I saw you out there. I made the comment to my son about the kayak and how it hadn't moved the whole time we were there. I didn't think anyone would be able to anchor a kayak and stay still. That's an awesome boat!
Great videos, congrats, keep them coming, you are humble and recognise if you made an error or hit the spot right, we all can learn from you great attitude, this old town is amazing
My wife caught her first big ugly back in November on ultra light. They give a heck of a fight. Love the release and great video. That Minn Kota changes things for sure!
For a solid minute I didn't think that you were going to land that fish and were just going to cut him lose lol. I was starting to get a little upset. What an epic fight and such a large black drum. I appreciate this great look at the capabilities of the new "spot lock" feature from Old Town as well as that first look with you piloting it around the dock. I've been researching these boats for a little while now and for some reason YT decided that you would be the first content provider to show me it's features in use IRL. You've won your like from me and I'll be posting your live action review on FB in my local kayak fishing group (if it's allowed by them anyway). Thanks for the great video!
glad to see you fishing big baits like we do. told you several times thats the way to get the big fish. hope you enjoyed the fight. your on your way to be an all around fisherman. also it allows you fish other types all year long when out of season. or different weather conditions.
I like my strap pretty much partly under the back part of my seat. I also went to a Wilderness cart from Mariner Sails... I can load that heavy 120 AutoPilot from the side like a dream... So much easier than trying to pick up the front or back and drop it on the cart Easier on me, easier on cart, easier on Kayak.. This one thing has made a huge difference in my experience.. Always dreaded out of the water and onto the Cart... Now no problem at all.
Good job. Found your channel due to the new kayak with spot lock. Finally some tech trickling down in the space. That’s a good thing, even if the price is out of reach for some folks. Can only bring more competition and growth in the space. Used to have to get creative rigging up a trolling motor onto a Cobra Fish and Dive many many years ago. To see all these fish specific kayaks is a dream come true.
@@MDLRFishing It's like the market for motorized bike is popular right now. Some purist don't understand and think it defeats the purpose. But to be able to extend the range and places one can get to as they enjoy their past time... nothing to complain about that. I love the assist. And fishing from kayak is not the same as fishing from boat. I know because I have both. You just see and experience more from the kayak when you're that close to the water that you miss when zooming by on the bigger boat. Each has it's place. But really, can't complain about more options for the folks that wants it. Subscribed and looking forward to more content from you.
That new Old Town Autopilot kayak is awesome. I have the "Ocean Kayak Torque"which is the only other Minnkota powered kayak that I know of and I thought that kayak was awesome. The Torque is just a basic model at 15' long and very stable. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles like the Old Town but I can troll around in it for 4-6 hours and not go below 50%. Love your channel and maybe I'll run into you sometime as we frequent the same waters.
My Autopilot is getting some crazy hours of use and distances with my battery. I haven’t ran it below 3/4 yet. I’m loving this yak a lot! Don’t hesitate to say hi if you see me out there.
Good video. MinnKota makes the white "riptide" TM for salt, black TM for fresh water. Your 2 batts are wired parallel to get 12v and 100aH. In series you would have 24v. You will love the iPilot feature.
Sorry for asking so many questions I'm just interested in buying one for me and my wife and just trying to learn as much as I can before I pull the trigger...I was told that when the seat in the lower position if you sit down you can feel the battery box underneath is that true
