I ordered a Six Samurai Deck. Everything was fake except the commons. I reported the guy and he emailed me saying that it was in the description that the holos were fake. I took a screenshot and dated it, he changed it so he didn’t have to give me a refund. eBay deleted his channel and gave me a refund and a credit to purchase the actual cards.
My worst experience was buying offline. For my first pack ever I visited a kinda crappy store in a tourist part of Turkey. When I openend it and saw a dark magician with 10.000 atk and the effect of instantly winning the duell when summoned, I knew something was wrong. xD
*Thanks for watching the video, everybody! Hopefully this was helpful for anybody looking to purchase Yu-Gi-Oh cards online!* What are some of the worst online Yu-Gi-Oh scams you've seen and what would you tell others to avoid them? 🤔
Team APS I purchased a card online and they said NM yet when I got it they were in awful condition. I paid $60 for those card. I never buy cards online unless I get video proof that it's good condition or I meet the person IRL and see the card for myself. I did get my cash back.
To sum up if it's too good to be true it is. Whether it's a rip off or the shipping on something is insane people can be evil. Also whether someone is honest or not I never trust individual sellers using stock photos / obvious google images. I was looking for a soul of chogokin megazord and I found a used one for half normal price; the only pictures were stock photos so I paid full for a new one instead.
I got a Hysteric Sign that was scuffed up and bent instead of the near mint I ordered. The vendor had the balls to say it wasn’t his fault because he “didn’t have any other ones.” TCGplayer helped out.
Sellers also can get scammed by dishonest buyers. Remember a lot of the time the customer is always sided with for the most part so they can get away with being shady buyers. Make sure you're accurate in listings including accurate photos. Make sure you're proactive with posting your cards. Most importantly, make sure if you sell something pricey, add tracking and send as recorded delivery. Buyers can be just as shifty. Be smart. A guy I know sold an Ash Blossom and didn't send it recorded delivery and it was "lost in the post".
Yeah, a chance lot is just someone dumping a bunch of commons they don't want. If you're just going for quantity, then it can be fine, but yeah, if you're pursuing specific cards, then it's a lost cause.
Another tip I would give is to take pictures of the whole listing right before you buy, that way if anything is wrong or seriously misleading you have proof. This is especially great on eBay because if the seller completely bows out, you can still get a refund through eBay itself. I've gotten full refunds or partials on multiple occasions with this practice.
I had a seller on TCG player not pay enough for shipping, it got to me and i had to pay the difference. I showed proof this happened, and the seller at first happily gave me a refund. A day later, I get notified i've been blocked by this seller for being a " high risk" buyer based on my postal situation. I tried to talk it out to them, and they refused to ever sell to me again. I left a bad review so fast. It was clear they were trying to get away with something shady, and were covering their tracks
I once fell victim to the scam where they put ‘3x’ in the title, but it only referred to how many were available for sale. *sigh* My piece of advice when buying cards- always read the description and check how the card will be mailed. I like my cards mailed in a toploader.
Another tricky thing people like to do is make the price really low but jack up the shipping to make it look like a deal, but you may actually pay more.
The FLOD example you were talking about actually happened to a friend of mine. It was so blatant that they didn't even seal the packages back up. Just the box.
i always buy from troll and toad ...100% satisfaction guaranteed...i was never disappointed with the condition of the cards... no issues with sellers... speedy responses of staff, tracking..all the good stuff.....and more ways to pay
The problem with reviews is that on places like amazon and ebay, I have seen a lot of people give a review based simply on how good or bad a card is and if they dont like the card, not based on if they got their card how it was promised. Its annoying seeing a 1 star review and going down to see it just to see someone bashing on the card, for example, evenly matched.
I once bought all the LOB exodia pieces on eBay and when I got them, they looked great. But I noticed that once I started playing them they would always end up together after shuffling ( I didn’t use sleeves at the time) and then came to find out they were cut slightly on all edges to make them just so slightly smaller than standard cards. Of course sleeves helped fix that problem but once you know, it does stand out and annoys you every time you see them. and now years later I’ve obtained more great quality versions and now they just sit in a binder. It’s just a bad feeling as a kid in 7th grade to finally get exodia and find out it’s been messed with.
This title is a clickbait! It says that it's only about Yu-Gi-Oh, but the content inside is a well-produced video that has nothing but tips that applies to any card games with a secondary market!
Mine has been on ebay where the person marks an item as shipped, and I waited 2 weeks. The cards never came and I needed them for a deck for a locals. I ended up messaging them and they appologized and gave me a refund. I doubt they ever sent the cards and I think they cancelled because the market value of the cards I ordered doubled after I had placed my order.
