Nature sure recovers quickly when left to it's own devices. Glad to see your gardens doing so well.
That is certainly a thick garden, your comfrey is looking real good.
The keyhole seems a bit to small to function as access. You see that a lot. I think it's often because people want to use a keyhole design in a space that's not really big enough. An option is to just make organic shapes that fit your space. A bean or kidney shaped bed creates an access point without having to commit to the keyhole shape. It's about function rather than conformity.
Screening/fencing with smaller holes will keep the ducks from eating the roots.
The keyhole garden is nice but with that much soil depth, it's kind of wasted on herbs. However, like you said, the herbs feed you and the rabbits, so it's still a good design and effort to have done it.
But the biggest hurdle of making it , has been done so that's awesome!
Yes, this keyhole was an experiment but I definitely like normal hotbeds better. I think it was interesting but not necessarily effective.
Liked that. great Idea.
Great garden! Wish I could have ducks! On a municipal allotment...too many rules!
All Sorts me too! But even though I have my own fenced tiny yard I don’t think the strata in my townhouse complex would be too thrilled about it 😝
Mandy Jensen lol but it would be nice wouldn’t it!
Tell me which video that explains your situation and why you left for 8 weeks etc. etc.
An explanation of the keyhole garden would have been nice for us jystbcoming in, this is more of a look what I grew video. But I'm looking up key hole gardens to be explained to me.
You can go see how I made them in a previous video. At the end of the video I show myself making them.

Dirtpatcheaven got it, I'm glad someone finally explained the purpose of it, thank you
Thanks for your videos, they are packed with info and method.
Do you like ducks better than chickens? How do you like the eggs? Do I vaguely remember that there are food safety issues with duck eggs?
I like both ducks and chickens and use them for different things. The ducks keep down weeds in the mulch and eat slugs. The chickens scratch up the mulch and duck poop so it doesn't mat down and become slime. Both lay eggs that are delicious. I don't know of any safety issues with eggs if you keep them and the animals clean and healthy.
Interested in a keyhole garden but have no mulch. I do have 30 acres of woods with leaves and dead wood lying around. Can you fill with that?
you can fill the bottom with the leaves and dead wood, using the style such as hugelculture (I'm sure that is misspelled).
then the soil, then add materials to compost in the center tower just like normal (leaves are great for that).
Have you considered growing with aquaponics?
Totally organic, plus you can have an occasional fish dinner
an odd flavored salad...lol
Can you wrap it in plastic to keep it from drying out and to keep ducks from eating the roots?
Does it still need full sun? I have a spot under a tall pine that drops needles constantly and next to my grapevines that I’m considering...
that depends on the plants you put in. you can have a shade or partial shade garden that is planted in a keyhole garden design.
You can and should plant a keyhole garden thick. Heavily. It works because it is so deep and the "soil" is so nutritious.
I was so hoping you would take the Cog Hill Farm dance off challenge. You and the girls or you and John! Come on it's not to late!!
You ate so damn pretty! Are you married?