I'm still learning from you Mark... Your videos are invaluable for all of us who own Kayaks, especially this one. Thanks Sir. That's about as choppy as I would fish in... Not that the kayak can't handle it just that one or two boats added to the chop is bothersome. Looks like it's settled down a bunch. Can't wait to see how you do with that crab. .... Also I'm running 2 12V 50 Ah in pararllel and I'm thinking of seeing how long just a single 12V 50 Ah FPV does for me... So far the longest I've been out is about 5 hours. Would be interested in seeing how it does.
I have used my spot lock and nav button for all day fishing trips on my 15ft skiff, and i can go at least two trips, does a good job with battery life.
Can you recommend a good beginner fishing kayak that is stable and use for long enough before i i upgrade to another one. I also want the one thaat you pedal to move the kayak new subscriber thanks!
Great reviews, I'm very interested in this kayak for trolling raps and also fly fishing coves in the estuary for browns, rainbows and brookies. Is it great for standing and casting ?
Ratchet straps or even 550 Cord (Parachute Cord) will work just fine for your strap guides in order to secure the wheels. Hope this low budget solution helps or at least gives another solution for your viewer. Cool video Bud.
Love the autopilot, what battery are you using for your motor? I have gone through three batteries in two years. Going to invest in a better marine battery this spring , thanks
Use the double palomar knot. trust me i used to lost fish and baits because my braid use to slip with just a regular palomar on braid before i learned that double palomar is the way to go. The regular palomar is good for all other lines except braid
at the dock, thought for sure you were going to step aboard, in stride, just like the guy on the commercial ! Gotta give that Spot Lock a name........its like having a driver.......in another year or 2 it will probably be voice control.... Jeeves , take us a bit to the right, circle left Jeeves, can't you feel the the big ugly?, faster Jeeves LOL INDEED, that was a big ugly, AND a great video!
Hi Mark, I am new to your channel. I really enjoy the content you provide. I live in New Rochelle, NY and own a fishing center console boat but I am buying a fishing Kayak this season. I saw your video on the Hobie Outback where you demonstrated that it is possibly not suitable for offshore fishing as it took in a lot of water in the hull. Would you recommend the Old Town Autopilot 120 for offshore fishing?
MDLR Fishing Thank you for your quick response Mark. Looking forward to your video when you do test it. So far I’m leaning toward that Old Town Sportsman Autopilot 120. Will keep you post it as it may happen very soon.
Saw another youtuber mount one of those new 360 gopros on the front like that and edit in a way where it brought the viewer up close and pretty much followed the whole fight with it. It was awesome too bad he doesn't post very much. I want to see you do that please
Hey mark I was wondering how the SLX DC was holding up in the salt? I'm in the market for a new bait caster and I saw some pretty good deals on one recently.
For more than one reason, that may have very well been the coolest fishing video I've ever seen. Just, "wow."
Thanks 🙏
Great catch my brother that thing was massive. That kayak is bad too the bone. Have a blessed day and take care. 🙂👍👍👍
I saw you out there. I made the comment to my son about the kayak and how it hadn't moved the whole time we were there. I didn't think anyone would be able to anchor a kayak and stay still. That's an awesome boat!
It’s a fantastic kayak that’s made me rethink what fishing I’m capable of doing.
I love your new kayak, keeping these great videos coming at us, thank you for everything that you do!
Thanks 🙏
Great videos, congrats, keep them coming, you are humble and recognise if you made an error or hit the spot right, we all can learn from you great attitude, this old town is amazing
Thank you for the kind words.
That was cool. Way to go. I really Injoy that
You sold me on this kayak.
🤙
That was awesome. I really enjoy your humor with your boat, as I was grinning ear to ear upon your battle with that big ugly. Good job there champ!!!
Thanks buddy!
My wife caught her first big ugly back in November on ultra light. They give a heck of a fight. Love the release and great video. That Minn Kota changes things for sure!
Dang on ultralight! 😮
Great fishing episode and demonstration of the new fishing technology!
very original, unscripted, honest and like it is..... thats what i love bout your videos

