I'm from Japan and studied historical music and music ethnology in Cologne/Germany and The Hague/Netherlands.
Now I live at the border between Germany and France.
- Oud & Lute - King of Instruments -
The origin of the oud belongs to the ancient times and similar instruments were used by the Babylonian and ancient Egyptian. Until today, oud is played as the "king of instruments" in Arabic culture.
The oud found his way to Europe in medieval times and it became "lute". During the Renaissance the lute was also regarded as the "king of instruments".

I expected tp hear Japanese music more then any country , but in reality I was hearing the must influential background of the oriental Lute Since I am from the East I was feeling these harmonal feelings and they were all wonderful ....thank you .

wonderful! I have recently come into possession of a baroque lute of my own-- I was studying renaissance lute shortly before a trip to Japan, and on that trip I prayed at a shinto shrine in shinjuku (rumored to be where artists usually pray before their gigs) to find a "good instrument". Then walked in a straight line through the city. Came across the Casa de la Guitarra shop south of Mejiro, and a beautiful lute made by Toshiomi Kii Sensei was there. I couldn't be parted! She is a challenging instrument to play, but sometimes I can get her to sing golden, and that is worth every minute of practice.
