So finally I got with an idea.. I put a dress on my cat. So he can't able to pull his fur and giving anti hairball food ( if any hair left out). This way I can protect him more.

Luna didn’t start licking until I went back to work full time
I changed my shift hours (not by choice ) Her fur is growing back and the licking has stopped. I chalked it up to anxiety 🤷🏻‍♀️
I should also mention, we moved. New house new work hours and I think it took her some time to adapt.
I’ve had Luna since she was one day old well I picked her out at one day old. I had a client who found six kittens in the trash and I picked her out first but I brought her home the day she turned eight weeks old.
She’s a spoiled brat she gets her way and I love her.
It could be anxiety if there has been big changes? 🤷🏻‍♀️

At this time we are not answering pet health questions but we do have a resource on the topic of allergies: www.healthcareforpets.com/article/how-to-treat-the-different-types-of-allergies-in-dogs-and-cats/. If you go to the Q&A section of our website: www.healthcareforpets.com/question-answer/ - select cat as the type of pet and then type in 'bald' in the search bar as there are some previously answered questions on this topic. My indoor only cat Dexter has started licking and scratching himself like crazy (started about 2 months ago and has gotten worse). He never did this before. He now has claw marks on his neck and cheek areas mostly.
My vet says to get a flea collar, but he doesn't have fleas. My wife is allergic to fleas, so that is not the issue. And besides, we never see them (tried brushing over white paper and inspecting fur). We now don't know if it's dust mites, a food allergy, mold, dust from forced air, cat litter allergy, or stress. We did move around 3 months ago, so maybe he's stressed from that?
I don't know what to do. The vets are useless. They put my last cat on Atopica which almost killed him from the strokes and vision problems it caused. He was then put on steroids which ultimately led to his death I think. When it could have been something as simple as a food allergy. But it's very hard to know what food to use, especially since it can take months to see results, and my cat is very picky.
Vets in the past recommended Hills Science ZD cat food, which is pure garbage and full of synthetic ingredients. Sure, it's a low allergy food, but his fur turned from shiny to dull on it. I won't do steroids again. Can you please offer me some safe solutions? I can't lose another cat to medications. Can you recommend a safe low allergy food? How to determine if it's dust mites or a external allergen?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to take him back to the vet again, only to stress him out even further. Thanks.
