What year of ecoline van did you take the roof off of? I have a shitty roof on my crewcab, too.
It was an early 90's van. It doesn't have to be though. Look around at a junkyard and look for something long enough. It was a lot of work grafting it to the crew cab.
You could epoxy some rare earth magnets on the inside corners of your front door panels if they give you any problems
