Yeah, then you can understand why their championship will have a huge asterisk on it. Miami were missing their best player, Cavs were missing their 1st and 2nd best players, and the Pacers lost their best player in the series. Depends if Tatum is willing to take a paycut this offseason. His current cap hit is 34M, but if takes his supermax that skyrockets to 60M and then you probably drop KP or Jrue and another role player like Horford.

You have to win the Chip first to be compared to those Spurs Teams

2018- over-achieved in a weak East. Maybe put too much pressure on them to dominate since they made the ECF in their first year.
2019- Kylie is not the guy, year wasted.
2020- Heat were better, came to play in bubble
2021- Losing to Nets is tough draw, KD was on one
2022- Good run, finally achieving proportionate success to the expectations
2023- choke job to a Heat team that had no right doing so
2024- done messing around, team fully built out and JB and JT have come into their games.

Ric is just making this up for the show. Here we are, seeing a team that is composed of players who are not selfish, who are all willing to give up personal glory for team success. whose key superstars buying this philosophy despite being really young, whose organization recognizing this and paying them early, whos organization getting the right bench pieces and right coach to run the system. This is an iconic and legendary team who will regularly be a playoff team and a contender for a finals spot. They are being disrespected for the sake of shows like this to rate.

I don't remember the Lakers of the 80s having this problem justifying their greatness when the Western Conference was a joke for all of the 80s. In fact - I'd argue the Western Conference of the 80s was way worse than the Eastern Conference of the 2020s. Its simply possible for the best team to be in the conference that isn't the best.

Ric Bucher's missing the point... the Celtics already made their KD move when they got Jrue Holiday and KP for basically for very garbage going out the backdoor anyway. They turned Time Lord (out for a year w/an ACL injury) and the chronically injured Malcolm Brogdan into Jrue Holiday. That's a fleece. KP really is there only injury-concern guy and they don't need him all the time. So yeah, Bucher's really underestimating the Celtics. The Nuggets may have an MVP-type player but they don't nearly have the future this Celtics core may have, especially if they don't bring back KCP. Tatum and Brown are basically what people thought Kawhi and PG were going to be, only much younger, healthier, and have learned to co-exist. As long as they have those 2 going into their prime they're going to be formidable. Think of how many battles they've already been through together at such a young age and compare that to Kawhi and PG, who've barely played together in the playoffs and are 5 years older. Not sure why Bucher's in such denial.

STOP with the 2004 PISTONS comparison. O4 PISTONS did not have 60 wins, and were not in the Finals 2 of 3 years. ALSO, 04 PISTONS (with only 50 wins) would sweep these 2024 Celtics.

Bucher has no clue what he’s talking about, that team has pretty much ran the East for awhile. They have the best backcourt in the game and both of them are under 30. The team focuses on defense and unselfishness. Why would you not think that would be sustainable?

Boston will finish the season 27-7 against the Western Conference. 27-7. Boston might be the first team to sweep the Conference Finals and the Finals and will have done it largely without Kristaps Porzingis. The coast to coast hating on the Boston Celtics is hilarious, and Ric Bucher like every other analyst is mad that the Celtics made him look like an idiot.
Bronny is barely a DI basketball player. Him getting drafted is a joke 🙄. Lebron is no longer worth the clown show. If I were the Lakers I would tell Lebron to go somewhere else and start a real rebuild. Laker will NEVER win a title with Bron on the roster moving forward
2 things:
1. If you buy the Weak Conference theory, then you need to retroactively go back and penalize A TON of teams. ESPECIALLY the Showtime Lakers, since at least 4 of their runs were from a FAR WEAKER conference than the teams in the East back then. So, that means that that entire dynasty is fraudulent.
2. Denying that Boston isn't an all-time great team means that you have to ignore empirical evidence of their greatness that is RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES just because you don't like the team.
That's not logical. IF THEY WIN, this is, at best, a Top 10 all-time team by the numbers. At worst, a top 15-20 team. To say anything else is being ludicrous.
This sounds like straight hate. I'm no Celtics fan. But Rick can't give a future championship team credit.

The Celtics went 23-7 against the West in the regular season. That's a .767 winning percentage, which translates to 63 wins. Both those numbers would have led the Western Conference. If you add the 3 wins against the Mavs in the postseason, they are 26-7 against the West. That's a .788 winning percentage, which translates to 65 wins over an 82 game season. This is basic math. Ric Bucher did not bother to do his homework before making public declarations. Another poorly informed talking head without looking up the research.

Also most teams once they win the chip, they lose the chip on their shoulder, they lose that goal in mind. Denver didnt repeat because they lost some players and also they weren't as hungry as before.
Next year i can see Miami getting back into the mix. Pacers getting better, milwaukee possibly being there and the knicks as well
