Desantis is already playing dictator, I think Desantis will loose everything, once people understand that Desantis is no good. Disney feeds so many family with creating having jobs, did Ron ever created a job?
Well, he opened the state while Covid. So, he essentiallly created jobs and got people rehired, while other states were closed. So i guess, thanks to Desantis, Disney got to make money quicker than in California.
So because Disney feeds many families, it now has the right to tell you what is wrong or right, what is good for your children or not, what your children should hear or see at schools and other places and that good moral old ways are no longer viable for your children and family?
@@benpaul1903 Everyone is entitled to express an opinion. Didn’t they singlehandedly change copyright law so they could keep Mickey Mouse out of the public domain? If they can win at a federal level, I doubt Ron has a chance.
Perhaps federally but locally, they are showing their limits. Although it's likely this legal battle is all just a visad to cover up how poorly the company is performing.

Ironically DeSantis is implementing cancel culture against disney and lgbt books. It hilarious that the party that condemns cancel culture is doing this
If you claim to go for education instead of indoctrination, you can't just say: this is what you teach, this is the truth, this is the only valid point of view. Education means teaching people about the different viewpoints that exist and how they can make up their own mind about what is right and what is not.
DeSantis thinks that going up against Disney will make him appear to be "tough" and "Cool", not realizing that he's about to get JUMPED by Disney and their legal team. Also, for those who don't know, Florida's economy is largely dependent on Tourism, with Walt Disney World being one of the most popular tourist destinations in Florida! Also, Florida is still recovering from Hurricane - Fiona/Ian/Nicole and so if I were the governor of Florida? Antagonizing Disney would certainly NOT be on my "1001 things to do" list.
@@zoobrizz The rights conservatives have been fighting for my entire life. The rights of businesses to engage in politics. All Disney did was state an opinion in opposition to a piece of legislation. If that's all it takes to trigger Republicans than none of our rights are safe.
Disney's constitutional rights were never violated. In any event I thought Liberals hated the fact that corporations were people and had constitutional rights to begin with?
I live in Anaheim and have several friends who are employed by the Mouse. There is one big reason - DeSantis did not like the fact that Disney paid way more in taxes to CA than they did to FL. He put himself in a position of no escape. He wants to run for President. Gonna be hard if the forward-facing impression is one of letting a corporation dictate to you what to do. Once he started, he couldn't back down. He didn't shoot himself in the foot. He blew his leg off. He has no choice but to see it through. But, his party gave him an out. They have not advanced the FL bill that would allow him to remain Governor while running for President. If they don't, he'll have to give up on one or the other. He's finding out, the only people happy with his feud are his die hard supporters in FL. Yes, Disney gets special attention in CA too. Why? Because they also bring in a boat load of outside income. Even though the price of admission keeps going up, the place is always packed. Most of the people here don't go. Just like most people living in Las Vegas rarely go to a casino. Tourism is a steady, non-stop income stream. Disney built a road in under a year here that the county couldn't get finished in two. They have the best lawyers on the planet. Literally.
So true. I've live 15 min from Frankenmuth Michigan. It's one of the biggest tourists attractions in our state I have an Airbnb close by. Frankenmuth is 75% of why people book my house. I've been to Frankenmuth at least 8 times over a 20 year period usually just to buy cheese but rarely go there anymore Been there done that So Frankenmuth helps me make income to support myself and they don't even know it Plus the guests stay in my town of Mt Morris and buy groceries, gas, eat out etc... after or before going to Frankenmuth so a tourist destination does a lot more for the surrounding area than people realize

It's crucial to emphasize that the overarching principle here is that businesses should be unequivocally committed to their primary function: creating economic growth and opportunities. A company, regardless of its size and influence, should focus its energy on its commercial operations rather than meddling in governmental affairs. Indeed, Disney is a significant player, but it is not the sole catalyst for Florida's prosperity. The state's robustness extends beyond a single enterprise, and in the long run, public policies shape business landscapes, not the whims of a corporation. Disney finds itself in a challenging position, not being a software firm that can swiftly relocate at the flick of a switch. Their physical presence, engraved in Florida's soil, restricts them from immediate relocation. This predicament should serve as a pivotal learning experience for the corporate world. "Disney's role is to conduct business, taking care of its operations and workforce, rather than involving itself in government policies, especially those related to children's education." This is a salient reminder for all businesses that their role is to perform commercially, not politically.

