't exist because nobody wants to buy or manufacturing them. And you supposed to be glad that cheetahmen don't change to a cartoon show because it is a clearly a rip-off from spiderman, batman, ninja turtles and battletoads.
Great review! :) I think the "Action Game Master" was supposed to be the final game for Action 52. Sometime during production they switched it to Cheetahmen, which resulted in the games being combined. That's why the Action Game Master is only referenced in the first game. Cheetahmen, was supposed to be Perri's ace in the whole, which is hilarious because the game is a complete joke.

Action 52 is a huge waste of money. Good thing a lot of people saved their money for a Sega Genesis when the console went down from $200.00 to $150.00 and saved money for Sonic 1, Bare Knuckle, and a few other Genesis titles, while some NES owners saved their money for Battletoads instead of Atrocious 52.
The action game master was from an idea that got scrapped. miiyouandmii2's video covers this pretty well, along with other details about the development of Action 52, I highly recommend it to anyone curious.
