Your builds are godly Bro, I learn so much about this game from watching your vids. You helped me break into Core difficulty and sold me on Human MC's. Cheers!
This build is sincerely so satisfying to play. Using it for my first playthrough in Wotr, playing on core. Just got to Act 4. Managed to kill darrazand 100-0 with my main character in the first round of combat (without mark of justice!) I installed this game at the suggestion of a friend saying I could play as a demon, and this build has enabled me to satisfy that power-fantasy. Huge thanks to you for all the effort you've put in compiling resources and making guides.
I think the Dragon bite from Dragon Disciple prestige class is the highest damaging natural attack in the game - as long as it is primary weapon it uses 1.5x STR modifier. And it has crazy synergy with Shifter's Fury - normally, if you wield a weapon, the Dragon attack counts as secondary weapon, but with Shifter's fury on (yes, you can use Shifter's fury while not shapeshifted and still wielding a weapon) it becomes primary. With all of the attacks alongside all weapon attacks, similar as in your build!
I know this is a heavy necro, but maybe someone can answer this: would this synergize as a dip for the rageshaper? 15 Shifter 1 spontaneous caster 4 DD?
@@glitchkriegreloaded1827I'm afraid my post has not aged very well. In current version of the game DD bite does not provide 1.5x STR modifier (even though the description says so) just a regular 1x. Furthermore, Shifter's fury now turns off weapon attacks completely so that's gone too. Well, except unarmed - Shifter's fury does not turn off unarmed (yet), so 10 rageshaper, 5 drunken master, 1 any spontaneous, 4 Dragon disciple still works nice with 5 unarmed attacks and 4 bite attacks. But then again you don't need DD for the bite - you can use any bite (or gore) source you like and it will work just the same. So maybe 10 rageshaper, 10 drunken master with any bite/gore (razortusk/motherless/close to abyss) on the Shifter's fury would be best now.
@@palid11 You can also go Bloodseeker for the bite attack if you want (or Serpentine bloodline of any Bloodrager archetype). Also with the nerf to Shifter's Fury turning off weapon attacks, Demon might no longer be the way to go. Trickster, Legend and even Lich might be better.
So I was thinking about this, I think you can give up 1 level of this class and pickup stig witch, and completely negate the fatigue effect and get a buttload of AC as well
Tabletop Tweaks breaks this build unfortunately. You need to turn off 3 settings: 'disable polymorph stacking', 'disable polymorph size stacking', and 'disable size stacking' to allow devestating form to not be suppressed by demon forms.
@cRPGBro Thank you so much for your videos, which allow me to learn a lot about game mechanics. I'm not sure I understand how to play this character until I get the demon forms. Should I use a spear with “reach” or not equip a weapon and use “slam attack” as a primary natural attack? Thanks in advance!
One thing I am not sure whether you have tested. Shifter's rush on the face of it seems like its a pretty useless feat, but do you know if you combo it with a form that has pounce and then immediately switch to a form that has a more desirable set of traits once in combat? Say pounce with tiger or raptor, and then switch to wolf for you trip attacks? It could have its uses.
Not sure if they made a ninja patch, or mine isn't working correctly, but my Fiendflesh Shifter can't select the Abyssal Magic Gore for the Shifter's Fury. :(
So, until you hit Mythic lvl 7, you won't be able to use your Gore attack for Shifter's fury since it's not a Pimary Attack. Funny enough, if you're a Tiefling and take Motherless for the bite, or Wolf Scarred face, they count as primary attacks and you can use it for Shifter's Fury.
I mean, if you're burning a feat in martial weapon profuciency, you might as well forgo Pickpocket and get a background that gives you Longsword or Falchion proficiency. You can even go half orc for the free falchion proficiency.
That is true, indeed! It's just that Longsword and Falchion prof. will be "dead" until around level 17-18 when you get the ultimate forms that actually wield these weapons.
I'd go with Leader as the Background and Motherless Tiefling for race. Perfect ability score modifiers for a shifter and an extra bite attack for early game. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a background for falchion.
I had noticed you can apply shifter's fury to natural attacks and still be full attack progression with an armed attack. I was thinking maralith, though I was concerned that repeated tail attacks would break your attack action due to knockback. I am also not sure shifter aspects are strong enough to warrant going beyond shifter level 6. Wolf only benefits natural attacks and inherent strength bonus of mammoth is on +2 modifier larger than the tome. I would have thought both slayer and mutation warrior would boost overall damage much more.
