    Well this was a very neat video! Thanks mate, I shall be putting this technique to use in my van! 🙌

    Anybody want to try this idea?look at the tumbnail picture or just starting inside of the window. You could cut out the inside shape 1/2 " on the outside that flip around on the outside lay flat on the outside van all as opposite copy, but stick out and flush, but it missing the center that you could put in a window or louver or close it That give about over 8 " on both side. It's would look stock perfect if you cut edge perfect as the inside perfect too.

    Wow this is from a year ago, yet still so relevant today, we keep on building, transforming.. Just wanted to say I LOVE your videos, so informative and realistic. The project of a van conversion comes with a lot of unique, personal choices and preference yet still require the basic to do list. Oh I want to say I really enjoyed this music selection.. too bad you dont list it in your description section.. for those interested it is SOUL, DJ QUADE Beat Factory.. one of my favorite selections of yours... ✌️ 🚐

    Great video, am doing exactly the same in my van, a transit. I just wondered what you were planning to do for the bed and will you be doing a video of the bed build? Thanks

      I'm going to be working on getting the RUclips videos upto date over the coming two weeks Andrew and also get the bed built also so I will make a video especially for you haha. Check out our Insta the brackets we have used are show in some pics on there at the moment. Our bed will be really simple

      Hi Scott, how do you find the bed actually sleeping in it, does it feel long enough? I am facing dilemma, it is too tempting to do what you have done, but my original plan was a bed alongside because I was not sure how comfortable it turns out crossways. I recon I can get 183cm with enough insulation in the window bays but not sure it will be comfortable and you are taller than me. Thanks for the video, very neat technique.

    why not cut out the support bars in those window stamps? You'd gain another couple inches and they're not necessary for structural integrity.

      Good idea. You could probly sikaflex the recess direct to the outside panel. Would just have to be mindful of condensation getting in between and make sure the plywood made up for any lost rigidity.

    Hi again mate, I'm of similar height and thinking of doing something similar. Now you've done it and used it would you say it was the right call? Also, do you think not having the extra insulation there has had an impact on heat loss? Nice one

    • @ScottAndJen
      @ScottAndJen  2 года назад +1

      Hi Rob. Deffo the right call and heat loss turned out to be pretty negligible. Most heat is lost through windows

    Hi Scott, good video! How do you look back at this a year later? Do feel the difference in insulation with the other walls? Also why did you make it tightly fit the frame of the van if it is later covered by the wall? Thanks 👍

    • @ScottAndJen
      @ScottAndJen  4 года назад

      Hi you can feel the difference if your feet is on the back of the recess so you are going to loose more heat that the panels with kingpin in obviously but we have spent a season in the alps and it did not make any notable difference to the heat of the van. The main place you are going to loose heat out of is single pane windows which I made removable foil inserts to sit in front of and they made a huge difference. As far as your comment on covered I don't follows. the square recess is not covered and that is physically as far back as I could have sat the plywood in the recess. you could on gain a few extra mm with thinner plywood but then you would struggle to get in a fixing if you were looking to hang a tv like we did. Hope that helps.

    • @jesse7113
      @jesse7113 4 года назад

      @@ScottAndJen helps massively, thanks! I meant the recess is following the frame of the car perfectly but after you put a square frame on for the recess. Wouldnt a slightly larger back ply do the trick?

    • @ScottAndJen
      @ScottAndJen  4 года назад +1

      If you are questioning whether the ply I sat in the recess was too thin in your opinion then you could use a thicker ply yes. However you are eating into the space and that is ultimately the goal of all the work. If that isn't what you are saying you will have to explain yourself a little clearer

    Does this mean your bed will technically be more than 1800mm sideways for the DVLA requirement to change to a Campervan? This is the one thing we are struggling to plan for the Sprinter as we thought our bed would have to go lengthways.....

    • @ScottAndJen
      @ScottAndJen  5 лет назад

      Don't think they are that strict. They would never be able to tell and worst case I could build and extension that clips on the edge rail that stop the mattress from coming off the side when braking.