One of the scams I get and cannot be avoided at times is that they say it’s first edition and it comes in unlimited edition. Most times it is an honest mistake and it’s fixed by the seller but other times they are just trying to unload unlimited cards as first edition. I hate this and it’s very common and I always leave feedback when they don’t even try to respond or fix it.
Funnily enough, I've found that on TCGPlayer, new sellers, or those with a small number of sales tend to follow card condition guidelines better, especially since the majority of listings have no pictures. A lot of the large-scale sellers on TCGPlayer just have too much on their hands and their goal is to turn over cards as fast and as profitable as possible , thus they sometimes list cards as NM when they should be at least LP, or list as LP when it wouldn't even go for MP. All in all, TCGPlayer is a convenient and buyer friendly place to get cards. However, as a buyer, you should always expect some sort of human error or even deception in some of the listings without pictures. Thanks for the tips though guys! :) tl;dr: big sellers = more margin for error
My only bad buying experience was buying a gift that I never got, a pikachu onesie. Ebay refunded me after a lot of hastle from no response from the seller over various days. Never had any problems buying cards.
Recent bad experience. I had just watched your guys video on shared ride and wanted to buy some, so I ordered 2 copies for $1.59 each from a seller, and 3 days later I get a message saying my order was canceled and he was giving me a full refund, then relist the shared rides for $4.60 each. I was very upset.
As someone who has only recently gotten into Yu-Gi-Oh, I have been Extremely cautious of scams and have so far yet to be scammed. I assume this will eventually change but so far I have done well.
If the title or description is incorrect in any eBay posting then you can easily return saying item did not match description. I have had success selling eBay but I feel like people absolutely get scared. I try to always put everything in the picture is included. and describe as much as possible, to avoid customer being scared that I'm scamming or something. I've also bought cards from eBay marked as Mint and they come NM/LP which I feel no shame in requesting a return. I didn't pay X amount for a played card. if you mark your card Mint, that means 1 or less flaws.
The only time I've bought a LP condition card was when I bought the 05 Tin Promo Dark Magician Girl and I didn't mind because it's for my collection and I wasn't gonna use it
@@unclesam1326 While I would say it is, mainly because it's my go to site, there have definitely been some mishaps. For instance: there are sellers on Amazon that will sell you searched packs and you need to read the description as they will not but it in the title, there were times I never received my cards and had to contact sellers. Or times I had received different products. Just because it's trusted doesn't mean you shouldn't be through.
Fantastic video. Gotta always read every word in the description. When the Legendary Kaiba Collection came out someone was selling a case of the of "Kaiba's Collector boxes" for 120 bucks. No photo. Anyone could make an honest mistake and impulse buy.
That's how these scammers make money. It isn't Yugioh but My roommate was looking fir an old megazord on eBay and found it complete for 10$; shipping was 75$. They're as scummy as scalpers but honestly I'd say they're worse becuase at least scalpers charge 50$ normally and don't hide it.
I've bought a handful that were listed 'MINT' and they were probably mint before they went in the envelope but dude stuffed 15 cards into a single soft sleeve and tossed it in the mail with no further protection. Cards look beautiful and they're completely bent and stick out like a sore thumb if you try to shuffle them into a straight flat deck.
My worst experience was on eBay was when I ordered a play set of mask of restrict right before the price spike during monarch format. The seller sent me the wrong mask card and when I contacted him he gave me a refund and told me to keep the cards sent . I told him I just wanted the cards I paid for and his response was because of the sudden increase in price I would have to pay more than what I had originally. According to my friends it was just a common practice to send the wrong card or nothing and just keep the card to make more of a profit.
Back when I was making a Blue-Eyes deck, I had ordered a Crystal Wing, a White Stone of Ancients, and a Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon from an Ebay seller named pablo4 or something. The first time, I purchased my first White Stone of Ancients from this seller and the card arrived on time. The second time I purchased the three aforementioned cards they never showed up and I had to file a claim to get my money back.
So why don't you guys also do a video of where to buy them from at least bulk wise it'll probably help more Yugioh players I know a ton of people who still don't know the greatest place to buy bulk at least on the cheaper side just a suggestion would really like to see the video
I always get my cards at my local store about a 15 minute sidestreet drive away: CoreTCG Usually I buy an entire deck core but I’ve never bought an entire box of booster packs
Great video. I would love for you to make a video about the facebook marketplace scams. Those are horrible because the buyer gets no protection and facebook makes this pretty misleading. Burned out of $160 recently after a seller never sent me the item. Facebook turned down any refund nor did they ban the account. I paid through facebooks native method. this was for a collection to be shipped. Most I could do is call the police. Found his address, phone number, etc, but it’s just not worth my time to pursuit further. Edit: I can go into further detail if others are concerned. I have a heart and don’t want this guys life to be any worse than it probably is, though, I just was upset at how misleading facebooks policy was for buyer protection. It’s more like Craigslist, tbh..
