Regarding 38:00, never ever let your carb heat in just a little bit. Open it fully or not at all. This is a nogo irl! One reason is partial unfiltered air comes in. The other is partial carb heat may not rise the temperature enough so Ice may build again nevertheless. Not only that but its possible it melts ice at the front but as its not hot enough ice will build up in the back of the system again which will be harder to remove. Otherwise great video.
The reason for little wiggle in the ailerons is your controls lock you had left on. OK I'm at 36:00 watching this nervously, waiting for you to realize you need carb heat asap or you're going to be in trouble haha. Fair enough, you caught it before it was too late but it sure as hell didn't happen quickly :) That carb heat on the Comanche is really powerful, as Scot says.
Excellent Tutorial on the Comanche .. I had a couple of bad experience flights on Vatsim as a beginner which put me off a bit...One was my fault the other was not but would love to continue learning Vatsim... Will now subscribe Thank you so much wish I was as good as you on Vatsim.
Thank you just watched your Vatsim flight to London... Vatsim is such a steep hill to climb to get it right....I don't get the impression they are too kind to beginners but very professional @@PeterMatthess
@@alwatt9367 depends on how busy they are really. Its hard for an area controller to give you much individual help as he's juggling upwards of 20 aircraft plus. But the ground, tower, approach and departure controllers will do a lot to help you out and will be forgiving for mistakes as long as its not some sort of vatsim event with 20plus aircraft for them to juggle.
@@PeterMatthess Thanks Peter doing my best to learn VOR rather than glass cockpit just now and hope to get back to Vatsim.... Perhaps, I will wait till Beyond ATC to come out...I have been trying to get up to ATC speed using the robot prog that I bought but its a bit hit or miss if you don't say the response as it would expect and goes to sleep mid flight. Please keep the videos coming
Peter, the one and only reason I won't fly in the UK Airspace VFR on Vatsim is the sheer amount of rules you have to follow surrounding Airspace. Also knowing when and where you have to contact a controller to "pass your message", it just frightens the life out of me lol. Anywhere else in the world, no problem. What I'm trying to say is, it would be absolutely brilliant if you could do a series on flying VFR in the UK. I would be indebted to you. I'm English born and bred, and not having the nerve to fly VFR with GA in my own country breaks my heart.
Great video - really enjoyed it. So, what happened with the engine problem at 1800rpm and needing carb heat? I've just bought the Comanche and have had a handful of flights, but got a bit lost during that part.
See my other comment. Ice was building up in the engine, which is why power dropped and why you need to apply carb heat. However he kept it in like 20% after that incident which is a nogo in real life! See my comment for the explanation, hope that helped!
Sorry to be that guy, but you forgot the prop governor check x3 on the engine run up just before you put it to 1500 rpm. Edit: also fuel pump comes off at 1000 feet AGL.
Nothing more relaxing than sitting in your virtual aircraft's cockpit during a downpour.
I'm really enjoying your Comanche content. I'll add another vote in favour of a VFR airspace series. It would be very helpful.
Those videos on airspace on Vatsim would be good, both IFR and VFR, as well as the differences between doing it in the US and the UK.
Yea the more I fly the more I think this would be sooooo helpful!

@@Alexander-hk5ke those actually sound like fantastic reasons, thankyou!! Will definitely remember that
@@PeterMatthess no problem at all! Keep it up!
Thank you, I really enjoyed this video.
Beautiful flight, true skill involved. More Comanche please!
affirm!
I remember your first flights in Vatsim, very professional flight.
Hah, yes I remember feeling a bit like a headless chicken most of the time on vatsim in the early days

Ah! Good catch
Great video love the vatsim skill and its nice to see someone flying to my home airport for a change
thanks! I'll be doing more of these soon
Great video as always, thank you.
I enjoyed this so much! Well done 🙂
Thanks! Will be doing more content like this in the coming week

Bill, I hear you! I'll see what I can do, I don't profess to know a huge amount about it myself but I'll see what I can do
Great video! Are you using head tracking to be able to navigate round the cockpit like that?
Yes TrackIR 5
my lord that was a long time to get going
with the takeoff at 29mins, thats actually quite good for me!

Very interesting, thx. What extras do you installed in MSFS apart from East Midlands? e.g to get all that traffic?
Using vatsim, and FLAI
How do you get the beep while transmitting on vatsim please.

yea i always manage to make it above 1000ft agl before I take off the pumps, and that prop govenor check I will pay atention to in the future! thanks
What are people using for model matching (msfs 2020) in Vatsim these days?
I don't use the Justflight payware, I use that freeware FTL library, can't remember its official name off the top of my head though
VFR in that weather....nope.
yea that made me chuckle!
