    Ben I really appreciate your enthusiasm about making these marquee numbers. Thanks for all the work and time you are putting into your channel. I hope it all pays off when you get a ton of sales off Etsy for your plans. I'm glad you buy your lights instead of wiring them yourself, it is just easier and faster to buy them and plug them in.

      Hi thank you very much for your comment, It is a lot of work but I love to make and figure out things. So it has been a fun challenge! And yes the Etsy store and RUclips channel have been growing amazingly, which is great! It just shows that a lot of people were interested in the same things and there isn't a lot of other info online. I am very grateful for the views, comments and plan purchases that I have received. And yes I agree 100% the lights have been way easier just to buy and place in! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment👍

    Thank you so much for all of your videos. I have started my on rental company. I am excited to make my own items. I get request for the large cakes people come out of any ideas for that. You are awesome please keep doing what you're doing. It helps the little guys like myself just starting out. Thank you and GOD BLESS YOU!

      Hi, thank you so much for watching and commenting. I have never built those cakes. But if I were to I would probably make is similar to the Plinth video I have on my channel. I would make three separate stacks of cake tops using plywood as my circle top and bottom. Then 1 x 4 solid wood as my supports between the plywood. And just make three starting with a large base and then medium one that stands on top of it then finally a top. Then probably have a foam board top for the top to come out of, for safety. Yeah it would probably look like the Plinth video I have up just with a hole in the center and larger. Good Luck!

    Ben, have you ever looked into heat forming plywood? Basically get the timber warm/hot then slowly bend into shape to form the rounds of things like 8’s and B’s etc leave it strapped for a few hours then slowly release the straps and the timber should hold its shape at least close enough to pin it to the back. Just an idea may be worth a trial run some time 👍

    1/2" sanded plywood is a great material when your letters are 3 feet tall but for 4 and 5 foot tall letters would you recommend going to 3/4?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  Год назад +1

      Hi, I have built some 4 ft letters and 1/2 inch worked great. Now for 5 ft I do not know, that is tall. I try my best to stay away from 3/4 because it is so dang heavy transporting on and off. So if I can get away with 1/2 inch, I would but that isn't always the case.

    Thanks for the video and all the info! I bought the template for the 2 on Etsy. I’m wondering though, how wide should I cut the side if I want to create an overhang in the back instead of having it flush? I’m thinking so I can add a clamp to it for balloons. Thank you!

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  Год назад

      Hi, thank you for the support. If you want to make a over hang in the back. I would not make it too big, maybe not over an inch or so. The reason is when nailing the inside sections of the numbers. It can become difficult when placing the nail gun from the back to nail the inside. If you have a big over hang the nail gun will have trouble fitting and being able to shoot the nail through the wood vertically. For balloons what we do is just add command hooks to the back and tie it to the balloons with 260 balloons. It works great, hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions.

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  Год назад +1

      That is a difficult answer because a lot depends on your setup, your time is worth and how long it takes you. If you have a full workshop it will be way easier than just a circular saw, some people are ok working for $10 an hour other want $30 an hour? Some numbers are easier than others as well. The number "8" is a pain, lol. The number "1" is easy. Some people can build a number in 2 hours others it will take a whole day for a number. So you can see it really is specific to your situation and how much you are comfortable making while not overpricing the job? Sorry I could not of been more help and good luck!