Bought a case of 12 boxes of the Fire fist set to split with friends. Seller took the money and never shipped our product, but was still selling boxes at higher prices and shipping those out.
STORY TIME: So I bought and ORICA off of eBay (It said it was fake so I was well aware) and I only play casual with my 1 friend. I asked him about it and he said it was fine if I used it because with sleeves they're basically impossible to pick out. When it arrived I only remembered a card I got and forgot it was specifically labeled as a fake so I was terribly confused. Eventually memory struck me and I was perfectly happy with it so and it's still in my main deck to this day. btw The card was Horakhthy Creator of Light and I used it in the Sacred Beast structure deck with her, the egiptian gods, and exodia thrown in because reasons.
what sucks even worse is when you had a collection that would have purchased your first home and your mothers steals them and sells the hole collection for hundred dollars, you dont know who stole them so you just give up and stop then 11 years later you decide its time to start over and you buy tonssssss of cards and eventually you find an old card of yours that was a fake kubiroh becuase as a kid you drew on the back of it........ i litterally could have bought a brand new truck of the lot cash with that collection every card no matter what it was was hard case sleeved at oppening wether it was a lob bewd or a man eater bug from the very first pack released in the u.s. up until 2009 i got a box pack tin deck every week my collection was enough to fill up a big truck bed, we moved from nc to va to go back home in she needed money caus we lost our house and vehicles from my parents loosing everything when the market crashed so she sold them with out telling me, i could have sold one card for hundred bucks and let her keep it, now that collection would be maybe even one of the top 10s in the u.s. i had so many sealed products i was saving for the future my dad told me to treat them like they was gonna be worth alot one day and he was right,,, no i try to win all the giveaways on yugi tubers that i follow and its been tough havent won one yet blahhhhhh im almost thirty and my wife thinks im a dork loll
I typically buy from Tcgplayer, TradingCardMint, and on rare occasions Amazon(guaranteed with prime shipped by ToyWiz or something). I ordered from Troll and Toad once, it took a while to get the cards. But I do prefer the first two when buying. Because one is good and the other is an actual store.
I buy from eBay and TCGplayer, but mostly TCGplayer. I had some issues with eBay. Cards never came in and message the seller. Got full refund, no argument. They are both good since they both have buyers protection, but eBay listing tend to be higher than TCGplayer.
It's not advice about scams but if you notice the seller has other cards you're looking for and you've bought from them before try to get those cards from them to deal with less packaging
I was buying singles off of Amazon, 3 copies of Eternal Soul came a little later than I wanted but fine. I also ordered 3 copies of DMC and they didn’t come. I asked for a refund and I did get it. I then proceeded to go to another seller and they STILL didn’t come in the mail. I asked for a refund and never got it. Now I stopped going on Amazon for singles.
The only reasons i look to buy Japanese cards are 1 of two things 1) Building a OCG deck 2) playing with my friends as you can't tell if there is a actual weight difference in the cards without a scale probably and you should be using sleeves anyways so the backs would not matter Like price wise if i can't find a card i will just build a OCG deck that i was going to put the card in as the price is cheaper or i would just put it in my deck anyways as again sleeves and my friends really don't care as you can just use the code to look up what the card says on what it is and what it does
My mother bought some vanguard boxes for me for Christmas and they "arrived" at my address. Yeah, that was a little messed up on whoever was responsible.
Basically the deal on repacks. When people/companies open packs/boxes in order to get cards to sell, they are left with a bunch of worthless junk, or stuff that really wont make them money. One solution that people figure out was repacks. Basically, you get all the crap you dont want, then you throw in a crappy rare in a couple of them. Some person who doesnt know better goes "ohh look I have a chance at a rare for cheaper than a full box", and boom, the company just unloaded a bunch of cards they otherwise wouldnt be able to sell. Folks who open boxes are not going to put all the good cards back and take a loss. If you want a chance at a box, its better to save and buy a box.
I while ago I did buy from a guy on eBay who according to the description said that I would receive the following. What the seller meant to say was ONE of the following. English wasn't the sellers' native language. I should have expected to not get everything given the price was so low. Regardless I complained to eBay and they agreed with me. So I got my money back but I did have to return the product. Overall I ended up losing a few bucks in shipping.
