- Playing this, it makes me a little sad. They had such a strong base with this game, and they went away from it. I am the Lakers here vs the Celtics on the hardest level.
Sorry I couldn't get the W, I made some costly mistakes in the 4th quarter. But as you can see from these highlights, Live 10 is not a bad game, far from it. It's actually solid, with good graphics and an even better atmosphere. A lot of good bones to the gameplay.
Their crowd reaction/ atmosphere was way ahead of 2K at that time in my opinion

it might sound silly, but one of the reasons i loved this game was the net animations, it just satisfying, 2k's net movement is so jiggly and unrealistic

The Best NBA live I ever played
It certainly is the most well rounded gameplay wise on last gen, and beats out this gens NBA Lives overall as well (With Live 19 having some positives before they ruined it with patches)
This game is easy to get immersed in, and overall feels fun on the sticks. They did a lot of things right with this one.

This game litterally has all Kobe mannerisms .. definitely the best nba live .. then 06 05 04 . ... EA can literally remaster this game with updated rosters .. and bee game modes and win

Unlike 2K, this game felt like you were actually playing in the real game. In the real arena. With the real players. The special dimensions of the arenas were so on point. And above all else the movement of the players was sooooo fluid. 2K has always been too herky jerky. And lagging. My mind is always going further than the players in 2K and it drives me crazy. Live was always precise and clean cut.

The atmosphere here is soooo much better than any 2k, in 2k the crowd and announcers can feel robotic at times.
This game is hype. The crowd is the best part and this wasn't even finals atmosphere (even louder I think). If you trade rasheed Wallace back to Detroit they still yell “SHEEEEED” whenever he gets the ball.

Man the jumpers were so smooth. I miss the feeling of those jumpers.
The Paul Pierce jumper at 4 minutes and 9 seconds was pretty authentic

Honestly my favorite basketball video game to this day; I still play it. Atmosphere is fantastic, most fluid NBA Live ever felt, plus, the players actually moved around the court. Every other basketball game I've played, your cpu teammates stand still expecting you to do something. Makes moving the ball some much easier.
The atmosphere and some of the faces (like wade) are amazing, crazy to think they thought they had to start from scratch with elite 11 and still has never caught up since. Also the net in live is always amazing it’s so satisfying to swish a shot, something 2k still lacks.
What a wasted opportunity by EA. Most definitely this game provided the foundation that they should’ve built off of. Game was exciting and FUN. I actually like live better than 2k, always have. I wish they would stop trying to be to be 2K. Live has the right blend of arcade and authentic gameplay. Build off of Live 10 and 19 by introducing better game modes, options for playing season or playoffs, add legends to play in the game( Barkley and Miller) without grind for them and maybe include NBA Street mode! Please EA, you have the resources and foundation for a great basketball game. Not everyone wants to play 2K.

Going from Live 10 to Elite 11 was such a drastic fall from grace. I played 2K11 that year and never looked back.
The best Live ever!!! I went to Retro game store and I brought Live 10 again and this time I am keep it. The defense is way ahead of thier time plus the DNA and the update roster everyday. Is Live coming to next gen could consoles? IDK.

I was playing on the PS3 emulator, I have the game for console but wanted to be able to play it on PC because that's how I like to game.
I recorded the highlights using ACTION! Video recorder. I've been using it for a couple years and its never let me down.

it feels great to play it, i still have it on ps3. gameplay is way better than 2k. imo 2k is nothing but hype and music, thats all. but this ea sports game is about gameplay. and now that im buying ps5, i hope ea sports come up with live 21, i would choose it over 2k21, and something prob nobody has yet mentioned > commentary was godlike, can a game have marv albert again, that was sick

I've been a 2k since 1999 but this was a great comeback for the Live series and they dropped the ball because they were more worried about money than sustainability. They were already robbing the game blind with the exclusive rights to NFL games with Madden. But I believe ultimately they're greed is what put them out of business with the NBA games. #sad

NBA Live 10 and NCAA 10 aren't bad and just might be the most realistic EA basketball games ever. Doesn't make them great. Spoiler Alert... they aren't. Unfortunately I view their awesome playoff atmosphere as another example of EA focusing more on what's going on off the court instead of focusing more on gameplay. It's a damn shame EA has the exclusive NFL license. Damn it sucks seeing Kobe here. Tough to get over.
We disagree here.
This is one of the titles where they actually DID focus on gameplay. Players have size-ups, the shooting forms for so many players are solid (Pierce, Kobe, etc), the action feels like it's the right pace, many of the moves to the hoop feel organic and look pretty awesome, etc.
They also did a good job at making defense fun to play. Players slide feet realistically, blocks overall dont feel canned, etc.
This game is a legit competitor to 2K10 from a gameplay standpoint. I have both installed and play both. Live 10 was received well not only based on its presentation&/atmosphere, but on the gameplay and overall feel of it on the sticks. They absolutely could have built off this and had many more successful titles following it had they not tried to go in an entirely different direction (and they lost Mike Wang)
I agree with what you are saying in regards to titles like Live 14. Live 16, Live 18 etc. Where not only did the games lack depth, but the gameplay clearly wasnt focused on as much as the presentation.
NBA Live 10 is one of the exceptions on this gen and last. A clear effort was put into the gameplay, and you can feel the effort when you are on the sticks. Is it a GREAT basketball game? No, I agree with you on that. But was it a legit competitor from a gameplay standpoint to 2K10? Yes. 2K10 was plagued by gravity issues in the game on defense and on offense, being sucked into other players consistently, overpowering offense going towards the hoop, and an overall poorly functioning post game.
I like both titles, but if someone said they liked Live 10 better, I would understand why.

Dynasty mode was completely broken in this game. That was a big problem for me and probably other sim guys
