The relationship Em and Dre have formed over the years is really something very special. Dre gave Em the chance he needed and he delivered ten fold. His appreciation and gratitude is such a beautiful display of loyalty
Cuz Dre literally risked EVERYTHING for Em... he was already on thin ice, and he brought in a white dude to a genre that was all black... He took a huuuuge risk that could've fucked them all up, probably ruined rap entirely for a while. I'm so glad it worked out, their friendship is just so wholesome and inspiring

my father died a few years ago. every time i listen to this song i can see him wasting away in a hospital bed, dying slowly painfully and all i can do is watch. every time i listen to this song i break down and cry lamenting over the decisions i made and the ones i should have made instead. this song conjures visages of him to show how disappointed, angry, sad, and ashamed of me he would be. how i failed him over and over before and after he died. how he had great hopes for me and my future and i fell short into mediocrity. but as I'm drowning in this self hate he reaches down and places his hand on my shoulder saying, "hey, buddy. it'll be ok... you just gotta get back up and try a bit harder." and for that fleeting moment the images of him mad and ashamed fade away and i can feel his warmth hold me like he always did... then the song ends and he is gone... and i remember ... my dad is dead... and will never hold me lovingly like that again.
