- Joe Mack Roy, affectionately known as "Pop" from Pop Watch, passed away at the age of 90. His death occurred on Wednesday night, and it has left many fans and loved ones mourning his loss. According to his grandson Jason, Joe succumbed to complications related to a mass in his throat.
Jason shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, revealing that Joe passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family by his side. Brother I lost my Dad in 2019. My children would share videos of y’all because it reminded them of their granddad (my pop). We went through the same medical situation…my Dad went to hospice care and died 23 hours later. Bless you all and know you will see him again! God Bless from Virginia
My daddy passed in June of 23 and he was always a very stubborn man but when I told him it was OK to go he went 😢 It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do!!! My heart breaks for you all 💔

He was like a grandfather to all of us. I told my wife if we were ever near there I really wanted to come and meet you guys in person. Give Nan and the family our love.

Jason, I lost my Papaw at 96 in 2000. We had the same level of relationship as you and Pop, daily contact and lots of road time mixed with him chewing my but. You will be blessed for the rest of your life knowing you honored his love for you and were there with him. You spent quality time with him when he needed you most. I never adjusted the passenger seat in my truck when he left, wouldn't allow anybody else to either. Papaw's seat was a constant, never wanted to deal with the chewing if he got in and it was not how he left it. Bless you for honoring your Pop, it is a dying legacy of respect that our society has seemed to have forgotten. Nan will need you now more than ever.

I always wake up much earlier than my wife and on Saturdays I like to try and not wake her up and just stay in bed for an hour so she can get more sleep. I’d usually spend that hour catching up with Pop. Saturday mornings just won’t be the same. RIP Pop, true legend that made so many lives better!
