Marc fronted his own multiple award winning Christian band (called "downhere") for over 10 years. Then he auditioned for Roger Taylor and won the lead with "Queen Extravaganza," Queen's "official" tribute band, in late 2011. He sang with them until the end of 2016. When they were not going to tour in 2017, he started his own cover band, "Ultimate Queen Celebration." He's performed with them since, along with "Black Jacket Symphony" (they do EXACT recreations of famous albums, in live concerts), "Symphonic Queen" (in Mexico, with a full symphony orchestra), and as part of "One Vision Of Queen" (basically a re-named UQC), touring eastern Europe. He has several albums of his own music out as well, as well as his "'90s Cover Series," which he mentions at the end. Marc also did vocals for the "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie. The 30+ year old analog magnetic tape master recordings would not have been up to modern "Dolby Atmos" digital quality standards, so they used a technique called "vocal layering," where they blended Marc's voice with Freddie's. You can see the tracks in this photo from the Live Aid scene mixing board, where Freddie's track is "LV-STEM LVAID DRY FREDDIE_01" and Marc's track is "LV-STEM LVAID_01," directly beneath it. i.imgur.com/Oqxw81z.jpg In December 2019, Marc was the special guest star for the Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant Christmas tour. He brought the house down every night. The three of them released their cover of "Silver Bells" which went to number one on the Christian Music chart. This past Christmas, Marc teamed with Amy Grant to release their cover of "The Christmas Waltz," a Frank Sinatra song. Damned spell correct! I'm so sorry! That was supposed to read did, not died! God bless him, I truly hope he has many, many years left to provide us with his incredible talent!
Could see the genuine look of astonishment in your reaction of Marc . That was an awesome reaction. You should definitely check out his cover of " I will always love you " I am positive it will blow your mind as his range in that cover is absolutely remarkable. Have a great evening Jayy .
Tks Jayy! Never heard this cover before and loved it! He has a beautiful voice and knows how to balance the guitar perfectly with his vocal. Always love your sensitivity to the music. 💕 Thank you so much for doing what you do. It's a bright spot in my day. If you haven't heard James taylor, a similar example of his voice and guitar would be the song, "secret of life." 😉
Wow l got goose bumps and I am speechless. Even R.E.M would react the same. It's one of my favourite rem song's still brings me to 😢😢😢😢😢😢 💔 omg he can sing anything. Love it 💜 thank you for sharing. Xxxx.
Marc is such a great musician. He did a lot of Queen songs on his piano such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Love of my life, Killer Queen,... and one of my favorite beside all the others is Under Pressure with the UQC band which he recorder as RUclips video during Covid lockdown this year. Close your eyes and you would think you hear the original band Queen. Unbelievable!
That was beautiful. Marc has the voice of an Angel. I learned about Marc some time last year after a small mob of angry trolls lashed out at me for making a joke on Q+AL's "Bohemian Rhapsody" video and one of them said Marc's name... I ended up checking him out and I've been a fan ever since. I've listened to almost all of Marc's covers and his music, he's an extremely talented vocalist and musician, but this was one that I skipped because the song is very sad. If it hadn't been for this reaction video, I wouldn't have watched it, so... THANK YOU, JAYY! 💛 (and Glamberts)
Marc almost became the new lead singer in Queen. You should check out him doing bohemian rhapsody, if you close your eyes you'd swear it was Freddie singing.
That's how I reacted the first time I heard him sing! I'm a huge fan of Marc. ♥♥ I see you're a Journey fan. Marc is collaborating with Arnel Pineda on a Christmas song, George Michael's Last Christmas. It'll be out this Christmas season.
Loved your reaction! Marc has such a beautiful and versatile voice. I’ve been of fan of him and his music since he had his band Downhere. If you really want to be blown away, check out his video The Mercurotti. He sings Nessun Dorma as both Freddie and Pavarotti. ruclips.net/video/fhwymDhyepY/видео.html
Check out his covers of Queen songs, especially the side-by-side of Bohemian Rhapsody. Marc did a lot of Freddy's singing in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody.
Correction, some: In the end, the decision was made to work with the live recordings and improve them as much as possible. The only singing by the vocal double that was used are bits for which no recordings of Freddie exist, for example where he sings 'Happy Birthday' to himself at the piano. (Soundonsound)
Beautiful! Hey JAYY! Love your reactions. Could you react to Max-A-Million "Sexual Healing" in honor of my man's upcoming birthday? Shout out to Cooper, he survived Nam-doing his best to avoid this crappy virus. Yes, I know Marvin Gaye is the best but I also love their version too. It has a nice bit of Reggae thrown in and I have it bumping in my car a LOT. While there, check out their version of Fat Boy.
Marc Martel is one of the most talented vocalists and musicians alive today. Oh, and check out his Queen music. He fronted a Christian band, DownHere, for 10 years. From what I’ve read, he is a great guy, too.
He is the voice of Freddie Mercury in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. His new band OVOQ now plays Queen music around the world to sellout crowds. If he gets a new song that puts him in the Top 10, look out
As a 6'5" 275lb Viking gene pedigree former jarhead (US Marine), this dude made me lose my cookies. Not one of my easily tapped traits, but this right here? @_@ Being thru some serious stuff, this hit home like nothing else. Dayam. Bravo Zulu wild man!!
