What a lovely up beat catchy tune from a excellent band who knew how to make music 🎶 and I’m proud to say I was a member of the OMD fan club from 1980 until 1990 and saw them in the North West of England 🏴 many times.Way head of their time in my opinion and their music 🎶 still stands the test of time 🕺💃
OMD was THE SHEE-ITE! They came out in 80 right before Depeche Mode with MESSAGES. Following in the footsteps of TELEVISION and KRAFTWERK, they pretty much carved out a nice name for themselves with hits like SECRET and SO IN LOVE. Followed by the music they did for PRETTY IN PINK (1986). Not too shabby, eh? Cementing themselves forever in the annals of New Wave muzik.
Their debut single was actually called 'Electricity', which was released in 1978 on the UK independent label Factory Records. While it failed it hit the charts, it has instead become a much loved cult classic ever since. I recommend that you give it a listen on RUclips. I'm sure you'll love it just as much as I do. That song is also included on each of their Greatest Hits compilations, which are: 'The Best Of' (1988), 'The OMD Singles' (1998), 'Messages: The Greatest Hits' (2008) and 'Souvenir: The Singles Collection' (2019). However, their first Top 20 chart hit 'Messages' wasn't released until two years later. That's another great track from them. OMD have put out lots of great singles and albums throughout their stellar forty five year career.
