    As someone who never saw a future for herself but tried to anyway for the loved ones around me, I’ve definitely been a little “behind” in life than others, and felt pressured about that. I should be graduating from highschool this year, but mental health took a toll on me for years and it might take me a little longer than I’d like to get caught up on lost credits. But anyways, It took me a while to think of a career, because I never thought I’d make it to 18. Watching your videos and how well you explain Social Work, and the different kinds of Social Work is very helpful because this is the only field of work I’ve been interested in, so thank you very much! ❤️

    I truly appreciate the simplistic way you briefly broke down each group or area Social Workers work in and the different careers within each subset. I had no idea how much influence social workers could possibly have. However bureaucracy and pushback can occur, I hope to see a time where this influence has stronger legs to stand on so outcome and income are equitable.

    This is so cool! Before this video the first thing that came to my mind when someone talked about social workers was "nicely dressed lady that takes kids away from their families", this was such an eye-opening video! Thank you for making it!

    You did an excellent job in explaining the different areas that Social Workers can be employed. You advocated for the field in a manner that shows your are passionate. Thank for opening the eyes of those outside the field, so they to may be encouraged to look within to help determine whether they possess the gift to work along side us. Again thank you!

    Hi there, this was a really great video, thank you so much for explaining the different roles of what a SW can do! I'm a military veteran and current Firefighter/Paramedic who has been in their own therapy for several years now. It truly has changed my life, and I am working on finishing my BA in Spanish in hopes to look into graduate programs. This video is really helpful because I know theres different routes you can take to become a therapist...but it seems an MSW is more broad than say an LPC or LMHC. again thank you, I can tell you are really passionate about this field! ☺

    Can you please talk about the salary of social workers like your first salary, your previous, or that of other social workers you know without generalizing it by pulling up random range from the internet; that is something that concerns me a lot with going into the field. As it is not talked about a lot in the field. Thanks.

      Hello there. The amount of money you will make as a Social Worker will be based on your field, skills, specialty, certification(s), locations and years of experience . I will suggest using a website like www.salary.com to get a customized salary range.

    • @MillennialSocialWorker
      @MillennialSocialWorker  4 года назад +6

      That is a great question. CPS is not your only option for work in the child and family services field. Depending on your level of education BSW or MSW, you can work as a school social worker, a therapist, a medical social worker to name a few.

    • @MillennialSocialWorker

      A social worker can help the homeless by focusing on areas such as homeless outreach, housing stabilization, mental health services, substance abuse counseling, or advocating for affordable housing and support services.

      The best strategy is to determine what population and field of social work you are interested in and then find a program that best meets your needs. Additionally, talking to an advisor will also be helpful.

      Thank you for watching. I don't have information on how to obtain a license in India. In the States, you have to fulfill certain licensing requirements to obtain a social work license. Please note each state's licensing requirements are different. Unfortunately, I am not able to provide advice on immigration. That is outside of my scope.

    Social Work, Children and Family Services Concentration
    And
    Social Work, Mental Health Concentration
    Would either of those masters degrees I listed apply to the jobs you mentioned? Basically I’m asking are there actual social work master degrees that we should select or are the general or ones above okay?

      The master's degrees in Social Work with concentrations in Children and Family Services and Mental Health should both be applicable to most of the jobs discussed in the video. Keep in mind that the Children and Family Services track is specific to that population. You can select the one that aligns best with your career goals and interests. Best wishes and thanks for watching!

    If I got a scholarship that fully covers tuition at the #10 MSW in the nation (Boston U), but will need to take out 20,000ish in loans in order to pay living expenses (rent, food, etc), is it worth it?? I have no other debt at the moment. And plan to work part-time + live as modestly as possible.. I have lived in the South my whole life and this would be a big change for me but it feels like such an incredible opportunity that I can't pass up. What do you think?