Nossir... when Desantis voted to dissolve RCID.. it also dissolved 5 other special districts becasue all 6 of these districts were founded before Florida adopted its state constitution. A new district was put into place to replace RCID, and whenever a new district is formed that crosses multiple county lines, the governor appoints the initial members of the board. The changes only serve to put Disney on the exact same playing field as any other corporation. Also, RCID was a legally distinct entity from Disney in the first place, so Disney is only a 3rd party to the change of the districts.... it would be illegal for a private entity to control a government and for that government to issue tax-free municipal bonds that primarily only benefitted the corporation rather than the public good.... so yeah... maybe securities fraud is on the table for Disney too.. especially if Iger keeps talking as if he and RCID are the same thing.

@@kurtgrundel4045 Your last sentence makes absolute zero sense my man. I don't know if you mistyped or just misinterpreted what I wrote. As far as why they should they have special districts, are you seriously in favor of ripping away the special privileges those entities have in their respective areas? You honestly would go up to a 65-year-old living life in The Villages and say that retirement community shouldn't have as much of an influence in Sumter County as they currently do? Do you how much tax revenue this state garners from retirees moving down here, how much they pay by living there, and how much of an economic boom The Villages have been for our state? Sorry, but free enterprise is always superior to any economic model that challenges, and private entities absorbing a large swath of the tax base in exchange for them having the right to build properties that make the rest of our lives better is not a net negative for our state. Also, it's not a coincidence that Florida, out of almost every other state in the Southeast, doesn't have to pay an income tax and pays less than 7% I believe in sales tax. It's because when were not waging petty culture wars with private companies, we're incentivizing them to come here, and if it makes economic sense, grant them the special privileges to produce more products/services that make our lives in this state more enjoyable. If we got rid of the Daytona special district, Volusia County residents would pay more in taxes, same thing in Sumter County as it pertains to The Villages, and the same thing for Orange County as it pertains to Disney.
@@davedthomson It wasn't the problem. They didn't care until Disney spoke out on a law. They were very open about that. Personally, I couldn't care less about the powers held by the District. Similarly, the government couldn't take away your driver's license, your fishing license, or your property tax cut because you spoke out against some action of the government.
I read the statement from Disney. The started with a statement on Ukraine and the second part of the letter talked about supporting its LGBTQIA employees, visitors, and community. Far milder than De Santos or the media made it out to be. AFTER Ron's self serving fit picking a fight with Disney, Disney responded.

@@SomeGuyFromUtah I don't have to go searching for your post to know why you believe that. You are very revealing here. So let's start with the actual issue which you appear to overlook. Disney does have a very good case. It is a First Amendment case. It made a mild statement in support of its employees and customers and DeSantis, the think skinned culture warrior with fascist tendencies, responded poorly and took a number of steps to retaliate against private speech. (Incidentally, those retaliatory actions by the Florida Governor have already cost the state approximately $1.4 Billion in economic investment from both Disney and other smaller cancelled investments) Additionally, the Disney case includes the Reedy Creek District being reorganized and about 2000 other districts, including Daytona and the Villages, not and the attempt to invalidate previous contracts because the new Board of Desantis appointees are bound by contract law. Even though this has nothing to do with the culture war you refer to (which is the propaganda version not what the law you might be referencing actually says) German system is very good However, I disagree with the divisions into various pathways (Gymnasium, Realschule, or Hauptschule) at such a young age. Having children myself, I prefer the American style of general education and core curriculum...at least when politicians stay out of it (like Desantis should have). I like the German cohort system but given the US has a more mobile population, I could (and have) seen it fail students, especially in urban and suburban areas. The classical curriculum is my favorite (all 4 of my children studied Latin...3 in public schools) but let's face it, Spanish, French, Mandarin, or German is far more useful today. Finally, I disagree with the relative pedagogical value of the German homework emphasis. You are failing your own children by assuming this is about cutting off body parts. It's not. No matter what the propagandists tell you.

@Tori yeah it is. Florida government passed a bill to dissolve every district before 1968 when the Florida constitution was signed. This dissolved 6 districts, including Reedy Creek. Then, a new district, the Central Florida tourism oversight district was founded. This is done. Reedy Creek is officially gone... the government can justify this in many many ways, not that they have to because all pieces of state government fall under state jurisdiction. That's how all state governments work. There is federal government, and there is state government. All smaller bodies of government fall under the state government umbrella. It's not about the money it's about control. Disney wants to build more parks and hotels in Florida while charging more for each guest. Debt is not what Disney is worried about. The district allowed Disney to do things without having to answer to the voters. The state of Florida now has the power to do things on Disney owned property, such as build a prison, which DeSantis has has threatened to do. "Such an odd decision from the supposedly pro-business party, especially considering Disney is Central Florida’s largest private employer. Not only that but Disney’s also the reason anyone goes to Florida other than spring break and to die.” ~ Stephen Colbert

@@SomeGuyFromUtah I don't have to go searching for your post to know why you believe that. You are very revealing here.

