Every generation builds on the generations before them and then adds their own spin and norms to define their own generation. So bottom line, the generations are all connected, and the Millennials, who you like to make your rivals, you have more in common with than you may think, just due to again, the nature of the beast. And by the way, until you can prove you are smarter than I am (which you can’t on the current medium) give it up! Make yourself a useful and respectable part of society and bitch about the things that really matter in this world- COVID, voting rights, etc. Your choice of rivals, unfortunately, shows your lack of maturity. @@Paulharrisslennon you gotta be fuckin with us. Playing like Perkins is impossible for even most 20 year olds. Perry lost his range and a lot of his force due either to age and corniness or his neck surgery. Whatever the cause, he went from wearing spandex shorts, headbanging his dreads, leaping off the drum platform and writhing on the ground all while singing, to just hopping up and and down on his toes a little, lifting his arms in the air above his prentiously groomed hipster short hairstyle and carefully holding the mic like a vase that he doesn't want to drop. It's been the most disapppinting and noticeable decline in any front man's performance in rock in history. Cringe af, even his monologues between songs turned into meaningless cliché bullshit. He used to be an interactive activist and innovator, playing off of the audience. Now he just gives them empty banter about not much, because he's aware that he has been known for joking and connecting. It's a damn shame. Perry looks like scoliosis is setting in while Dave gets in better shape every year or at least maintains his late-20s looking body. They've both binged heroin for decades etc, on and off, so the difference between them must have something to do with genetics, in part. Maybe Perry has Low-T too, hence the high voice. Idk maan

I thought he looked like someone put a steel pole in his ass at Hammerstein by comparison to the Perry I was used to seeing perform, so imagine MY surprise here.
Age will do it to ya, and there's usually no shame in that, at all (not that there is in this case either), but he looks disabled. The way he moves is all stiff and corny like a goofy ass puppet. He looks like a Disney animatronic. Can't wait to see it on the Jane's Addiction ride in 2030.
It would be cool if there were a part where you roll around a fake city corner at 2am in a Cadillac and pass by him and Casey scoring horse in an alley🤣

It's always hit or miss with Jane's because the entire show hinges on Perry's performance. Unfortunately, his vocals were a bit of a miss here.

Jane's is still amazing and I've seen them many times throughout the years' alto, i think Perry was much better when he was talking with bugs....and in his alternative universe....I dont condone drug use, but......there are many that used it to their advantage, off the top of my head....Kurt Cobain, Hunter S Thompson, William S. Burroughs, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jerry Garcia, Pig Pen, Jimi Hendrix, Jack Kerouac, Ken Kesey and countless others through centuries....I do not condone this, as this was many great artists downfall....just saying Perry Ferrell was better when he was....um, out there.....

As I'm listening to this in headphones, I'm definitely hearing a separate rhythm guitar in the right ear, which surprised me. It sounds full, though, and that's great. (As I'm further into the set, there's a keyboard now as well.)
As for Perry's vocals sounding a little worn here and there - although I think it opened up a bit as the show went on - I'm wondering if (aside from age, possible throat infection, jet lag, being blown out from a previous performance, etc.) it has anything to do with him having surgery to replace discs in his neck, where he stated in an interview that they had to "take out his voice box and place it on a table."
Aside from that, they're an incredible band of performers with great songs that I've followed for decades.
Oh, and the dancers on stage don't hurt either. :D

The audience is better to listen to an italian tenor than to Jane's Addiction. Was that show in the USA? Can't understand. If it was in Brazil, that would never happen. People here would really react at same energy level as Jane's's.

how they haven't been inducted into the R&R HOF, is beyond me...especially in light of all the scrubs that have been inducted. I mean, really. I first saw 'em in '86 at The Roxy in LA...I mean, thats a long time for a band to stick together without falling apart. And yet, no induction for the sheer beauty of this incredible band's music?...yea, ok. They're as crucial of America's musical culture as the Stones.
I'd rather see a sea of lighters , than gd cell-phones . If you missed history, life, R&R, partying, before cell-phones,
you REALLY missed it .

Perry sounding feeble... Dave in his element... Steven is the real horse, I have come to like his work in Infectious Grooves more more than Jane's. I still love this band, but it is as if they realized that they should have never hung it up when they did, now its too late to get it back
well said, I saw them in 91 in a venue of 5000, blew my mind, saw the very first lalapalozza in phnx, disapointed, these guys had the world and tossed it away on some pretext that they wouldnt sell out, and so they end up like BOC or worse, saw them in 03, was re hash, if they had gotten over the initial fame and returned to art they would be where the chillis are, but they blew it, now they look silly, old and decrepit one hit wonders... but steven is the real deal.

I agree crowd sucks. Saw Perry and the Band in Louisville KY and the crowd was electric. Band had their girls swaying in swings 30 feet above the stage. Freakin awesome

Perry might be the best lasting lead vocalist in heavy music history. He was 50 or so here. Most every other 50 year old metal or Rock singer would be cheating on notes and breath long before that and still not able to hit them. Bruce Dickenson might be the only exception. This dude has a style that's brutal on the pipes and the muscles of the torso. It's amazing he can how the notes he does and not fall out

I am all for bootleg recordings, and all for people making their own documentation with cameras, video-recorders, cell phones, etc, it's great as a culture, but the level of it, the sheer numbers now where MOST people in the audience are holding up a phone, staying stock still, is just stupid and neurotic: no one at a rock concert can dance or move to the music, nor take drugs, nor make out, nor strip & get busy, nor pogo, nor rock out because everyone has a phone in his or her hand. That's not rock n roll; sorry folks, it's Amateur Film School. Nor does this shift to wholesale, tepid and timid voyeurism have anything to do with merely "Millennials"----as if we need still more hostility between the generations, and my God, in rock n roll, where many of us were mentored into the music and life by people 5, 10 or even 20 years older than we were. " I'd love to...Turn You...On" and so many did. Let's not make this another internecine, asinine conflict. The problem is that some people at rock concerts still want to behave as if it is actually a rock concert and from Melanie to Jane's Addiction performers have made remarks condemning " not being fully in tbe moment and not experiencing the music AS IT IS BEING PLAYED " because of the cell phone obsession. OK? "Live" means Live It not just " preserve it." But thanks especially to those fans and bootleggers providing a history and the pleasure with some of the greatest versions of already great songs ever recorded. Both are right. But allow some people in the crowd to rock out as it is a concert.
