We still have 90 days of summer growing season here, but I have started my winter seeds for the garden I grow all year round but in the heat between the summer and winter we are adding compost and Amendment as summer closes out. My biggest push is to add my last 8 Birdies beds when it gets cooler. At 65 I have to do a little at a time but still bring in the food for the season.
We need an everyday eats cookbook by Jacque! Growing the plants are one thing, putting them into every day use is another 😅
I've been growing perpetual spinach for years in my garden. Because of the weather here in Plymouth, UK, my spring sowing bolted for the first time. This has never happened before. I love that it will grow right through the winter. I find that it's got a much more meaty texture and unlike other varieties of spinach, doesn't wilt to nothing once cooked. The flavour is less irony and in winter, after a few frosts, will become sweeter. It's my go to variety more so than others.
The delay is Live, please keep them comming, i have been watching all your fall seed starting videos from prior years, This is amazingly better
I planted a week and a half/two weeks ago. Have three pea seedlings, a kale, a spinach, a couple bibb lettuce, a couple smaller mustard greens, and maybe 12 radishes. Going to plant a couple more peas this weekend and another kale and more radishes the weekend after. In Indiana.
I love the Epic Gardening team for showing us we can all grow our food if we put in some effort ✊🏾 Kevin & Jacques, how much of your family’s food (savings) comes from your gardens? I wonder if Epic could make a video on partially quitting the grocery store.
Loved all the butterflies fluttering around!🥰🦋🦋🦋 Btw, why didn't you guys just stand under an umbrella for this? 🤣
😂 Love 💕 the “volley” between you too - so awesome 🤩 !!
Couldn't agree more . 🎉 love the outdoorsy brotherhood ❤
Yes! This is epic "morning radio" banter, garden edition!
I just love you guys. You had me at "bean fever" followed by "I'm doing dried beans." Yep, that's where I'm at.
I was potting up some orange hat tomatoes to grow in the windows this winter. The plants are tiny but do produce quite a bit 🌱🍅
NOOOO HOW COULD I MISSS THIS,THIS WAS THE VIDEO I WAS WAITING FORR AND IT WAS LIVE??? AND I MISSED IT??!?! By 8 minutes 🥲🥲💔
Me too 😢
We'll do more!
I can't believe I missed a live. Hello from Northeastern Pennsylvania!!!
Same! Sad I missed it too
You're not alone😢
LOVE the longer video, omg, what a treat!!!! Listened on my morning commute and arrived in a great mood!! 🙏🏼🦋🎉
I've started literally everything, one (germinated) in ground outside very week, see what works and what doesn't and make notes for next year. then revise my planting calendar based on that.
Gomphrena is one of my FAVORITE annuals (I'm zone 5). They are beautiful as they are and they dry perfectly for dried arrangements. They come in all colors so you can grow a rainbow or a special palette.
Thanks Jacques for the spinach comment. I have like 6 planted but now will plant a bunch more. And I’m gonna do broccoli raabs as well!!
My favorite series of videos.
You guys are hilarious😂 But seriously love that you talk anout your failures as well as success. Keep it coming..
Really loving all the butterflies flying around while you talk.
I'm doing peas and garlic in Wisconsin. Still have plants growing in pots so that's all I'm going.
Excellent tutorial with Kevin and Jacque. Very very bright men.😊
Perfect plan on starting some in a few days.
How do pinto beans grow in SD? Could I start now?
I wish I had known you would be going live...I missed it, but I am glad I can watch this now.
Listennnnn it was 107 in Texas today. We are nowhere near fall temps
These guys are so goofy together I love it! What kind of plant festivals do ya'll look forward to?
Great guys!!!! Can you guys do a video about starting more flowers from botanical!!!!!😜 cause I buy seeds from theres
Jacques crunch technique and cilantro is a super easy germ. I have it ALL over my garden thanks to Jacques. So thrilled with the 2025 selections. So many faves, including the green chard, which I grow constantly. Going to start more soon to plant under cover later in the fall.
I’m Sooooo Bummed that I missed this. But I absolutely Love the rapport between you two, it’s fantastic and I appreciate all the seed knowledge. Thank you both for making it so fun to watch and learn. 👍
Hi when should I prune my apple trees?
The dragon fruit livestream was great! I laughed so hard through it all!
Kevin is so fresh today, even his shirt still has creases from the packaging 😁
🤣
Love your videos. I’m in zone 8b east coast. I would love to see a closer shot of seed pack and maybe the name stamp at bottom of screen. Keep up your great gardening
Love this!!! Please make one with plants we can successfully grow indoors with a grow light.
