Some context▾
Lee is responsible for Michael's death as she was the one who made the plan, Elizabeth has little to no memories before the fire.
William wants to have a better relationship with his children then in the past.
Isabelle and William made a "deal" which is why he [William] let's her stay in the house.

The illusion disc gives off a high frequency vibration that tricks the seers mind. The high-pitched frequencies that the discs give off constantly changes. The noise is only detected by the subconscious, which becomes overwhelmed with the patterns. This causes the listeners' perception to change to what they expect to see, not of what it really is. A side effect can be sickness or headaches to those seeing the illusion.

Here’s how actually illusion disc works:
It creates a sound (similar to the ringing in ur ears) which confuses brain and makes it see an illusion. (Works on a specific distance) If u don’t have a brain, u shouldn’t see the illusion (not sure abt this part) so logically speaking (writing) some characters should see eachother normally
It was explained in “the fourth closet” :D