Disney does have a very good case. It is a First Amendment case.
It made a mild statement in support of its employees and customers and DeSantis, the think skinned culture warrior with fascist tendencies, responded poorly and took a number of steps to retaliate against private speech. (Incidentally, those retaliatory actions by the Florida Governor have already cost the state approximately $1.4 Billion in economic investment from both Disney and other smaller cancelled investments)
Additionally, the Disney case includes the Reedy Creek District being reorganized and about 2000 other districts, including Daytona and the Villages, not and the attempt to invalidate previous contracts because the new Board of Desantis appointees are bound by contract law.
Even though this has nothing to do with the culture war you refer to (which is the propaganda version not what the law you might be referencing actually says)
German system is very good However, I disagree with the divisions into various pathways (Gymnasium, Realschule, or Hauptschule) at such a young age.

@@NPSF3000 If I had to pick one versus the other, then ya... change the hungry caterpillar.
My kids go to school in Germany... the school libraries over there only consist of books that are actually used in the classroom. If you want a different book, you go to the city library. In the town where I grew up in the USA, the city library is quite literally the nicest building in the city.
Maybe schools should focus on teaching kids useful skills that prepare them to contribute to society as adults and leave the rest to the parents.

To suggest the state doesnt have power to manage its own government is silly and this is just one of many reasons the law fully favors florida here.

A lot of Florida agrees with him on this. Also, a lot of the money numbers they present in the video are skewed. They said Disney was going to invest a billion in an office complex they are now ditching. It wasn't a billion dollar project, it was 860 million. Also, it was subsidised by the state which was going to cover over 500 million for it, so Disney was only putting in a little over 300 million. They are penny wise and pound stupid. We probably would end up with the expenses for one or two years, tops. I’m so scared about this. Whenever you play Russian Rullet, you lose.
this guys going be the reason why disney is not gonna be the same from now on
Rhonda needs to worry about home insurance rates in Florida...many people are paying TRIPLE compared to last year.
He’s telling all the other companies in FL that he makes the rules. Like every dictator.
Well....in democracy Government should be making rules....not a private company.
I’m waiting for the South Park episode about this. With Mickey, C’mon Matt and Trey Parker!
Whenever things like this happens it's always hilarious seeing people outside of Florida rooting for Florida to fail.
Florida has already failed and is becoming a HATE STATE
Florida failed under the previous governor when they wouldn't recognize Global Warming and outlawed solar
Just like seeing Florida sports not win a championship this year
Florida fails without any outside help anyway
@@kbanghart I wonder how people are doing now after the hurricane hit but I do know insurance is very high in Florida and that State really depends on tourism
Disney wanted smoke. Desantis was quick with the lighter.
His B$ has already cost Florida BILLIONS of Dollars.of new investment.
Ron is a shining example of a child who got a new hammer and now wants to hit things with it.
Disney is absolute woke
So much for the free enterprise system in this country.
Disney just needs to take its time. They will eventually win. He is destined to loose, he is on his way to his own destruction.
Ron Desantis is the modern day George Wallace.
facts
Who's George Wallace?
@@chrisjimenez6712 He was a governor of Alabama in the 60s but Disney was ways to push sexual talk on little kids sooo not the same at all
@@chrisjimenez6712a bloke who lived and breathed jim crow and segregation
I was thinking that 🤔
If I was a comedy writer right now I'd have an episode where Rand Paul comes out on Desantis' side calling for more government overreach, and have Elizabeth Warren comes out in defense of the giant international corporation being able to make profit without government interference.
😂
You mean special privileges for corporations that advocate for child genitalia mutilation? Not sure if you are all there.🤔
😂😂😂 that is a black mirror episode worth watching
This report didn't show how mean Ronny is and what he's actually doing to kids and students.
The problem with DeSantis is there is never a Russian window or balcony to fall out of when one needs one for a politician.
😂😂
Hey, It's been proven that Russia-gate was fake, and the only Russia collusion was the fake Dossier your Clinton paid $14 Million for, and the Socialist Democrats that are trying to convert us to Communism/Socialism. How about you just hush it. It's always been your side, not the Right. I mean, just look how bad you Dems have made this country after it was the best we've seen in 6 decades just 3 years ago. And you're a (R)acist on top of that. So you must be Democrat to think things are better, when Jimmy Carter did a much better job than you Dems have today.
😂😂😂
Republicans: Freedom of Speech, no big government, free market capitalism, stay out of businesses
Mickey Mouse: ha-haa oh boy!
Desantis: Punish the mouse!!!!
I love Disney for fighting evil Desantis
