Henry AR-7 Survival Rifle - My Reliability Problem Solved?

- In my first video on the Henry AR-7 I had a lot of problems with a 40-year old Charter Arms magazine. How does this survival rifle work with original Henry magazines? Watch and find out as I shoot some of my expensive .22 ammo.
This was my first rifle, my dad bought it for me before I was born, then gave it to me on my 7th birthday. It's a deeply flawed rifle, but a lot of fun to shoot, and a heck of a great starter for young children. It's also the gun that I learned basic firearms maintenance with, which sparked my love of firearms that eventually became a career in gunsmithing. Even after shooting dozens of different platforms and gaining a lot of experience with a very wide range of firearms this is still my favourite gun.
Absolutely love every video you make. Also love the fact you respond to comments. Keep up the good work as always
Thanks....I really appreciate that, Outta No where 👍🤠
One of the best firearm channels anywhere. You do excellent, fun, educational videos sir. Love this one, too.
I'll shoot ammo in my videos as much as I can. Expensive to replace right now, but I've been stocking up for several years just for dry spells like this.
Good to see you finally seem to have it working correctly!
Shooters like us definitely need to stock up again when things get back to normal. Maybe in a year or two when (hopefully) ammo and gun prices drop back down to normal I will do a video reminding gun owners to stock up.
@@mixup98 I will do the same. I hope it comes back to normal soon. High ammo prices is putting a kink in my shooting habits
I had just about decided to buy this Charter Arms AR-7 based on an old magazine article I had. I began looking for one and luckily found the Henry AR-7 online for $250. So I decided on buying two of them. I had a negative view of Charter Arms based on bad purchases in the past and so I was thrilled to hear Henry had bought the rights to it. Now I have two.
Anyone who doesn't have at least one of these is really out to lunch. Seriously.
The only time I have a problem with my Henry AR-7 is when I use ammo that is lower velocity and it tells you that in the manual.
1200 fps or above no problems, fun gun to shoot.
Love your videos as always. :)
Looks like something Charles Bronson would use in “The Mechanic” thanks for showing us again this really cool gun always enjoyable
👍🤠
BRONSON was Cool my dad & I watched his movies and Clint Eastwood Good BAD & the Ugly. Slow mo was fun to watch!
Just picked mine up today. Awesome little rifle.
Congratulations smokes! Have fun and be safe on the range.
I've had mine for years never had a problem shoots great!
Boa noite!
Existe a possibilidade de encontrar uma coronha desse rifle para comprar?
I was just at the range yesterday shooting my Henry AR7.. I was shooting CCI polymer coated bullets.. Henry really liked these .. out of 300 rounds I only had two small hiccups which were easy to clear
I have one of these...the Henry version as shown in the video.
Nice little plinker and definitely the most packable rifle you'll ever find, if you go camping. Not really a range gun...the Ruger 10/22 might be the better choice for that, but as a truck gun...definitely a good choice
Great video! Had an Armalite AR7 back in the early 70's with one mag. Fun weapon...
As always, I enjoy your channel and your down to earth style. Keep up the good work amigo!👍
Thanks Angry Ranger 👍🤠
Thanks for the follow-up. I could see this being a very useful tool for folks who spend a lot of time far from civilization.
I have 2 of them. First gun my daughter shot at 8 years old. Made her learn to assemble and disassemble before she ever shot it. Could do it blindfolded at 9. Never jammed ever both rifles. She is now 16 and still her favorite gun.
I love how much the Mojave looks and sounds like Sonora. The cicadas, creosote, alluvial mountains, and lots of teddy bear cholla- such beauty.
I picked one of these up last week. My son had a guy he works with that did nothing but buy and collect firearms. Well due to medical reasons he was off loading some of his collection. I picked it up for 150.00 U.S. and upon further inspection it was never fired. I emailed henry and mine was made in November of 2011. I am so glad I got this rare find on a screaming great deal. And yes I have been after one of these since 2009 when I first heard of them on a video the stars finally aligned for me, and yes it has been shot by me the very first round.
Awesome...a brand new unfired Henry for 150 bucks. I'm jealous William. Stay safe, have fun and thank you for the great comment and also for watching my video.
Have thought about getting one of these for years. Now I’m convinced I need to get one. As always thanks for the great video and please keep them coming 👍🏻
Hello Ken. I noticed my local Sportsmans Warehouse had them in stock last week. Hope you find one....you won't regret it.

