Locks of love charges cancer patients a fortune for the wigs and for many people, including myself five years ago, paying hundreds of dollars for a wig on top of the other expenses that go with cancer is impossible. I would have loved a wig that suited my skin tone, face, etc and that looked natural but I didn't have that kind of money and had to settle for one that was too dark, too thick and all wrong for me because it was the only longer one the cancer center had and I needed a longer one for religious reasons. I eventually bought a better one for under $100 but it still wasn't "right". I understand that a lot of work goes into making the wigs, so I can see charging something but not the outrageous amount that program does.

I had 12 inches cut from mine recently. From mid back to basically a pixie cut. My hair was thin and Looks so much thicker now. Respect to her and it looks stunning. Donated or sold someone will benifit from it x
That's for brave you and a great thing you did for people that need it. I'm having a hard time donating my hair. I'm a male and my hair is down to my waist. Women love my long hair, they say it's healthy and always ask me if they can touch it. But, I really want to donate my hair to someone that needs it more than me. So, I think I'm going to donate it even though women are drawn to my hair.

I just wanted to say I am a hairdresser of 40 years I saw this video today I am amazed at the technique you kept cutting that bottom section over and over and over and that top look like it wasn't more than 3 and 1/2 in the crown and to use thinning shears I was so surprised I would have raised heard it out and made it look beautiful she is a beautiful woman but to me it didn't seem like you really knew what you were going to do you chopped a little here you cut a little here you went back to the back and then you went to the side and then you use thinning shears you were all over the place you were all over the place I was so surprised anyway I just thought I would get my two cents thank you for reading this

Totally agree. Starting the cut with her hair banded so high left all sorts of strange lengths in the back. In the end there wasn't a real connection between the front of the ear sections and back of the ear sections. Just....bizarre. The grow out must have been a nightmare.

I'm still a fan of and admire long hair. I like both the long and short version on her. Though.. the buzzed look personally turns me off but that's just me. She looked younger the shorter it got and it looks more clean and refined that way. I applaud her decision to lose the long locks for less maintenance and yes, I do understand it's not my place to decide what other people do with their hair either way.. The hair stylist did a great job finishing it up.

Wow. What a haircut and she certainly needed it. She seemed so calm as she sat there waiting for the scissors and there was hardly a reaction when she felt them in her hair and her gorgeous long and thick red mane was cut off. She just said wow and smiled. It's a great cut and she looks just stunning with her new short style.

It's a very skillful cut too. This lady must feel like a huge weight is off of her head and neck with all that hair gone. I hope she enjoys her cut. If she so chooses she can grow her hair out again. It's very beautiful either way.

Her long hair was gorgeous! At a glance it would seem to be a shame to cut such a mane off. However, as a person whose hair is also waist length, I can testify that it is time consuming (and somewhat difficult) to care for if they want that shiny, luxurious hair this young lady had. I plan to get my hair cut so I can also donate it. Going from long to short will be a big change but, as someone commented, I can always grow it back. That’s the beauty of hair.

I've donated 20 inches of my hair twice. And now its almost down to my waist again! I can't afford to keep it short because it grows so fast!
WOW! What beautiful hair before and after! She's beautiful regardless---but the short cut was well done. It sounds as if she sold the hair to pay for her education. I think that's great--and her husband is wonderful. He said he was going to miss it, but he totally understood her choice because it was a lot to care for and she has a little one. Lovely people. I wish her and her family the best :)

This is sad. She was a beautiful woman with uniquely long, gorgeous hair.
She became just like so many other people without remarkably distinguishable features.
It's no reflection on the hairdresser's skills that, while it may have not been so 10 years ago when this was made, that cut has been called the "Speak to the manager" style for the last several years and has been widely mocked and stereotyped.
I'm sure by now, in 2022, this beautiful woman has gone through several more positive transformations.
Its a good start. I think she would look much better in a short pixie cut.

Blueshift seven my ex was one of them that like short hair women he wanted my long hair cut off into a pixie cut i told him to fuck off i split up with him few months later he was to controlling telling me what to wear i couldnt visit my family see friends i couldnt go to bingo he wanted me to be moulded into the woman he wanted to be with he was very controlling in every way i just walked out one day after him telling me i wasnt good enough for him and to look at myself in the mirror he was a bully and control freak. Ive since heard he having to control another girlfriend and verbally abused others. No one should ever treat another person like that be happy with yourself you cant go wrong or far with that advice style your hair how you like its your body your choice you have a say into your clothing what you want to wear the way you want your hair no body should make that choice for you ever. Its your body your hair have your say.

She had beautiful hair and it is a really big deal getting it all cut off like that. Bur the woman out of camera shot was yapping away as this lady while she was getting many years growth cut off. Who wants to listen to someone else rabbiting on when they are getting vast amounts cut off their hair? She should have shut up or asked her how she felt getting so much hair taken off.
Also the lady who cut it seemed really sullen and unsure of herself. She hacked away really haphazardly and didn't cut well at all. She didn't talk to the client either which was weird.
I just feel sorry for the lady getting all her beautiful hair cut off by that salon with someone who won't shut up, and another one who won't talk.

Her long hair was very beautiful, but overwhelming. It was probably very heavy and took a lot of time to deal with. There comes a point where hair becomes less important in a woman's life as she matures. In general, women look better with shorter, lighter styles as they get older and their facial features become more interesting and distinct. Having short hair is very liberating for a woman after years of having long hair. This is a wonderful new look for her.

My hair is 2 feet passed my feet.
But I always manage to keep it off the floor with up doe and crown braids etc.
I would never cut my hair, I do however trim it occasionally no more than 1 inch off the ends just to clip off any dead or split ends so my hair will continue to grow.
I hope whoever the guy is, he doesn't act out his pessimistic attitude on her.

. Locks of Love is not exactly honest about what they do with hair donations. Wigs for Kids goes directly to kids who truly need them and it changes lives. I have donated 26-30 twice and I am almost ready to donate a third time. I just wish short hair would look as cute on me as hers does on her.!😁. Her husband sounds more than a little grumpy with the baby. Maybe he doesn’t approve of the haircut??

Beautiful makeover. My wife had hair 9'3" long in 1979, sold it for $1,200, cut it to a 3" Pixie cut. She grew it back out in 1985 to her knees and cut it again $2,500, then grew it to her ankles by 1989, selling for $3,800, cutting it into a short short 1 1/2" Pixie. Hair does grow back and as said in the video at 4 min 14 sec, Tragic, just Tragic, but YES IT DOES CONSUME TIME AND CARE I UNDERSTAND.
You cannot grow short hair to ankle length hair in 4 years, that is just ridiculous! I call BS!
Lynne Thew Why can't you? My hair grows pretty fast at about an inch per month. That's a foot of hair per year. Four feet of hair in four years. Depending on how tall the girl in question is, I don't see why four years isn't enough time to grow her hair that long.

It depends a lot on the person. I measured my hair and in 1 year grew 11 inches. If I wouldn't cut my hair for four years, my hair would come at least to my knee. So I don't find it impossible at all.

If mine was that long there is no way I would ever let someone cut it! Even now with it at my bra I only trim the split ends now and then, haven't cut it in five years and even then it was only bc it was so severely damaged from double surgeries in less than a month, all that anesthesia, etc. I am Apostolic Pentecostal and I want my hair to get as long as possible and I have a lot of time to make up for after cancer cost me years of growth by sucking the nutrients away from my hair then all the damage from the surgeries and related meds.