I used to sell dragonball cards online and I sold 3 cards for like 40 dollars and got paid via PayPal. The individual then said that they showed up damaged which I asked for proof of because he was going through PayPal for a refund. PayPal conversed through both of us where he sends the cards back then after I have the cards he gets the money back. When I got the cards back they were in perfect shape and he was just trying to get free cards. That's when I stopped selling cards onljne
Another one to look out for, not only on Yugioh but everything you buy online. Low prices, similar to "too good to be true" but high shipping costs. Ash Blossom: $1.00 Shipping Cost: $50.00
So what are worth while lots that you want to buy to expand your collection and don’t really care about what you get what key things should I look for besides the reviews and percentages of the seller
I often buy on Ebay from big Sellers but don't get my cards :/ And when I sell cards that I just pulled I often sell them for cheap like an Ash from the Kaiba Collection . I package them well and send them quickly and don't get an Rating for my sale. Feels bad
I just purchased some cards through TCG player I am into Yu-Gi-Oh and magic the gathering the cards I purchased were from magic the gathering I bought a bulk lot do you think I will be get a working Deck with a thousand cards in the lot? I wanted to try buying magic cards in bulk first then I will try buying Yu-Gi-Oh in bulk from TCG player any advice?
What about the stuff on Ebay that has the card but “English Version ships out on -date-!”?! Well......it works in Yugioh and Vanguard. TCGPlayer is a good place to buy cards.
I have never had a problem buying cards offline but I only use three place tcgplayer, toywiz, and some Amazon but just like eBay be very cautious when buying from Amazon they have scammers two less of them but they still do
It sucks I was a big fan as a kid when yugioh first came out and wanted to hop back in but all the cards I want are from when I was little kid but old school yugioh is so damn expensive I just can’t rationalize buying them
I got scammed by a popular yugituber. I was told that the post office was "just slow and bad". Let's just say I still don't have my cards and I'm waiting for a refund.
Think about it this way; could your deck beat a first turn neo blue eyes ultimate dragon, firewall dragon, and some other monster like maybe blue eyes alternative? That's just an example but first turn bosses and unbeatable boards are really common now.
TCGPlayer and amazon are really good IF you live in the U.S. If you dont, the import fees will make the price double or maybe even triple. Does anyone know about another online alternative? For example, YGOSingles.com has free international shipping if you buy a ton of cards. 80USD minimum, I think. But i couldn't find any reviews of this website. Have anyone bought cards there?
Where do you guys go to buy cards? I like tcgplayer.com #AskTheSquad
A L W A Y S C H E C K B O T H - and YGOsingles is pretty good as well!
Eu cardmarket. It's probably the best website for buying cards in Europe.
I buy some cards from outpost.be. It's a Belgian website with a very good variety.
Alec Fields don't have a credit card and don't trust ebay, so I go through Amazon, but Amazon likes to overcharge, engage is $117.00
I always go to tcgplayer.com
In the first 10 seconds of the video, Paul has the same look as I do 5 minutes into my opponent's turn.
Thousandeyes85 lmao!! That god damn Gouki and SPYRAL board.
That killed me. I'm dead!

We all need to learn from this guy: Get screencaps, people. Most of what you see on the buyers side can be edited at any time by scammers.
Give this man a medal.

Sadly no
Victory magician 😂
nah i think that's legit

Hey guys check out the boxes on Wish. They are all fake Lol.
Was this video sponsored?
Team APS Shout our to the Plus Mudkip in the background.
And thanks for the tips
Team APS is Yugioh mint trustworthy
Some sellers on Ebay will even advertise their cards as a playset when you're really only getting 1 of the cards.
omg before Paul started speaking he looked like he was about to kill me
That look is my specialty! 😂
How do you think his opponents scrub out before their first turn?
@@TeamAPS "I lied, there is no video. Give me your rares."

Never buy a chance lot, chances are the wanted cards arent actually there ;)

how in the fuck am i the first person to reply here
Whats your opinion buying on amazon

So why don't you guys also do a video of where to buy them from at least bulk wise it'll probably help more Yugioh players I know a ton of people who still don't know the greatest place to buy bulk at least on the cheaper side just a suggestion would really like to see the video
Nice Mudkip
Neptune Heart fr that Mudkip lit 🔥🔥🔥
He's one of my new friends.
I always get my cards at my local store about a 15 minute sidestreet drive away: CoreTCG
Usually I buy an entire deck core but I’ve never bought an entire box of booster packs
Can you guys do a video on what one would need if they wanted to sell cards? Like what works the best as far as sleeves, shipping method, etc
I love that Mudkip
Anthony Cantos me to
This is why i stick to Troll and Toad or TCGplayer. Toywiz is okay too, but they can be kinda sluggish with shipping.