Man, that was an AWSOME Fish. That Kayak looks to be really nice and fun to fish.
So what do you think about. The ascend 133 tournament kayak.

Marketing home run for Old Town. Great video Mark!
Thank you!
great vid as always! (I'm catching up on past vids as I'm curious about the OT Sportsman Autopilot 136)

I certainly am loving it! All the spots I’m able to fish are no longer a chore.
Does the catch board fit on the side where it's meant to fit or it does not fit there
Sorry for asking so many questions I'm just interested in buying one for me and my wife and just trying to learn as much as I can before I pull the trigger...I was told that when the seat in the lower position if you sit down you can feel the battery box underneath is that true
That only depends on how heavy the user is. I personally don’t push the seat down with my weight. So that doesn’t effect me.
Great video. Your batteries are in parallel not series. Series increases voltage/ parallel increase capacity or your amp hours.
I was just going to make this comment. Glad someone else noticed.
If anyone from Old Town follows this channel, I’d love to be sponsored with an Auto Pilot... lol... Anyway, good video again, Mark!
Awesome on the Old town and the landing.
Thanks!
Loved the content! Great video and well done with that fish. Keep it coming bro!
GREAT VIDEO!! What kind of truck rack is that for your kayak ?

Nice video. Going to pull the trigger very soon on one of these yaks.
Great video, been great fishing In surfside the whole week! Keep up the great videos.
What type of Bait should I use for first time fishing? Also what is a good place to fish in Galveston or Texas city
I have used my spot lock and nav button for all day fishing trips on my 15ft skiff, and i can go at least two trips, does a good job with battery life.
Awesome, sounds like you have a great battery too.
Would you recommend it??
WOW what a big Drum for sure! Tight Lines Sir!
Thank you!
Can this kayak be used in the large open lake like lake Ontario ?
Can you tell, if possible, how much money you have in your kayak rig total
Approximately $6,000
What brand of batteries, and how well did the batteries fair using spot lock with the wind
I’m using two FPV Power 50 ah and they’re phenomenal. I haven’t come close to draining them on one trip.
AWESOME spot lock, Great review and munster drum , just magnifico
Thanks 🙏
I wonder how far you can go with that control. How far between the motor and the controler?
i love you kayak and excellent video and keep up all your wonderful work..stay safe bro and lets see you there some time.
As always, another Great Video, and the Kayak is super nice with the capabilities.
Thank you 🙏
What size hook 🪝 did you use on that crab? Awesome video
What kind of set up is that? Can I put a trailing motor on any kayak or what
How far can you walk away while it's on spot lock with the controller on you how far can you go away before it disconnects
Where did u buy the camara mount of rhe cap
Let's say you were to keep the fish where do you put them
What brand AND SIZE HOOK WAS THAT?
I think it was a 12/0 Mustad circle hook
Can you recommend a good beginner fishing kayak that is stable and use for long enough before i i upgrade to another one. I also want the one thaat you pedal to move the kayak new subscriber thanks!
How shallow of water can you run in with the trolling motor?
12-15”
How far out the back of your truck does your kayak hang over the tail gate
Approximately 6’
What a fish, congrats Mark!
Thanks!
What bed extender are you using.
ruclips.net/video/Z2-tGK1uRF8/видео.html
If you put a carabiner on that side with the buckle you dont have to cut that strap on your cart, just hook that side in a small carbiner
Do you run side scan ?
Autopilot 120 or hobie outback?
11 minutes it took for the first line to hit the water! Is this a fishing video?
What kind of truck rack is that for your kayak ?
Custom Boonedox that I made
How much battery was used during this trip?
what rack on the truck bed is that?
Boonedox
What would your closest estimate to overall weight of the Old Town ?
Can’t remember but if you click on the link in my video description it’ll take you to their website. I’m sure the weight is there.
You got yourself a new subscriber from Venezuela. Great stuff
Welcome to the channel!
Connect the batteries in parallel not series... (If you hooked them in series you would be doubling the voltage from 12 volts to 24 volts.)
Epic fight bro! What a beast the Kota and the Drum,
I was thoroughly impressed with both.
How many pound braid line you had on that reel Mark?
30# braid with a 50# mono leader.
That was fun to watch! Congrats on the nice big ugly!
Thanks buddy!!! The most fun I’ve had in a while.
Great test of the auto pilot. That’s going to be popular
I’m liking it a lot with each trip.
Crazy you can stick that boat out so far behind truck. Not where i live that’s a huge ticket.
Great reviews, I'm very interested in this kayak for trolling raps and also fly fishing coves in the estuary for browns, rainbows and brookies. Is it great for standing and casting ?
Yes, it’s such a solid platform.
Awesome, nice fish also. 👍🎣😎😊
Thanks
How much of the battery was used with the spotlock on?
I only used 1/4 of the battery life on this trip.
Love the kayak. When are you going to give it away?
😂 this one is staying in the garage...way to much fun already.
Any giveaways to Canada? 🤔😝
Hey , great video , lots of action definitely awesome , 👌👌🐟

Nice catch with the Black Drum
Thank you!
How many hours did u fish that day and what was the battery percentage at the end for that lithium?..
3-4 hours continuous motor and spotlock and only used 1/4 of the battery.
@@MDLRFishing wow! I guess it is worth the price thanks
Great video as always Mark! That thing was a beast!
Thanks Tim!
Use a trucker's hitch knot to secure that tie down where you want it.
What a great video Mark... keep them coming ♥️🎣
Thanks Rico!
i love all of your vids!!!!!!!!!!!!! i do a lot of the type of fishing you do but in FL and i kinda just under stand what your doing.
Thank you 🙏

I’m using two FPV Power 50 ah
MDLR Fishing ok, mine was an FPV 27 thanks.
What kind of pick up are you using to carry your kayak? Nice video, thank you.
Chevy S10. Thanks for the support!
how long does the battery last
Not sure yet. I haven’t been able to kill it in any of my trips.
Now that was a good video sir!!
Favorite RUclips fisherman 👊
Thank you so much for the support!

Come to corpus and catch some drum. Sight catching with me Capt. Art Velasquez .
Can you fit a full size battery in the box. I seriously thinking about trading my old town minnkoda predator.
Yes. Take a look by clicking on the link in my video description.

Sounds good 👍