Thank you sir, I will have to check that out… 👍🏻
Was gonna buy this a few years back, never did. Still want it! 👍
But then again I want quite a few Henry rifles.
That's an amazing looking shooting range you got there. Thanks again for the great video.
You are welcome A Hernandez !!
It floats! .....what r they trying to do? Keep me from being able to say "I lost all my guns in a boating accident" as always Great Video!
floated away on the eventide, officer!
Nice video, Mixup. Whenever I see a well made American product like this, it makes me want to go buy one. Thank you, sir.
You are very welcome Steve and I hope someday you get the chance to pick up a Henry AR-7 rifle.
The fade in....awesome every time...
Thank you Mr. Vaughn and in case I missed it I also thank you for being a three month subscriber to my channel.
@@mixup98 you're quite welcome. I always enjoy the content.
Excellent follow up vid. I'm glad I picked up one from Henry
Good choice! Have fun, stay safe and thanks for watching my videos.
Im like a kid in a candy store when I see a fresh box of 22LR
Thank you for the updated video on your AR-7 stay safe.👍👍👍
Thanks, you too!
Loved your video! Confirms my experience with my Henry Survival rifle. Loves hot rounds, so leave the subsonic stuff at home. It also travels great: I use a colorful soprano ukulele case with a padded black liner to conceal it among my other luggage. It's my California thing, people love ukes and Hawaiian music, and never suspect my instrument delivers its tune at 1,200 f/s.
Hey Mixup98, I had an AR7 and it had problems, sent it back to Henry twice and they told me it had to be replaced. They said the problem was with the way the receiver was machined. I think the gun I had was a lemon. I didn't want to take the chance that the 2nd gun was going to be problematic, so I told them I'd like to swap it for a Henry .22 lever action the H001 model. They agreed and now I have a beautiful Henry .22 lever action. It was about the same price anyway. Your AR7 seems to be running fine, good luck with it.
Wow...thank you for the great comment. It's nice to see Henry take care of their customers. Thank you Henry and thank you SJ.
Great to see that thing working properly. I've always wanted one. Thanks, buddy.
No problem 👍
Henry perfected the magazine design when they started building this gun.
Mags from previous Armalite, Charter Arms guns, or aftermarket mags will give you the exact problems that you had in the previous video.
6:38, spectacular coke launch and landing scene, with background thunder sound effect.
i bought henry ar-7 mags, worked perfect, i really laughed when you described 22 ammo, but its true. i could slap myself when i drop a mag on the ground. thanks so much
Hello Ira. I don't drop a magazine very often but when I do I certainly deserve a good slap 👍😳
Your exploding target vid just earned you a sub! Your videos are great!
Yet another great video - thank you! And I waffled back and forth for *years* about buying one of these... As you mentioned, it feels a little awkward with the stock offset. I would sometimes pick one up at a gun show, and put it down again. Through Armalite, Charter Arms, and Henry, I've held them all but no one of them "grabbed" at me. In my (casual) search for a packable camping and "survival" type 22, I finally decided on a Marlin stainless Papoose. It has performed flawlessly for me, and I purchased additional magazines. As a "packable" 22 rifle goes, I love it a lot! And it has given me no issues at all.
But still my favourite 22 plinker is an old Stevens 84C bolt action. (Also good for racoon dispatching). Even my Ruger 10/22 takes a back seat to the old Stevens!
Thanks again, and I wish you health and prosperity!!
It seems like I always owned a Stevens or Savage rifle or shotgun when I was younger and they always worked and were extremely accurate. Of course, they were made with American steel and walnut (or birch). Someday I would love to review a Marlin Papoose rifle. Thanks for the great comment and I also thank you for being a five year subscriber.
Got my Charter AR-7 in late 1970's and also had feeding trouble with most ammo. Remington Golden solids shot well but their Thunderbolt fodder is accurate and problem free in my AR-7. Use that ammo exclusively in the Charter. I did drill out the larger aperture sight to more of a ghost ring type sight in the mid 1980's and like it much better. For years I cleaned this gun with kerosene, dunking the action, letting it drip dry and using an ear syringe to blast out crud. A touch of Break Free and I'm ready to go. As always, a swell video my friend.
Thanks for the great advice on your AR-7. I've never cleaned a gun with kerosene before but it certainly sounds like it works. Thank you for the comment and I also thank you for watching my video.
@@mixup98, for a guy whose videos get tens of thousands of views, you are a humble son-of-a-gun. You got class and you got style, fuhgeddaboudit.
