I GO TO BERLIN OFTEN I WILL BE THERE THIS AUGUST.WHEN THERE ALWAYS GO TO KADEVE FOR COFFEE AND PASTRY THATS ABOUT MY BUDGET AND SOMETIMES IN CAFE HAVE A GERMAN DISH RUELADEN.

When I went, it was mid to late November, so it was Christmas season. They may do this all the time, but someone out front was selling roasted chestnuts. I never went to the top floor, but that food floor was insane. Technically KaDeWe is one store, but it beats any mall in the US I've ever been to. I did go in some other stores in other cities there on a different trip H&M and some other store that's well known.

I was in there around 2003 or so. I was thinking to the best of my recollection that this place was aimed at upper middle class for the most part. I was with a German girlfriend who was looking for Christmas gifts for her daughter.
