I leave one replacement spur between the irrigation wire and the fruiting wire. I clean everything else off unless the trunk is starting to lean in one direction and is no longer straight. I will leave a spur or shoot at the base of the truck. Also if there's a trunk disease I will do the same and cut the old trunk off the following season.
Do you recommend to leave a spare spur at the base of the trunk in case it needed to be replaced??