I have a Charter Arms AR7 I bought forty years ago new for $99. To solve problem. Only shoot high power ammo. CCI stinger or mini mag. The old Remington yellow jackets worked flawlessly. When inserting a magazine, make sure it is in square and tight with the receiver. I shoot right handed and grip the magazine, pushing it up lightly. If that magazine sags at all the bolt carrier will go over the round or only partially catch the round. I can shoot mine 500 rounds without a problem, easily.
I had an old one back 26 years ago. Not sure what brand it was at the time but after a couple hundred rounds in one day the firing pin or what you'd call it wore out enough to stop firing rounds. Was very disappointed but it was super accurate. We were shooting pennies and beer caps at about 50 feet and almost never missed.
Very cool weapon, I’d love to get one of these. Great video Sir! I love the Star Trek intro lol!
A baby boomer classic- the Star Trek transporter. And "Beautiful southern Nevada"- I love the desert too. Oh your shooting and reviews are top notch.
Thank you Hans....I appreciate the great comment. 👍👽
Just ordered one. ..I have the Ruger 10/22 take down...but it's bulky. .been wanting something for my snowmobile pack and keep my ruger in my hunting pack. I'm excited to get it
Good choice Larry. Please let us know what you think after shooting your AR-7 and I thank you for watching my video.
Awesome video my brother good to see you again
Welcome back Ruben. Stay safe my friend.
That doll was creepy as hell. Once again a brave man with a Henry rifle comes to save the day. Thanks for the video my dude!
👍🤠
Glad you got it fixed , it's a pain when you have issues. I had issues with a springfield 1911 , that the recoil spring was stretched. I've seen at a gun show couple weeks ago 500 round of remington golden bullet was $75, and online they were trying to get $124 for the same
Fun little rifle. I had one many years ago - just about convinced I need a new one.
Heck yeah, go for it...I'm glad I did.
hey my friend another GREAT video! Let me put in my seven cents here on the AR-7. Years ago the "trick" to get them to function more reliably was to take a 6mm/6.5 or 7mm maybe a .270 and LIGHTLY put some grinding paste on the bullet and VERY slightly Chamfer the chamber. The VAST majority of the time that solved the jamming issue. You are correct in that the Charter/AR-7 Industries magazines had very poor quality control.
You’re going to make me buy one of these next time I see one around 😁. Thanks for posting this follow up!
You should Eddie 👍
I remember the last video you made with this rifle. I also remember all the problems you were having with it. It's great to see that you have sorted the problems out. I had a good laugh when you started bragging about your hollow-points ammo. I keep seeing people asking where they can get any hollow-point ammo. A few days ago, SGAmmo sent me an e-mail letting me know that they had ammo in stock, but the prices were terrible, so I gave it a miss. But, not too long after that, everything started to become "sold out" or "no longer available", so I guess there are many people who will still pay those prices for ammo.
Thank you for making such interesting videos for us -- and thank you for your wonderful sense of humour that comes through almost all of the time.
Take care now.
Kind regards.
Liz.
I've seen some websites selling a 500 round brick of .22 ammo for $200!! I can't believe people actually pay that much. When Bill Clinton was president we went through an ammo shortage and I told myself then to stock up when times are good....I'm glad I did. It may be awhile but I believe things will eventually get back to normal and I will stock up again. Thank you Liz for always leaving a great comment. Take care.
@@mixup98 I looked at my receipt and 300 rounds of cci was $40.00 here in Fairbanks a few days ago from sportsman's warehouse. They do put it out sparsely too keep hoarders at bay which I thank is GREAT. :)
Nice! Glad to see somebody is out having fun!
Thank you Frank....yes, I had fun 😁
Can always count on you for honest reviews..
Mine has always been reliable and accurate. But you have to use the Henry factory mags. Henry made those mags to work but all those other brand mags don't have the "wire" keeper or tolerance that keeps it reliable. It will stay reliable so long as you don't damage the feed ramps on the mags. If you do then you might as well get new factory mags. The butt cap will stretch and fall off over time so if you put a strip of duct tape around the butt edge/rim it will snug the cap up again. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the info RB M, especially about the duct tape.
Thank you !
I have the original Charter arms Explorer version of this. Some times has an issue with loading from the magazine. Now your video has me rethinking what the issue is.
It probably is the magazine. I'm not sure if a Henry magazine would work in your Charter Arms but I have a feeling that it might.
