Sai Swarna Yugam presents an audio jukebox of old and rare recordings of Sai Bhajans sung by the late Sri B.V. Raja Reddy. Mr. Raja Reddy was an ardent devotee of Bhagawan from the early 1950s, the earliest days of Swami's avataric mission, until the last days of his life. He had the privilege of leading bhajans in the Prasanthi Mandir from 1958 to 1983, a stint of 25 long years with the Divine. Devotees who were present during those times would speak of the intense devotion with which Sri Raja Reddy would sing these bhajans in Swami's presence. This video is the first of a multipart series of recordings of bhajans sung in the mandir during those days by Mr. Reddy, most of which have no musical accompaniment other than the harmonium and manjira (cymbals) but which need none owing to the soul-stirring nature of the voice alone. In those days, Bhagawan would dictate the talam (tempo) at which the bhajans were sung with the motion of His hand, starting slow and often ending at 4th and 5th speeds. The resulting progression of tempos can be heard in many of the bhajan recordings presented in this jukebox. We hope you enjoy this rare treasure trove. Feel free to share with family and friends.