I tried it with Marilith, but by applying Shifter's Fury to the Tail, I lost all secondary Longsword strikes. So I decided to go for Gallu, which also has a much better weapon for criticals, and can have its weapon buffed. The many secondary Longsword strikes from Marilith cannot however, so you just end up with a lot of +1 Longsword attacks.
@@The-Great-Penguin Pretty sure it works with any natural attack, though the close to the abyss gore is probably a better attack to use as its not tied to rage and without tireless rage (you cannot get shifters fury and tireless rage without legend), having your preferred natural attack tied to rage isnt ideal. Even with tireless rage, I expect your bite would be unselected after each combat when the bite attack goes away, which to be honest is just a pita.
The first Demon Shifter also works, but since you have access to the Wolf & Raptor forms, you don't really need to bother with the Demon forms for either looping attacks + knockdown or numerous attacks/round + free Pounce. Of course, you can still do it if you want!
I do! I have a run for it a the moment where I want with Elemental Rampager because I never tried it before, but that was before the Shifter release so I'll see if I use Dragon Shifter just for thematic.
On an elemental rampager run at the moment. I am going angel, then going legend to get 20 elemental rampager and 20 either shifter or fey shifter (thematically, I prefer the former, but honestly, fey shifter is very likely more OP). Full angels buffs might be worth dropping trickster feats for. 35 BAB, +5 to hit and damage and 3d6 fire damage from rage and all druid specific buffs like thornbody, natural rhythm etc.
Try going into settings at the very beginning, and turn on the setting where only active characters gain XP. Since you have fewer than 6 party members at the time, the net result will be an XP boost for your active characters. Once you have access to a full party of 6+, you can turn that off, but it provides a nice early boost to XP in the prologue. If you REALLY want to min-max, you can also turn on "only skill user gains XP" before skill checks your MC will be doing and turn it off before skill checks another party member will be doing, but that's annoying to keep doing for not too much reward.
Sadly nowadays I realize it cannot be acquired normally, at first I thought it would be in the Shifter DLC. You can just use Amulets of Mighty Fists +5 for example instead.
Yeah, I feel the same way, Balor looks the best! Balor form can work just fine as well, it's just not as "optimal" as Gallu, but still quite powerful with this build. Ideally you want to get Focus + Critical into Longswords because that is the Balor's main weapon attack type.

For me, all the teamwork feats are bullshit. Who doesn't like Outflank? Me, that's who. You have to take any of them you want on at least two party members - and preferably four, which eats four seperate feat slots (or eight if you like Precise Strike/Allied Spellcaster for your casters) and the Cleave line is also a trap. I really wish it was just ONE feat. The same thing with the demoralizing feats - they aren't as "powerful" if you need to waste near 5 feat slots in a total of maybe 8 given, to get the feat to work the way you want it to. If EVERY CLASS got a feat every level; fine. Then you can make me waste as many feats on that shit as you want. Fighter can get 2 feats every 2 levels then, to keep their ONE real benefit as it stands. I'd much rather have more feats that focused on DIRECT damage upgrades, or durability. I also hate relying on Critical hits. It's rolling the dice on whether you get the damage you want/need or not. That's not the way real warfare would EVER work. Or letting us ignore the dumbassed debuffs of Fatigue/Exhaustion or Flat-Footed (which shouldn't be applied damned near every combat encounter: That's NOT how it works!) I've had characters with 20 base Con and the starting background that gives you endurance, and they'd Still get exhausted at near the same pace as characters who don't have any of that, or half so much in Con, when I picked Atheletics/Lore Nature as my trained skills. That's fucking ridiculous. The feats like Power attack only add +1 to your damage and make you take a negative to your ability to attack - Which is bullshit in a game where every enemy has such high AC to start with. It gets worse as you get stronger, and that applies to Combat Expertise and Pirhanna Strike too. Same thing with Fighting Defensively, and Crane Style needs you to waste like 3 feats to take the LEAST amount of penalty to your attack rating. JUST to make one bullshit ability remotely worth using. I play exclusively on Custom to make the game as easy as possible, and don't even get me started on the Secret Ending... I'd be here all day talking about how fucking retarded that whole concept is, based on the Lore around the MC. [I know what he/she IS. I had the core rule book for AD&D that dealt with Epic Destinies. I know what he/she CAN become; and by raw dint of how they were written should already just BE by the ending] *I do NOT at all like the idea of having to use weapons on a character class whose whole thing is using no weapons but their own BODY. I don't even like to give a monk, monk weapons. Monks really should be FISTS