Did you ever try the Henry magazine
@@GrumpyTinashe @mixup98 I haven't tried a Henery magazine yet. But am definitely going to give it a try. Also need to get some spare parts, while they are still available. Also Wish I would have gotten the explorer pistol when they were available.
Nice presentation. Love the camera work and scenery.
Awesome, thank you James!
I heard a rumour that Mixup shoots those videos in his living room but uses a lot of "green screens" and stuff.
😁
Outta date soda is like a fine wine 🤣💪😭
It's nice to see that you've gotten your AR7 to be reliable! I have one and it's one of my favorite guns by far. I keep mine in a violin case, and it's always fun to see the reaction when I tell the range officer that I've got a rifle with me. :D
Great ideal with the violin case 👍😎
Push the mag forward at the bottom that will rock the feed lip up and reduce the feed angle. Hold it that way and shoot it will feed. THAT is the problem the spring pressure in the mag and the loose tolerance makes the fit sloppy so just shim the backside might help anyway you need to prevent the front of the mag from sagging thereby lowering the feed lip causing the jam.
That's a pretty cool set up there, thank's for sharing it.
Hello Augie. It really is a pretty cool set up and thank you for watching my video. I would also like to thank you for being a nine year subscriber to my channel 👍
@@mixup98 You're Very welcome, you're vids are informative and entertaining. We spoke once about you being in Montello Nevada once, this is where i like to be out here near the hills and watching firearm vids. I won't talk your head off and you have a good night. I'll be watching and we'll talk again soon.👍
I bought mine in 78. It functioned extremely well for many, many years. Like with any mechanical device it did give me some grief...They need to be fed a diet of CCI and kept clean! Once that soft lead and unburned powder built up it jammed constantly. You need take the entire gun apart. Once you remove the side plate and see what's built up inside you'll see what adds to its jamming problems.....I may even purchase the newer version....
Do Henry magazines for in the Charter arms
I have several of the High Standard versions of this rifle from way back when. Both are utterly reliable with just about anything I can stuff into the (10) and (15) round magazines.
I bought one of these a couple years ago and bought a 3rd 8 shot mag. I also bought two15 round mags. The peep sight is indexable for small peep and larger peep. I have only used cci and had no jams but I've only used the mags that came with it. I need to try the others. Its a great survival rifle that fits in a backpack and it will feed you during an emergency.
I really enjoy your videos my go to source for firearms videos on you tube
Had one of these back in '73. Cool gun but had a lot of stovepipes. Didn't think of the magazines as the problem. Hell, it was a new gun AND, according to the ads, it could float!
The gun was completely re-enginered by Henry a short while ago, not silver finish any more. Primary fix was the feed ramp on the magazine.
doesn't float for long
Yeah, those "un-boxing" videos are a joke. On 22lr semi-autos that don't have the last shot lock back, I use a snap cap for the last round. Some manufacturers say you can dry fire their 22s, but old habits die hard. I enjoyed the video. Thanks
You're welcome John and thank you for watching my video. Have a safe and Happy Easter.
Good video . I have a pistol version of that rifle made by charter arms I believe..it jammed a lot so I did a little polishing on the intake ramp and it shoots great..sad to say it don't float like the rifle.
If Henry brings back the pistol, I'm buying one. I had a friend with one way back, I called it a "Broom Handle Charter."
Pitty those who didn't even stock up on 22. Did you try to stretch the magazine spring on the old magazine? 🤔 . Love your videos.
Hello Randall. I don't remember but I probably did stretch the magazine spring forty years ago and if I did it didn't help. Thank you for the great comment and I also thank you for watching my video.
CCI Quiet and CCI CB shorts are both rated at only 710 FPS. Seems like I get better accuracy with the shorts. Of course you are looking at 29 grains vs 40 grains. Unfortunately you can't load the shorts directly into the magazine and have to singlely load them. It is sometimes nice to practice without hearing protection.
Noticed a lot of people have had issues with older versions. Maybe Henry's new magazine will solve their problems?
Really cool rifle! If I come across one of those, I will not hesitate too buy it! I have recently purchased a 800 count box of Federal ,22 LR for $79.99 at Big 5 Sporting Goods. Only 10 cents each, a real bargin these days! Thanks for that fun review Boss!
Hello David. Sounds like you got a good deal at Big5 considering some places would have charged you hundreds of dollars for that box of ammo.
Excellent video as always...
Thank you! Cheers!
I've got a Marlin Papoose i bought in 2006. Stainless steel. Very similar to the Henry AR-7.
It will float too but it has to be in it's padded case.
