I really like Bryson Dechambeau as well, because he's an original, plus he gets relentlessly bullied by the Koepka/Johnson crowd because he's so much smarter and good-hearted than they are. Played there in 1987, nothing like Royal Birkdale with its huge dunes, Hoylake is very flat and shares the land with with a racecourse. But I putted my head off and got around in 75 with a 35 on the back 9...my best score on the “open” courses....at that stage Hoylake wasn’t on the rota.
