- Ukraine is set to receive over 40 M142 HIMARS* and ammunition in a fresh $400 million package sent by the US. On May 10, the Biden administration announced a $400 million PDA military aid package for Ukraine. The aid package includes a plethora of US weapons, but the HIMARS and its ammunition being sent will prove to be especially helpful, said experts. The new US military aid package came after Germany announced it will purchase three new HIMARS from the US Armed Forces for Ukraine. Wacth the video to know more.

The GMLRS used by the HIMARS use GPS assisted INS guidance that can't be jammed. But if you jam the GPS, it could be off enough to not be a direct hit/kill.
However, if the U.S. sends them 10's of thousands of the GMLRS cluster munitions, 10 or 20 meters off target is still a bullseye.

ruZZia has a limited number of jammers. And if Ukraine is using the GMLRS cluster munitions, being off 10 meters or so is still a direct hit.
Word is the U.S. has a fix in the works for this anyway.
Jammers are narrow frequency. To jam multiple frequencies requires a much bigger and expensive jamming system. And they've also got a limited range. There's many ways to overcome jamming that are relatively cheap verses the cost of jammers. How about by jamming a system, the jammers become the target😱.
Russia has enough ISR drones overhead to know when they come in.....send them the Iskander packages....

Close to half of the weapons the US sends usually arrive, but this time it will likely be less dependent Russia has improved its monitoring of arms deliveries. If 20 HIMARS arrives, they can be happy.

If indeed the US is sending another 40 M142 HIMARS launchers that’s huge. That doubles Ukraines fleet of M142. The M142 has been devastating on Russian forces so having twice as many can only increase Ukrainian hitting lower and provide more coverage.

@@niva0809 don't know about that, HIMARs has been a huge nightmare to the Russian forces capable of striking deeper in the frontline destroying logistics and russia only manage to prove to bring down 1 out of 39 HIMARS and now an additional 40 is coming making it 78 HIMARS and US is most likely to give all its ATACM stockpile to Ukraine as they are transitioning to a much more destructive Ballistic Rocket than ATACM and HIMARS have proven many times that it is capable to destroy S-400 site like a knife in a butter a huge Hole in the Russian A2/AD and then couple it with ADM-160 MALD which confuse the Russian AAD even further(The MALD have been proven effective against Russian AAD as it enable Stormshadow missile to slip pass the S-400 site and pulverized the Black sea fleet Headquarters in sevastopol)

Is this a wise way of spending the money ? Ukraine already has around 40, and there is no way they are all used daily! Unless the US is sending all those spare himars rockets to use in large amounts, but I can't see where over 40 helps. The us can not arm these! Or unless ukraine has had them all destroyed ?? For each himars launcher (call it 4 million $ ) you could get 8000 drones !!
Capabilities are not the same:
1. a $500 FPV drone w/ a grenade and a 15km transmitter range, without the abilty to network/protect a drone "swarm"
2. an ATACMS medium range 150 km w/ standard MLRS 60Km deployable as a submunition/cluster or hi-payload variant. - electronics upgrades include interial/GPS switch etc

HIMARS - ATACMS etc - 25-30k in US stockpiles 2022; production of ATACMS 96/yer (discontinued production lines) w/ PrSMs production at 200/yr in 2024 up to 400 in 2025. we've given or allocated about 9600 missiles from US to Ukraine to date --- so i am not sure given the need to avoid drones and a limited # of firing missions per week - the extra 40 will be well-used.
yes - the US can arm effective MLRS weapons system for Ukraine deep-strike capabilities and drone warfare w/ associated command-control has not produced a hi-volume production model.
You are right - drone warfare and munitions still would produce cost-effective anti-personnel munitions against the russian invaders.
@kevinkanter2537 i dont agree. I was not talking about atacms . Ukraine only had 100, and there is 50 used already . I am talking about the rockets 100k a go. They need FPV drone mainly because most of the combat is within 15km at the moment . So this gives them about 5 drones per vehicle . Ukraine is not hitting the long-range staging areas for some reason. They are waiting till a convoy of 20 vehciles comes rolling in. For this , they need drones or javlins or stugna ... For example, the current kharkiv offensive rolling into town. Ukraine can not physically use 80 himars Vehicles ! My point is that 40 is enough for what they use them for. They can still launch plenty of atacms with 40 units . Also, the rockets they are using on radars, etc.. are missing a lot now

Not many have been destroyed but iit depends where you get your news from. Russia will say 5000 have been destroyed Ukraine will say 1 or 2.
Ukraine needs more than HIMARS to win though especially with Russians electronic warfare being so good right now.They need insane amounts of soldiers that want to fight and I just don't see that happening unless other nations start joining the fight but we all know what that's gonna lead to.
What's the end game here..? Russia isn't gonna stop fighting even if they somehow get pushed all the way back and what they're sending Ukraine isn't enough to compete with Russia at all. Might slow them down in some areas but that's at best. The West needs to strongly consider how to move forward from here because throwing money and equiptment isn't enough here, they need direct involvement of NATO and US to even stand a chance otherwise Ukraine will lose. They have to know this.