It was the favorite rifle every where I go and people alway want to shoot it.
I like the Henry and may pick one up too.
Heads up here - I have one of these AR7's and it will not shoot lead rounds like Aguilar etc. The lead catches on the edge of the chamber no matter which mag you use (old or new) and locks up the weapon just like it did in his first video.
mixup... back in the building!!.. Damn, I love your vids...
Thank you deckard9732 !!! 👍🤠
I'm from The Philippines, and planning to buy that Henry's Surival rifle soon.
Please let us know what you think of the Henry rifle after you buy one.
Better buy the Ruger 10/22 take down rifle. More expensive but more reliable and would last a lifetime.
I think it's about $460. Guns there are expensive and hard to get a license just to purchase a 22 rifle.
Permit to carry outside your residence is another story.
Not crazy about external safeties but I really like the one on the Henry AR7. If you're ever wondering if you have a round chamber, put the safety on. If the action hasn't cycled you won't be able to put the safety on. Have experimented extensively with CCI quiets. CCI quiets don't have enough velocity to cycle the action. CCI quiets are just fine for rabbit or squirrel hunting. In a hunting situation I might not want an auto loader. Have also played around quite a bit with CCI CB shorts. Those have to be singlely loaded and can't be loaded into the magazine. One of the advantages of the CCI CB shorts and CCI quiets, they're extremely quiet. Was playing around the other day and hitting a 3x5-in steel plate at 40 yards with CCI CB shorts. The round hitting the plate was actually louder than the firearm discharging. Not saying you might not get a CCI Quiet that will cycle the action, and always check to see if you can put that safety on, after firing a round if you try this. Not a poacher, but I might want to hunt an area where I want to keep it low-key. The Henry AR7 is an outstanding firearm! Love what you guys do! Outstanding review.
I just might buy a box or two of CCI quiets and do a little plinking with them. Thanks for the suggestion and my son and I thank you for watching our videos.
Pretty typical of my experience. I tried some non-Henry magazines in mine and I sent them all back. The 5 OEM mags that I have work great. Henry tweaked the design of their magazine slightly from the original and that is why this one works so much better than earlier versoins. It's been a fun little shooter for me for 6 years now. Never an issue. I detect a note of sarcasm when you day "beautiful sothern Nevada". : )
I've always wanted an AR7, just never got around to getting one, probably because I've already got several 22's.
Great video. Love this channel.
Much appreciated!
Great rifle , great channel great 👍 shooting 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸SIR
I can understand why "Floating" would be a concern in the Nevada Desert. Good video. Thanks
I figured someone would say that but the fact is there are MANY areas where WATER is an issue.
That rifle is a thing of beauty. Hell of a lot better than throwing rocks.
stewie: Yes but just barely.
@@kimnielsenthewordyvikingett159 depends on the thrower
Well maby it's time I did a rethink since it's a Henry or was it always a Henry??? Anyway I've never owned one and always thought I'd like to turn one into a match gradeweapon. I used to be able to do some pretty good machine work on some really blanked up stuff and ending up being some excellent weapons if I may say so myself. But none of my friends wanted to spend the nessisary amounts we discussed. So consequently I'd be going in blind. And at the moment I've been prepping probably more than I need to but it just gets habit forming if you can understand. For some reason I feel like I'd like to give living a try. As a matter of fact an extended amount of decades as far as I'm concerned. But I'm thinking my ex boss from the pipeline and I have definitely gone completely full goose bozo deliriously insanely crazy with prepping carrying it to an unprecedented level!!! On two bunkers far from each other. I'm guessing he's already spent in the neighborhood of 9.5 so far not too mention my free labor operating his heavy equipment. Which of course is miniscule in comparison. And the nessisary diesel tech I've donated in the two builds but now I've been rambling on so I wish everyone all the best luck and please stay safe.
Man, I'm not getting notified of your videos lately. Did you see the results of my newer CMMG .22 lr conversion kit from your video regarding that kit? I've been saying that I am going to buy one of these AR-7's for decades and I still haven't got one. They make these in a couple different camo patterns now as well. Always good to see one of your videos.
In your tests of this gun you left out that the moveable part of the rear sight has a sight aperture at each end of it: one small, one larger. Just another feature of a well thought design. I'll buy one of these, they seem WAY better made than the Charter arms version I shot years ago. I'm getting a Maverick, a RIA M200 and a G3C on your recommendation, too. Thanks for your work, watch out for the shaving cream.