only. I should not need to take a long spear or any other freaking kind of weapon in order to properly function (and Demon forms SHOULD USE CLAWS! Only - screw needing to take a weapon proficiency feat just to make it so your demon formcs can hit things like they're supposed to = That's what Master Shapeshifter should be for) Frankly you used to be able to take one rank of Oracle, go for any other curse but Lamed, and take Lamed with Beneficial Curse = Bye Bye Exhaustion & Fatigue. For whatever reason, it doesn't seem to work anymore. So I'm wondering if they changed the coding to it Has to be the oracle levels you need to make it work. (You also only get a max of 6 mythic abilities - sacrificing one Skill slot to get an extra. So overall I find the "mythic" stuff fairly underwhelming: Most of the skills only give you like 1-2 extra damage per rank, and or 1-2 extra attack rating. Whoopie!) * Impossible Domain, Ascended Bloodline, Beneficial Curse, Leading Strike etc are all the things that should have been what every true mythic skill/feat is. They're where the fun's at for me. As someone that wanted to like/beat Kingmaker: We TOLD Owlcat what didn't work in that game. What we didn't like, and wanted to see gone. You wouldn't believe how long and how many playthroughs it took me to even get to the Stag Lord... Jesus. PTSD just remembering. They promised it wouldn't be in Wrath; and instead they doubled down on the bullshit mechanics. That, beyond anything else is why the achievement section for number of people completed is in the freaking 0.X decimal points for most of them. Most people haven't even gotten to Drezen. Never mind past it. To this very day. The city building/army management could and SHOULD have been story board sections, with choose your own adventure choices and minor consequences, and BE DONE. No riddle/puzzle BS. Nenio could actually have MITIGATED that by solving them all for the players who don't like that crap. Then she would actually be much better received overall, and a LOT more useful to keep in the party beyond making her a loremaster skill monkey, Buffer toon. The end choice should have just been for whatever Mythic Path you're playing; Do you want to be a God or not? Yes. Good. You're a God. No, fine... here's the ending for the mortal version of what you became. While we're on it, the Mythic Paths really should have JUST been a secondary level up system. They didn't need to be done at specific events - You SHOULD NOT be able to MISS one, or fuck them up at all. They are the ENTIRE POINT of the game! Other than the points I loathe, I do love the potential in this game. For raw choice, and replayability. But damn do I think there were several things Owlcat absolutely screwed the pooch on. Doesn't mean I don't want Rogue Trader to come to consoles, but I am going to be wary of trying it until a price drop. Even if it does. I've been trying for about a year - and then a very long break to come back to it recently - to beat this damned game ONCE. Just once. The furthest I've gotten was my Azata playthrough, to Act 4. What did they do? Aside from not clearly marking what the main quests were to be able to get the hell out of... well, hell - they turned the whole freaking map into a giant goddamned Rubix Cube. Why??? Who the hell greenlit that concept, and better yet, who thought it would be FUN? >.< (That's not even to mention that outside of very few mythic paths you can choose, most of them get screwed by the queen and stripped of title; and when you do get back most of the progress you made to build your armies is just FUCKED because Galfrey SUCKS as a military leader. Again = Thank you. So. Much. Owlcat. Gah) * That point wouldn't be so bad if we could actually USURP Galfrey at all for the rest of the game. Then bugger off to the higher planes if we so choose as our ending. No "secret" involved. I'm actually mixed on whether I like Rageshifter over the base Shifter. I'm more of a multi-class guy for how easily you can make dips abuse mechanics; and the pure runs always seem to bore me. But I did want to try a run that was like the Incredible Hulk. I'm just not sure I can make my guy work as well as the base shifter.

I've had characters with 20 base Con and the starting background that gives you endurance, and they'd Still get exhausted at near the same pace as characters who don't have any of that, or half so much in Con, when I picked Atheletics/Lore Nature as my trained skills. I know what he/she CAN become; and by raw dint of how they were written should already just BE by the ending]
*I do NOT at all like the idea of having to use weapons on a character class whose whole thing is using no weapons but their own BODY. I don't even like to give a monk, monk weapons. Monks really should be FISTS only. I should not need to take a long spear or any other freaking kind of weapon in order to properly function (and Demon forms SHOULD USE CLAWS! Only - screw needing to take a weapon proficiency feat just to make it so your demon formcs can hit things like they're supposed to = That's what Master Shapeshifter should be for)
Frankly you used to be able to take one rank of Oracle, go for any other curse but Lamed, and take Lamed with Beneficial Curse = Bye Bye Exhaustion & Fatigue.
The game is piss easy, chill the duck out.
