I don´t even have children, I´m young but the feeling of being in separated ways from your son/daugther and loosing the love of your life idk hits hard.
I'm so GLAD The Tale of Princess Kaguya is in here because it is such a breath of fresh air, I love how the art style made me FEEL when I was watching it. While some parts felt soft, others were intense and I loved every bit of it 💖
I went to see Belle on my birthday last year. After that, I found an incredible love for Anime movies. I heard of Studio Ghibli for years, but I realized that Japan has a long and diverse history of stunning animated films that are both artistic and entertaining. I feel like anime movies are better than anime shows at this point. Some of my favorites are Satoshi Kon’s films like Perfect Blue.
definitely gonna have to add some of these to my watchlist, thank you! personally I’d recommend two more of Yuasa’s films, “Night is Short, Walk on Girl” as well as “Inu-Oh.” the former is a really quirky fun night on the town movie of this one girl and her friends living through the longest night of their lives, but is just filled with wacky characters and fun scenarios, in this collage-like artstyle. the latter is his newest release i believe, a historical rock opera where a really charming duo rebel against society and make some badass (and extremely catchy and memorable) music together!! it’s all about living your life and such, moved me when i got to see it. thanks again for the recs!!
Inakyu! Just wanted to thank you for all your recommendations on your channel. GENIUNELY, you turned me from a basic Sailor Moon lover (still worship SM) to a real consistent anime viewer with your recommends. I was so casual and anime felt overwhelming, but your recommends helped immensely cause I just adore you, your channel, and trust your tatstes overall. Anyway, thanks for even more anime...now anime films...to watch. Thanks again 🤍
Great list! The best non-Hayao film for me that is equally as excellent as Kaguya in terms of story and execution is Pom Poko. Loved that you mentioned Mind Game. Defo will watch The Girl From The Other Side. P.S. I'm a new follower and I respect you. Please don't take offence to this: I'd like to politely mention that the intended pronunciation of "Ghibli" is "jee-bly". Love your content and have a nice day!
There could easily be a part 2 of this. Some Satoshi Kon films, anything by Mamoru Oshii and a relatively unknown Ghibli film (When Marnie Was There) could all feature.
i am just gonna leave 'children of the sea' here best time to watch it - around midnight not sure if i understood the slightest bit of it but it is one of the most beautiful animations i've ever seen i am not kidding you guys have to watch it you'll be left with this kind of feeling you secretly crave when you're done watching you'll know exactly what i mean
"The tale of princess Kaguya" was directed by Isao Takahata. Two more Ghibli films directed by him: "Grave of the fireflies" and "Only yesterday". They're mess you up.
Wow some strong suggestions, and some I haven't seen! Some of my non-Ghibli favorites not mentioned here include Millenium Actress, Sword of the Stranger, To All the Corners of the World, and Summer Wars. Plus pretty much any Makoto Shinkai movie. Hope you get to watch those if you haven't already.
The great thing about these films is how different they all are from each other in style In terms of anime art styles, I think most normies like myself would think of Miyazaki or "shounen-style" as the main styles but there's so much more!
Love all those movies you recommended. I would recommend Princess Arete, A Tree of Palme, Welcome to the Space Show, King of Thorn and Mai Mai Miracle. Nobody ever talks about these movies but I love them dearly.
Some movies I would recommend would be ; La Petite Cosset, Vampire Hunter D, the original Appleseed, Project A-Ko, and a few others I can’t name at the time…
thank u for the recommendation, inakyu-! I really grateful that i found ur channel, your channel was everything i hoped for a long time, a recommendation videos with review like book reviewer but for anime (?). (what am i even saying..) but yeaa- thank uu-!! love ur content-!
These recommendations all look really interesting! I'd heard good things about Wolf Children so it was already on my radar. I'll check these out if I get the opportunity to do so.
I've been recently getting into Chinese Donghua and I think I'd recommend a couple of them as Ghibli movie alternatives as well. Mostly from 2 studios though. Coloroom Animation does some really amazing 3D movies that surpass Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks as technical showcases. Deep Sea in particular is literally a Van Gogh painting animated and it never lets up with how creatively insane it can be. I also really like how striking and poignant Jiang Ziya (The Legend of Deification) is and the villain Daji is like a great Disney Renaissance villain that we've been missing for decades from Disney, unfortunately it's not a musical so no great villain musical numbers with this one. Nezha is pretty, but I think it's story and message are hit or miss. Nezha is pretty unlikeable, but that's kind of how he is in Chinese mythology. Light Chaser animation is really good with Wuxia fighting animation, so their movies are great action movies. I think the characters can be a bit flat, but their movies are a pretty good time overall. The White Snake and New Gods series are both really good, and I've heard Chang'an is their best movie, but I haven't seen it yet.