The heat and the bugs are making me - and my entire family - loathe every minute outside this month.
But I do want to have fall veggies!
I need an indoor option that I can bring out later if I want.
A bit different here on the northern California coast… warmer temps, less wind and fog. If I plant in the spring plants are stunted. They can stay the same size for a month!
It was great to hear what you are planting. The butterflies were so charming. I too struggle with bunching onions, I tend to direct seed.
Love the 'lives'! Great communication with the garden community and great info!
Dehydrate the fennel fronds and use them in salads in place of or in combination with dill.
hi kevin and jacques 🤗
i did not get this notification...😭
im in your general area - definitely here for the replay.
i sowed several seed varieties 9 days ago and already see germination.
compared to your selections, let me see if i missed anything. tfs
Beautiful couple! 😍
I can hardly wait to get my seeds into some soil!
Can Broccoli Rob be Kevin's next alter ego? (Or maybe it's time for a Jacques alter ego since he was planting it) Loved the show guys, wish I could have caught it live!
Eric looks like that shirt is crisp from the package, fold lines and all
See, your audience does pay attention!! Are we tooooo anal?? Nooo
I loved all of the butterflies flitting around the garden!! Sorry guys ..they were the stars of your live...I haven't seen many in my garden this summer...bye from Sequim WA
The way that I love these two…..❤️❤️❤️
I am glad that I did not catch the live show as I enjoyed watching the gardening banter between you both afterwards . I did not hear too many questions from people on the actual live show so that part did not make sense, however... it is always exciting thinking about a change of growing seasons and listening to your learned lessons in gardening.
I wish I had caught the live, but happy for the replay. I have been growing celery every year for the past 5. I will never not grow celery. I dehydrate and use for soups and sometimes powder it to add to spice blends. My swallowtails love dill and fennel.
Growing Italian Red of Florence bunching onions in a medium terracotta pot is my first ever bunching onion success. They are adorable and taste great.
Love the livestream format! I also missed it live and watched the recording but would love to watch another one live if possible 😁
Ferrari is a staple in my garden! I get it from West Coast Seeds and it always performs well.
Thanks for the inspiration! Just bought some more 6-cells as mine were already planted. 💚
Seed request! Chinese Water Spinach/morning glory/Ong Choy!
I'm in Pennsylvania we have had 3 months of drought gardens are done I just hope that the broccoli the beans Swiss chard and arugula cilantro parsley will grow but will all boult in the spring even after overwintering and basically I love it reseed itself.
28:57 true story.. I grew this very Lobelia this past spring.. and it’s grown beautifully 😊.. but all season I’ve grumbled because it’s not white.. which is what I THOUGHT I purchase 😂 it’s such a great plant!
I was able to get some perpetual spinach from botanical interests this time around. Thanks for the recommendation. My sprouts already came up after 5 days.
Big white bottom 😂😂 You guys are hilarious! Lol
Why not try growing seasoning celery? It's a leaf celery, not a stalk celery. Some varieties have thin, hollow stalks that can be used for straws in certain cocktails... It seems to be easier & less persnickity to grow than standard stalk celery. There are several varieties to choose from.
I'm bummed I missed the live. I hope to catch the next one.
Oh the butchering of the plant name, Jacques! But funny at the same time. About as bad when the British pronounce the “j” in jalapeño! Is Pro Mix specialty? I get a big bag and it lasts all year. As always, seed sowing with Kevin and Jacques always fun to watch. Thanks, guys.😊
Can we
still sow cucumbers?
I can't believe I missed a live!! Great video guys, as always!
I love your videos you help me and my plants so much
I am going to try do herbs and lettuce and Kale indoors this year. I rent.
Lobelia is Jacques’s chamomile. 😂
I adore radicchio. So excited to grow it for the first time this fall.
I'm going to give it a go for the first time too .....ooh can't wait.
Loved this thank you! ❤😂🎉
Kevin, Jaques, can you make videos of vegetable gardening in New Mexico?
Fingers crossed one of those 2026 basil varieties is Blue Spice! I love it for teas. 😁
It's been 100+ for the last 3 months, I'm ready for my tomatoes to come back to life and the chance to start the fall garden 😢
I just started Russian Red kale! I call it Ragged Jack. 😂
I missed the live stream 😭😭😭
Hey, don't underestimate radicchio!! :P Fair to say it depends on the quality. The Verona one is one of the sweetest and it's great for risotto, lasagna and even just pan fried (especially with leeks, or onion). Other types are more bitter, but every one has their own culinary use. And yes, if it's not that good, it might taste like paper (that could also mean it's a variety better consumed cooked).
