That’s for sure lol you’d think there would be a rule for players of that status to be able to avoid that. For sure the highest overall player I’ve seen in that
It doesn’t matter if u signed a guy to a contract if u don’t have him on your 40 man roster after a certain amount of years he gets put into the rule 5 draft automatically that’s why u have to pay close attention and put all your 40 most important players on the 40 man roster.
Gotcha. Wasn’t aware of it until after that video. I’ll need to remember how the rules are because baseball contracts are more different then how football and basketball work
I like the moves. Verdugo and crow Armstrong could develop nicely alongside Robert’s jr. I know it’s hard to say that I was a big advocate on trading him. At least for seeing future. He has another bad season in terms of overall decrease if flirt the option. But now with some decent hitters IRL Gary Sanchez verdugo in spurts and last year’s best teams performers n Montgomery. I only saw the Fernandez trade realistically if Robert’s jr. a 1-2 of your top prospects. Which hey take the padres mental when trading for him. Maybe they didn’t think Fernandez was going to get good? Idk maybe flirting that and trade deadline
Yeah I thought the offseason wasn’t too bad. Maybe could’ve been better but I’m not too mad at it. We filled some holes and the outfield looks to be in a much better spot than what it was. Oh for sure if Robert is having the issues again, he’s probably gone. Not sure on Fernandez. Could have been the case. But I agree. Robert and a top prospect or maybe Robert and like Eloy or something. Just crazy that was enough to get it done lol I for sure will keep an eye on it. If they don’t want him, I for sure do 😂
I agree. I grade it somewhere in the B grading (B-, B, B+) definitely the outfield is in a position where it won’t take that big of a dip off if the Robert’s thing goes like last year. And pitching looks way better too. I see more band aid or stopgap players there. Players who sticking around only til youth develops or something nice n realistic pops up on trade block or next free agency. The teams coming along good. You didn’t rush it in terms of just signing like Pete Alonso n Shane Bieber and just star players. But the idea of having Fernandez entices me a lot. He will be a serviceable player day 1 that can develop into a superstar 1B like well… Freddie freeman, Pete Alonso, and others. Your outfield would look something like Eloy, verdugo, (Vaughn DH), and Armstrong. Would mean 1 MORE TANKING SEASON FOR #1.
Exactly. And yup pitching just a placeholder until Thorpe and Schultz are ready. Pivetta and Buehler could still be around by the time they get up there but that’s if they’re still performing. We also needed players who could eat up some innings. For sure in a better spot now in the rotation than last season. Fernandez is enticing that’ll be one to watch all season. Shoot Eloy needs to remain DH lol Vaughn actually might be a better fielder in left than he is 😂😂 but yeah might have to continue the tank. Although, we keep getting unlucky in the lottery 😂
clayton kershaw being in the rule 5 draft is crazy haha

At one point in the off season it a actually shows u guys ur at risk of losing if h don’t put them on the 40 man i guess u missed it🤷🏽♂️
Will definitely have to pay more close attention appreciate it 💯

Which #5, #3 n maybe #1-2 next year you can accumulate enough youth to ultimately be set up like orioles IRL.

We actually have #4 in the draft for season 2. But yeah hopefully another good pick puts in good position especially if there’s some gems