You know, this other movie reviewing guy named Schaffrilas heavily recommended "Tales of Kaguya" when ranking Ghibli, and now here is inakyu doing the same thing. Guess I really gotta see this movie now!
I watched mind game once 10yrs ago and I still think about it. I remember it being a glorious chaotic masterpiece. Thank you for the recommendations!!!
Wolf Children is so GOOD! I was expecting to cry but I didn’t (okay, okay, maybe once). It has a very heartbreaking real world undertone that sticks with you. I would recommend When Marnie was There.
I just watched The Tale of Princess Kaguya, and it is, by far, the movie where I shed the most tears. I don't really know why, I just felt something. The ending, I was not expecting that. I was dumbfounded and was sh1tting tears. Maybe it's just me, tho. Still, it is an amazing film, even if the story isn't really that complex.
I highly recommend Maquia it’s a freaking hidden gem 💎 I cried like a baby a literal roller coaster but it’s so worth it ❤ I also recommend a BL movie that’s so wholesome and cute it’s called Umi no etranger so sweet 🥹
I'm obviously kinda biased since it's my favorite anime movie and probably my favorite movie overall but I feel like Satoshi Kon's Millennium Actress will always be in the shadow of his other works, most notably Perfect Blue and Paprika which is an absolute shame because that film is both a great production and a beautiful love letter to the history of cinematography (mainly Japanese cinema), and the way it seamlessly transitions between the present, Chiyoko's past and scenes from her movies (again, a lot of them based on actual Japanese films), purposefully confusing the viewer about whether what they're watching is real or not inside the story, is basically immaculate.
Ill agree with wolf children and redline just has amazing animation and characters. The racing goes way to over the top in the end to wear it doesn't feel like a race but them cramming cramming as much sci-fi and mech battle crap mixed with sexy dressed girls and thats it.
This video is just shaming me for not watching a bunch of movies that have been on my watch list forever. Especially Wolf Children and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.
Fuck yeah, Redline is great! But I believe there is something missing....AND IT IS Violet Evergarden: The Movie. Well it is the end to the Anime Series and maybe thats the reason you did not put it in here, but god damn i have mever cried more because of a movie. Yes, one has to watch the whole Anime before, and maybe the short Movie and the Special Episode, but damn its worth it. It has been a long time a story had such a great ending. Did i already mention that i cried for more than a hour, even after the movie has already ended? Well it just hits the spots. Another movie i really enjoyed, well not as much as Violet Evergarden: The Movie, was Ghost in a Shell. Thats a certified classic every single Anime fan has to watch because its almost perfect in every sense.
@@inakyu awesome I hope u like it:] it's also a manga adaption so some plot didnt make it into the movie but imo it's still a very coherent story. the art style is soo nice and I adore the soundtrack!
Thanks for the recommendations!!! I wanna checkout The Girl from the other side, Mindgame, and Josei the Tiger and the Fish!!! I actually seen all the other recommendations!!
Hi, well I will probably look for the last movie you mention in this video. The princess one. I have question for you. Could you do a review/recommendation video about the various anime streaming sites? I did start watching Chainsawman and Parasyte based our your advice.
the girl who can travel through time i saw this anime and i thought it was really good although i actually watch animes like dragon ball it was a really good video the others will see it too i mean if you say it's worth it
Can't believe i need to branch out from repeatedly watching Hown Jenkins Pendragon saying "That's my girl" smh
Don't worry this is propaganda about anime movies from 'studios' not called Ghibli
We all do honestly.
never
I LOVE Wolf Children. It is an amazing movie. I cried a LOT in the ending ksksk

While some parts felt soft, others were intense and I loved every bit of it 💖
Kaguya is from Ghibli 🙄
Just seeing wolf children made me tear up already 😭

Perfect Blue is a horror movie by the way and It touches on heavy subject matter so please be prepared for that
My favourite genre. Thanks for the recommendation
