- In Hell Let Loose, Carentan is considered one of the very best maps in the game. But Squad 44 also has a Carentan map...how does it fare in comparison? You be the judge!
Squad 44 is a large scale, tactical FPS set in World War 2. If you've played Squad, this game runs on the same engine and is pretty similar overall. It's a nice change of pace from Hell Let Loose, with a little bit slower and more methodical gameplay.

Soul
It's like Hell Let Loose meets Battlefield and has a grown up baby. Serious. Direct. And a team effort, but there is an individual element to it. The graphics look good, and the Carentan map is playable. HLL does a good job filling in some of the details but there's a lot of shells, debris, and other objects in the street including ruined buildings, etc. The only way to truly get a feel for the game is to play it. Thanks SoulSniper for showing us Squad 44.
I tried to play this, not a whole lot of players. Def feel more like I am in a battle in HLL, however Squad makes those battles more concentrated in a sense.
It heavily depends on the time of the day (of the week) you try to hop on S44. Best time is CET evening.

It has more difficult gunplay than HLL. Recoil is more punishing, sight misalignment and stamina impact aim more, etc. It's a cool game though that I wish had a bigger player base. Squad has a sizeable playerbase but Squad 44 just never really took off the same way. It's a shame because I prefer it over Squad.

It's definitely not dead at least. MA/OWI need time to fix the absolute mess of a code, polish the maps while also adding new content, but I'm fairly optimistic that S44 has a bright future ahead. :) Plus, by 22nd of June, Chapter Red (unofficial mod) will drop on practically all big servers!

From what I experienced from this video, you give up way too quick. If you die, check the map if someone is nearby, ask nearby team mates (local chat) if they can revive you. Givibg up immediately results in ticket drain which can easily decide over victory or defeat.
I agree. As a Hell Let Loose player it's just what I'm used to since there are no tickets in that game. A normal thing in one game and a bad habit in another.
If this comds to console ill play it. I actually work with one of the head developers (he does maps, weapons, and vehicles mostly). Cool dude. He said it will eventually be coming to console but its a work in progress.
After 5 years if pre alpha, alpha and beta and pre release on PC. 😅 like every other game on there.
Just looks like it was made in 2013 with the graphics and unfinished houses HLL maps are so realistic
New dev team is attempting to revive the game by doing a graphics overhaul and adding new content. House interiors are being finished as part of those efforts.

The serious lack of enviromental detail especially buildings is one of my personal biggest complaints with Squad (44). Everything just looks too straight and squarish in my opinion.
Valid point, but they're working on that. Chapter I maps received their graphical update (including house interiors) some time ago.
graphically I find it a step ahead of hll. Even the most serious gameplay. I'd like to try it on. I want to ask you if you suffer from bad optimization like hell let loose (flickering, stuttering and sudden drops in fps)? And above all if it supports the controller?
Optimisation overall is good, but you can rarely encounter issues. However, MA is working on that. No controller support, tho.
Imagine either game with a battlefield esq destruction engine

Glad to see some SQ44. What aspects of it do you think are better than HLL?
The sound design is superior IMO. It's one of the best sounding games out there. The sheer amount of weapons and equipment also outdoes HLL. I'd also say a lot of the visual effects like explosions, smoke, etc. are better, though HLL is the prettier game for sure.

Me too. I like to change it up sometimes and play this, but it's a bummer having only a few servers to pick from with queues.
Red orchestra was the best of the best. They should have just made another of that.

To be fair I joined a random server and don't know anyone who plays, so I pretty much lone wolfed it while trying to fight over the objectives. But I would say it does generally have a more serious tone than HLL.

Depends on what you consider "fun". If you are talking about gameplay then squad44, formerly known as post scriptum, is harder game overall and some people like it. If you are talking about people then it realy depends what squad you join.
For some, it being more serious is fun. Although preferring casual like HLL is completely understandable

@@SoulSniperYT I remember I used to be horrid at HLL, would get max 6 kills a game for the first month or two. Then finally I started getting wayyyy better once I got a 4k monitor and made my settings the best they could be (Xbox series X sadly sold my pc in 2016 🥲 )
Now when I get on HLL, on a amazing game I’ll drop 40 as officer 💪 and my teammates most of the time appreciate me for being communicative and constantly moving the outpost closer to where we need to be etc :)
