It is unfortunate what happened with Diana, she was beautiful woman in looks and character however in Charles and Camilla’s defense, a lot of what happened had everything to do with “the firm” and public opinion. He wanted to marry Camilla before Diana was even a thought. The truth is Charles always loved Camilla. Him loving her doesn’t make Diana any less wonderful than who she was, he just wasn’t in love with her. Unfortunately the pressure from the outside public opinion is really to blame for the disaster. People ought to be free to love who they love.

Diana entered marriage with Charles in love & trusting too much that her husband will protect her. From the start she already had no chance of a happy marriage because she was duped by Charles because Charles & Camilla never intended to stop their illicit affair. They were hurting 2 families. I have never heard Charles praise Diana in public about how wonderful she is. The Woman who gave him the heir to the throne received her praises from other people but never from the people. The only time I heard the Queen praise her was when she was already dead, not because she wanted to but because she was forced to say something nice to appease the angry grieving people. The Woman who did more for charity & for uplifting the monarchy was never protected & appreciated by Charles Family. To hear him say these things about Camilla is the highest betrayal to Duana, William & Harry. Diana was sure that she would marry Prince Andrew when she grew up. Her family took to calling her Dutch because they were also sure she would marry Andrew and become a Duchess. Once Diana realized that she could actually catch Charles, the chase was on and facilitated by her family.
Diana feigned interest in Charles’ interests and hobbies (Balmoral, fishing hunting, etc.)-basically, she pretended to be who Camilla is, a hunting, shooting, fishing, reading country girl. Then as soon as they were on their honeymoon (most of which was at Balmoral), Diana declared each of his interests as borrrring. When the honeymoon moved on to Balmoral she would have have fits of screaming and crying when he wouldn’t do what she wanted when she wanted him to do it (the court was at Balmoral for the summer so there was official business going on and many witnesses). After the honeymoon she proceeded to, one by one, separate him from his friends (he would give in to avoid conflict with her), then his staff (who would quit because she would not look at or speak to those she wanted to leave.
In her mind, she loved him, but then attempted to change everything about him, and if he wanted any kind of peace, he would comply. Diana and her family, particularly the Spencers, were very ambitious and misrepresented who she was to the RF, particularly regarding her emotional health & stability. The Spencer’s actually had a bit of a reputation for unstable men (Diana’s mom cited abuse in the divorce), but the RF didn’t think the mental issues affect the Spencer women. Diana actually refused to cooperate with mental health professionals provided by the RF when they realized how unstable she was, and wouldn’t accept mental health help for years (yes, the RF tried to get her professional help) until a friend threatened to out her bulimia to the press because she was afraid it would kill her.
And that is just how she treated Charles. As a grown woman she held hostility towards her mother for leaving her abusive father (her mother took Diana & her brother with her but lost custody), pushed her 60 year old stepmother down the stairs (long after Diana married btw), threw her stepmother’s things out the window in trash bags after her father died, fired one staff for claiming expenses with the palace for some trips with Diana (completely legitimate expenses), and fired another who was the currier delivering tapes to Andrew Morten for her for accepting reimbursement from the publishing company.
The virginal “Shy Di” persona was completely a creation of a press. A bit like the common impression that the Queen Mother “sweet ol’granny.”
Diana admitted to straying first from the marital bed, with her affair that began in 1985 with her protection officer, Barry Mannakee.

I find it so pretentious to go talk and play with these kids and visit charities for like 1 hours or less and just get a few footage and photos with so many cameraman and photographers there filming and picturing every move and you do and you are well aware of it. It is not just the affair I just never felt any sincerity with her when she is with this charities. I can't see the passion on her eyes that she genuinely love to help these people. HER car grazed another car which launched faulty airbags (early airbag technology had the tendency to go off in very minor collisions). The Fiat Uno driver was eventually found; just a taxi driver blowing off work.

As a grown married woman, Diana still blamed her mother for leaving her physically & emotionally abusive father, pushed her 60 year old stepmother, Raine, down the stairs, and after her father died put Raine’s belongings in trash bags and threw them out of an upstairs window.

I always felt the queen and queen mother were culprits in the Camilla/Prince Charles/Princess Diana saga. Prince Charles Charles and Camilla were extremely compatible and fell in love very quickly but were not allowed to marry because Camilla was a commoner and not a virgin. I adore Princess Diana and hate that she was perhaps the greatest victim of the forced marriage.
It was tragic; the whole thing was tragic. In the end, I don't blame Charles, Diana, or Camilla for this disaster. They were pawns of a matchmaking scheme made by others. Diana, it goes without saying, got the worst of it. I don't think Charles regrets the marriage to Diana because he got two fine sons out of it, and, contrary to gossip, he did try to make the marriage work, but nothing could be done to rectify what was obviously a mismatch. The Royal Family didn't make the same mistake again with regard to Prince William. He picked who he wanted and made sure he made the right choice. So far it appears to have worked out.

I totally agree.... it was an unkind, convenient mismatch by her Majesty, not just because Camilla was a commoner but also because she had a past with guys and they wanted a virgin, unspotted lamb...Pathetic, but I'm actually glad they married eventually. I couldn't stand Camilla for many years, until I discovered they were so in love with each other from young, way before Diana. As much as I loved Diana and that she and Charles had two lovely sons, it was horrendous manipulation. Camilla and Charles both seem happy and content, happy for them as we all strive for that. Now I know why the Palace have ultimately accepted Camilla. The woman is obedient. She does everything the Palace tell her to do. She is like a puppet. She does everything they required of her and follow all rules whether it is right or wrong. She do not question them. Diana on the other hand is independent and she stand for what she think is right. It's not about petty or ugly, it's about Camilla being complicit in the mental health break of Charles wife. She was young, impression and fragile when Charles married her, and he broke his marriage vows. Camilla did the same and went back to Charles knowing he was married. Royalty or not, they were wrong and Diana was not taken care of as a woman, wife or mother in the firm. Whatever she did or didn't do, it was a result of how he and Camilla acted.