You're right Richard, I should have mentioned that the rear peep sight has two different apertures and that the sight can be flipped around. I hope you get all the guns mentioned....you won't be disappointed.
I am glad you did a video on this. I am having the same issues that you were experiencing in the last video. Not ejecting or jamming. Correct me if I wrong, are you suggesting that is the ammo that is causing the problems?
In my last video the problem I was having was caused by the old Charter Arms magazine I was using. In this video the rifle shot great and I didn't have any problems when using the original Henry magazines. I'm willing to bet that if you clean the rifle, especially the chamber and front of the bolt face, lightly lube the bolt and use the factory magazines, your rifle will be more reliable.
@@mixup98 thank you for getting back with me. I will try that.
@Mitchell Rossman thanks.

I have one of these and I love it. To anybody thinking of buying one, make sure to get high velocity ammo! It doesn't run well on anything lower. If you want cheap the best one I've found is remington thunderbolt. Also I run it sloppy wet with oil. Have nearly 8k rounds through it and I love it!
I have an older Charter arms made one, same deal. I wasted a lot of time and money buying new bolt/springs etc only to come to the conclusion it only works well with high velocity ammo. Running fast ammo it skips along just fine, only issue I have now is a broken stock.
great vidio and gun i remember the originals they were a little heavier than the new ones thanks for showing
Neat little rifle!
Yep, problem was that old magazine! This rifle now is available from Henry in camo, if you do not like the black stick look. But it costs about $40 more. Since I like to camo paint some of my guns, and I do not like the black stick, I camo painted mine with a grass and shadow effect. Looks nice if I say so myself!
Yeah, and if mine were camo, I'd paint it black!
Yup I love mine and perfect for the boat and squirrel hunting up the river for me
Hey Mix, I've always been interested in getting one of these, but the reputation left me cold. A buddy of mine had one awhile back that rarely would get through a mag. Glad yours is working. Would you say that you recommend this (maybe with the caveat that it may need some "tuning")?.
Recheck the rifle brand closely. Years ago, Charter Arms built this same rifle and it was total junk. It was the king of jammomatics. I know, I own one.
Since 1958 I believe five different companies have made the AR-7. Some versions, like the Charter Arms, were unreliable junk ( I owned one) but Henry made some design changes to the rifle and magazine, and Henry apparently has fixed the problems that the other companies were experiencing with their rifles. I did have to put a handful of rounds through my Henry to break it in when I first bought it but now it runs flawless.
I've always loved the concept & the design of the AR-7, but I am questioning the reliability. I think I'll fulfill the bucket list one day (hopefully soon) with a Ruger 10/22 Take Down in stainless. That's my survival rifle idea, and I'll deal with the extra weight. Great video as always Mixup, and I'll see you when you beam yourself down for another desert review! --- Jason/Vermont, USA
Hello Jason and greetings from Nevada. You can't go wrong with a Ruger 10/22 stainless take down. Maybe I'll do another review on mine just for the fun of it.
The weight would probably amaze you. Find someone that will let you try one out, pretty amazing.
It floats for god's sake. 😊
true BUT an AR-7 FLOATS! That is a big plus in places like Michigan or Florida.
@@mixup98 Nice, thanks --- I remember your Ruger 10/22 take down reviews. I believe you had a couple of different stocks. (Enter 'bad joke' here) One would think that the Ruger 10/22 was a financial tool, with all of the 'stock options.' (haha.) The Tac-Star stock was pretty cool, but the FDE Hogue stock was sweet.
You'll have to deal with that padded case it goes in also. The chances of you being faced with 1000 rabbits or having to fight a war with your take down 22 are slim. It's plenty reliable.
In 1983, I bought a Jager AP-74 which was a 22 caliber AR-15 look alike. It never cycled a single round through the magazine without either failing to fire or failing to eject and jamming the action. Even after having a gunsmith look at it, we couldn't determine if the rifle, the ammo or the mags were to blame. Since the rifle was new, I blamed the finicky 22 caliber round and I've never had a desire to own another one since. That rifle hasn't seen the light a day in almost 40 years. Maybe someday, videos like yours will change my mind.
Around the same time frame my brother and I both had the Charter Arms AR-7 and it didn't work either. Henry has made several improvements to the design, including the magazine, and they really have done a great job fixing the problems that the older rifles had.
I’m getting one this Sunday, I’m so excited!
Awesome! I'm glad for you and I know you are going to love shooting it. Have fun, stay safe and thank you for watching my video.
