  • Removing a peach orchard using an excavator with the Fowler brothers.
My name is Ryan Valk and I am a California farmer. Most important to me though, I am a husband, and a father. Many people that I have met in my life have told me that when they thought of California, they thought of a crowded city or a beach covered in surfers. What you may not know is that California is the leading state in agricultural production! We have an extremely rich history of farming here in the "Golden State". My goals with this channel are to share my family's story of our farm/ranch here in the Central Valley of California, to share cool videos of the day to day operations and grind of a California farmer, and to explore other farms and ranches throughout my area. If you enjoy tractors, trucks, farming, learning, exploring, life lessons and experiences, and a good laugh, this is the place for you.

I tore out my Dad’s 2 acre apple orchard about 10 years ago. He planted it in the early 50’s. So the trees were about 60 years old, and him being in his late 80s he couldn’t take care of them any more. I always hated pruning apple trees as a youngster so I didn’t feel to guilty tearing them out with my 70 year old Cat D4. I said I was pruning them for the last time. It was still a bittersweet moment.

Keep up the good education. This has to be very interesting to folks who have never been exposed to the production of fruits and vegetables. I still have Valley dirt under my nails.

You know, I'm not sure! I didn't ask! I find that after I film something, I think of a hundred different things I should have asked.

Hey California farmer.. Is this sweet grubber a custom attachment or oem. I used to grub and clear blocks of unsold trees at a 400 acre tree nursery with a skid steer and sometimes had to use a 3 tyne ripper for 20 ft pine trees.

For people in other parts of the country, where crops we grow are an annual it is interesting to see where crops are a on a much loner life cycle spreading out over years

You must be ripping these trees out because of the extreme California drought we have had going on these past few years? Lol. What a waste to plant more almonds or walnuts, in one of the largest fruit producing Valley’s in the world. (Obviously, I’m kidding ) Way to go Central Valley! Wasting water again to provide the world with food?! How dare you. 😂

Amazing how you can't go five comments deep on any ag related video and not see "feed the world". How bout we feed Americans healthy good tasting food for a change? You don't think there are plenty of third worlders ready to "feed the world"?

You have that all wrong ! especially being a farmer the chinese government and people ignore all international laws and steel all technology and copy righted materials when they stop stealing every other countries hard earned work then it will be the same as buying japanese or korean products until then honest people should avoid purchasing there products.

@@joonasriihimaki1311 This is what we call someone or in this case Jim, being racist. All he knows is that it's not "made in the good ole US of A" so in turn lumps all Asian countries together. Pretty typical these days.