I just bought a deck on eBay said ready to play it said 41 cards and it was only 39 .
I bought 3 cards on tcgplayer and the description of the condition are near mint and it looks lightly played.
Always remember that in yugioh, all packs from the same set have the same picture. You'll see fake ones on sites like wish
Yes! I do this all the time especially with my more favored sellers.
TheTranquilTreecko if you didn’t get a refund report it
Worst experience is with tcg player. All 3 times and the problem never got fixed.
Question u guys talked a lot about eBay, but since im from europe do u think cardmarket.eu is a good place to buy singles?
Yes, they're very reliable as well!
Team APS thanks :)
The only reasons i look to buy Japanese cards are 1 of two things
1) Building a OCG deck
2) playing with my friends as you can't tell if there is a actual weight difference in the cards without a scale probably and you should be using sleeves anyways so the backs would not matter
Like price wise if i can't find a card i will just build a OCG deck that i was going to put the card in as the price is cheaper or i would just put it in my deck anyways as again sleeves and my friends really don't care as you can just use the code to look up what the card says on what it is and what it does
My mother bought some vanguard boxes for me for Christmas and they "arrived" at my address. Yeah, that was a little messed up on whoever was responsible.
Literally just had an issue where a card came in today after I had to get eBay involved for them to ship and the card came damaged
I just got back into yu gi oh and only buy from tcgplayer because of you guys. I can’t wait to use my blue eyes 😎
I remember buying what I thought where all 5 exodia pieces in lp condition but I ended up being sent 5 left arms....
One time I bought a NEAR MINT card online and they were bent, the edges were scratched, and the front had a glare that was all fucked up and weird
That's when I stopped selling cards onljne
i never buy off ebay or randoms i always use TCG player but i never knew some of these scams still existed
Another one to look out for, not only on Yugioh but everything you buy online. Low prices, similar to "too good to be true" but high shipping costs.
Ash Blossom: $1.00
Shipping Cost: $50.00
So what are worth while lots that you want to buy to expand your collection and don’t really care about what you get what key things should I look for besides the reviews and percentages of the seller
How can you tell a card is tcg or not?
0:01 why does Paul look so mad/dead inside?
Don’t buy single packs, unless all packs have the same holos like dark saviors.
Tcg player and troll and toad, i often swap between them if one site is sold off.
Is it safte to buy a yusei fudo deck on ebay?
I have never had a problem buying cards offline but I only use three place tcgplayer, toywiz, and some Amazon but just like eBay be very cautious when buying from Amazon they have scammers two less of them but they still do
Thanks, this video REALLY helped! I was about to buy Yu-Gi-Oh! cards but now I will be more cautious
It sucks I was a big fan as a kid when yugioh first came out and wanted to hop back in but all the cards I want are from when I was little kid but old school yugioh is so damn expensive I just can’t rationalize buying them
Is cardmarket full of scammers too?
10:43 Man I never saw that coming
Although he didn’t say anything during the video ....I still respect the Mudkip!
I got scammed by a popular yugituber. I was told that the post office was "just slow and bad". Let's just say I still don't have my cards and I'm waiting for a refund.
can you do a video on Trading cards with people online through mail?
We were thinking that'd be a good follow-up to this.
Just don't do it, unless u know where they live
Also you have a better chance when you buy it in person
Aren't chance listings against eBay's policies? I report every single one I see lol
I had good experience with tcg player/ ebay. One of the big game store bought my ghost rare stardust dragon from duellist genesis. For 500$ or so cad
Since I haven't been into yu-gi-oh for awhile and I lost my old deck etc etc is bakuras deck any good?
Think about it this way; could your deck beat a first turn neo blue eyes ultimate dragon, firewall dragon, and some other monster like maybe blue eyes alternative? That's just an example but first turn bosses and unbeatable boards are really common now.
Is that a bakugan on the left?
I didn't get a sneak peak playmat i ordered
TCGPlayer and amazon are really good IF you live in the U.S. If you dont, the import fees will make the price double or maybe even triple.
Does anyone know about another online alternative? For example, YGOSingles.com has free international shipping if you buy a ton of cards. 80USD minimum, I think. But i couldn't find any reviews of this website. Have anyone bought cards there?
Can some recommend a good sleeve brand? I'm looking for a pack with the color light blue
I recommend ULTRA PRO ECLIPSE sleeves
buying yugioh cards from facebook
is like ordering a big mac and having it shipped to you
is troll and toad a good trusted site
What are good selling sites i can sell yugioh cards ?
Never had a bad experience on tcgplayer
So I heard you guys like Mudkips
