Nathan, you have them rocking and rolling for sure. I like your idea of making strong splits. They take stresses better and SHB will struggle with a stronger nuc. Michael Palmer said maples have a lot of nectar and good pollen but usually hives are still expanding so fast they eat all the maple honey up. Hope your bees keep it going. God bless you and your family.

SHALLOW boxs are good for top feeders and cut comb. If starting again 13 years ago I'd go all brood or med. Boxs

Queen cells dry out is the #1 cause of failure.

Our weather is finally breaking today and warming up enough tomorrow to be able to inspect and pull nucs out of hives... have eager new beekeepers waiting for their nucs! Staging and preparing everything today to dive in tomorrow!

Best time of the season right now making nucs and putting in cells and waiting to see eggs. Nothing else to much worry about other then the weather forecast. Beetles still not a problem.. yet. Good luck Nathan

Be careful of the glass on the incubator. I had cells sitting on my seat and the sun was shining on the incubator and cooked all the cells on a 80 deg day. Green house effect.

I have to learn what to look for and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE If a hive is pissy and ya requeen will they mellow right a way or do you have to wait till the bees have all changed

It usually takes 6-8 weeks to see a real change.

Do you sell only medium nucs and if so, do you have any customers bulk at the medium nucs instead of deeps? Thinking about going to only mediums like you have.
    Thanks,
    Brady James

Do you just have your JZBZ cups sitting in the top of the hairpin roller?

    • @DuckRiverHoney

Yes, they’re sized correctly. I don’t know that all roller cages would work.

I’ll do my best to sell medium nucs.

I used to sell medium nucs, I just priced them accordingly and sold out each season. Everyone has a medium super to put them in, over or under a deep. @@DuckRiverHoney