I love you guys! So fun.
Thank you
I watched this just now, toggling back and forth between RUclips and the Epic app to get some more seeds in my collection 😊. One question though: watching some of your other videos I fell madly in love with the idea of growing Spigarello broccoli but where are y’all getting the seeds? Or is it in the Botanical Interest catalog under another name?
Oh my goodness, I was using some soil from old garden beds when filling new ones, only to discover my husband had been weed spraying it! I should have tarped it. Consequently, things aren't doing so well in a couple of beds, despite the soil being diluted. 😢
Does Bontanical Interests have Hibiscus seeds (Roselle)?? If not, will you making those available at any time?
Oh my word I of course am all about the gardening, but y'all's interaction is histerical! Make 1 kilo slow bolt aka. fish a T-shirt! 😂😂 Now I have to grow that just because of the name.
Love this, thank you
I did not know that you can start peas, beans, celery or beets in little seed trays . I love the many Gulf fritillary butterflies that you have flying around.
So sad. Got on Jacques Instagram at 530. And just found out about this. I need to start seeds too!!
Voulez-Vous Couchez le Croissant is such a good song
Great tutorial
Thank you for sharing.
Just hosted a fall garden workshop at the farm I work at! Zone 6 central IL
Any solution for nematodes in your soil ?
So many butterflies 🦋
I missed it 😢
Hi Kevin, Jacques and Eric, thanks for this livestream. Really helpful. I love golden beets, I might plant some🤔🤔🤔, once I get the spuds out...
But nope, I will probably plant, wait for it, radishes. They are supposedly 'easy' to grow, not so in my universe. I can grow spuds, turnips, carrots, tomatoes, beets and arugula and even kale. I have tried radishes for FOUR years with very soul destroying failure😭.
Maybe this fall I'll have some success 🤔🤔🤔🤔 so I can kimchi them.....
Same, Dottydee, same. What gives?
@@jannawgardenJanna, let's not give up! Maybe next year we can show off our bumper crop to each other. I will keep you in mind as I go about companion planting the next lot with potatoes 🤔🤔🤔 Otherwise,I'll simply cry into my coffee😭😭😭
@@dottydee4107 maybe if we keep each other in mind, all those good vibes will work for us!
Should've had a trigger warning at 21:20 Caraflex cabbage - it's shaped like a cone...a road cone. Aaargh.. Nope not me! LOL. By the way anyone else being distracted by the real stars of the show the monarch butterflies getting in the shot every 5 seconds.
FYI; I never heard the helicopter till you said something! Y’all are good 👍
Suggestion; put a mike on whoever is reading the questions/comments.
Great job! I have learned so much from y’all! Thanks “Eric” and Hermy!
Good tip!
Tysm. Very helpful ❤❤❤❤
oh no! i missed this!
Really good video. I made a list.
I have cantaloupe that I planted in May that still hasn’t produced anything. I also have cucumber that I planted around the same time. That has produced some very bitter and deformed cucumbers. I’m told that it’s due to lack of pollination. I have a bunch of, flowerpots around my garden to try and attract the polymers but, they’re just not showing up! Should I just pull those plants out and plant something else?
Je voudrais une omelette au fromage. 😂😂😂 And some people call you - - - - - - ERIC!
This is my very first time ever gardening and I went in full body over my head lol I live in Fort Lauderdale Florida and I can’t tell if I’m zone 10b or 11a how do I find out for sure? Also I am about to plant potatoes, sweet potatoes, and several varieties of peppers, I want to also add several pole bean varieties. What do you advise? Am I okay with that for now? Can I add greens in October or wait for how long?
I tried looking to see if this had been asked and I didn’t see it. Now what? Do you cover those with tray tops? Do you put them in your greenhouse? If so, does your greenhouse get hotter than the temps outside? I’m in NorCal Sierra foothills, and while it’s raining currently, I know we probably still have some 100° days coming. I would love to start my seeds now, but I feel like the heat may get them!
Shoot, I missed this live stream. I WOULD HAVE ASKED SO MANY QUESTIONS. when will you do it,again? ALSO, when are you going to find someone from the northern U.S. that deals with cold weather. Is there anything that I cangrow in weather below 30’s?
OK, total newbie question here. Do you leave the seed trays outside or bring them indoors to germinate? I really want to grow lettuce and celery in Zone 10a in September. Thanks.
I MISSED IT, NO! When’s the next one darn it
No idea how you keep pea seedlings from being eaten by mice. I lost 36 / 36 last year.
Hello❤
