@@maxkeebs4425 It is 100% practical. The Giants funded their own stadium by taking out a 20 year loan. The rest was funded with PSL and advertising. Other owners can do exactly the same. To say they can't do it is just total and utter bull honky. Other owners just want a free handout and don't want to take on debt. MLB cities need to push that.. when these cities realize that if the team builds…. they have a harder time walking away from their equity… Major sports teams, they get that new stadium/arena.. when the first lease is up.. back to the threats.. that cycle needs to end.

As a Giant’s fan who has been to the D’Backs stadium several times I say it is nice. It is no comparison to our stadium which is only 2 years younger. Yes center field is a weak link in yours. We still have the best address in baseball. Plus it was all done without public funding. We almost lost the Giants because they couldn’t get public funding in many cities here in the Bay Area. So good luck to them to get their improvements and make it a nice stadium to visit.
If the diamondbacks move to Scottsdale, they would need to rent and buy land from the reservation and pay a percentage to tribe. It could be an issue that they most likely don’t wanna get their hands in.
The notion that the Brewers "threatened" to leave Milwaukee completely mischaractarizes the truth. It was reported that the terms of the lease state that the team has the right to relocate if the stadium district does not maintain the stadium to the standards of the top x-number MLB stadiums. When asked if the team would leave without renovations the team said it was something they would have to explore. WOW! What a threat. You make it sound like a scene from the Godfather...."either your signature or your brains will be on that contract." If you don't pay your rent you get evicted. Is that a threat? No. It's the reality of the lease.
Attendance wise? I think the reason being the Dbacks been just an average team the last decade mostly and they upped ticket prices too along with food. I know everywhere is up. Also think outside of the Suns, most the Arizona sports teams have always had a fair weather following, Suns being the outlier here because of being the original franchise to the city
There is no relocation threat. Kendrick said it wasnt and Derrick Hall confirmed it wasn't. They arent leaving Chase or AZ, its the way of getting money for renovation is the problem. Read the articles people. Plus those renderings are over 6 years old and outdated
FYI I'm up in Vancouver Canada. Kendrick has visited Vancouver multiple times. Told buy some prominent business people here in Vancouver the team has been sold and is relocating to Vancouver after the conclusion of the season.
Winnipeg Jets leave Winnipeg, in Canada, a hockey team, for Phoenix, where it is 110 degrees for half the year. It was stupid back then, and very stupid now. Now, Winnipeg has the Jets back, and Phoenix has a clusterphuck NHL franchise that will leave, and an MLB team that plays in an aircraft hangar. It's probably karma.
BY Public Money what do they mean? Like sales tax? or Bonds? Imagine seeling construction bonds that fans could buy and literally own park of the Ball Parks...
Misinformation right off the bat. Scottsdale adjoins Phoenix, and both are in Maricopa County, so it's not "out of the area." The Coyotes left their arena in Glendale, and never played at The Footprint Center. Get your facts straight!!
More than likely they would move to where they play in the Cactus League..Salt River Fields on the Salt River Indian Community in the Talking Stick area. More land to develop and closer to the East Valley, where most of the fan base is.
The Diamondbacks did **not** threaten to move. That's a media interpretation. The managing partner stated the **fact** that a number of cities are exploring the possibility of adding major league teams. That's all.
There will be NO new ballpark in downtown Phoenix. Most residents are still pissed about Chase Field. The most likely scenario is the D-backs move to the Salt River Fields area, near the casino.
FYI I'm up in vancouver Canada. Team is relocating here after the season. I know business folks here in Vancouver assuring me they are relocating here.
I myself don't want to pay for stadium upgrades as they are willing to pay players tens of million a year, but want the tax payers to pay for the stadium. I live in Phoenix and don't care if they leave.
iTalk already brings up how D-Backs ownership has no intent of leaving Phoenix, and that they can pay out of pocket for the renovations. So they're not threatening to relocate by any means, so a little misleading there…
The only teams that should be relocating is Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlines. Florida has no market and it makes sense for those teams to go to Vegas or Nashville. And hockey in Arizona makes no sense and the White Sox should stay in the Southside of Chicago.
This story plays throughout America, even at the minor league level. Cites will build a new stadium to LAND or KEEP a pro team, but then won't spend a cent to sustain or maintain them. Cities or counties are the landlords, the pro teams are just tenants. When you lease is expiring your landlord will most likely offer improvements to the property to get you to sign a new lease. The expenses will be recouped with the new lease. The proof is in the pudding, you only need to google images of the recently built Hodgetown in Amarillo and the former Potter County Memorial Stadium built after World War II... Amarillo spent 38 years in purgatory without affiliated minor league baseball before the new stadium landed another affiliated team...
I am from Phoenix, I went the opening game … I watched the stadium be built, I personally have worked on this stadium … enjoyed both World Series.. that said, f*ck this team.. let them leave …
In an odd twist of fate, 3 of the 5 oldest MLB parks are in California. As for the Coyotes, perhaps they decamp to Salt Lake City? Would not even have to change their name.
The city of Phoenix must be punching itself because the city of Tempe denied the coyotes from building their own arena which they were almost going to pay exclusively for in private funds, and now the DBacks are wanting half a billion to stay. @@maxkeebs4425 It is 100% practical. The Giants funded their own stadium by taking out a 20 year loan. The rest was funded with PSL and advertising. The City didn't pay a dime for that stadium and have no obligations towards it. They did some minor street improvements and added public transit which was going in anyway. Other owners can do exactly the same. To say they can't do it is just total and utter bull honky. Other owners just want a free handout and don't want to take on debt. Most to the time with a new building the value of the franchise goes up. Raiders have more then doubled in value and Davis got a free handout. And by the way the Giants won 3 WS got to another when they were still paying off that loan.
You would be fired immediately! Also there's nothing wrong with public money, especially for MLB Ballparks. On average they bring in over 2.5 million people a year to the ballpark area, it's huge for the local economy
I was in Milwaukee in 2010 and saw a game. I was talking to one of the ushers who told me that the stadium never had an air conditioning system that was adequate. I guess that will be one of the updates. I would have liked to see them move to Portland and return to being the Pilots. Arizona--typical move by rich guys to get the poor to pay the bills for their desires! I'd like to see the D-Backs move to Mexico City or Las Vegas (there was a previous threat to move there), and for the A's to move to Arizona.
I think Depressed Ginger may be onto something with his idea for a website involving stadium renovation news and teams threatening to relocate. This would be...uh, pretty spicy stuff.
The Arizona Diamondbacks stadium was originally known as BankOne Corporation Ballpark. Now, it’s JPMorganChase and Company Field.
It will always be The BOB to me
Correction, the Brewers are replacing their centerfield scoreboard with a bigger one. The Brewers’ centerfield scoreboard is not being reconfigured. And they’re adding a videoboard in right field.
I don’t know what your beef is with the scoreboard in centerfield. I don’t have an issue with it. I don’t think many people have an issue with it.
Chase field will not be gone. Instead it will turn into soccer stadium for future mls Phoenix rising fc. Which is extremely likely to happen here for sure. Real see what will happen here.
That would actually be a major W for Phoenix Rising.
Hard to take them seriously.
You can’t take away the D-Backs from Arizona, they’re the only team in that area to ever win a championship.
FYI the team has been sold to a group of investors here in Vancouver Canada and are relocating here. The Sonics left Seattle as well remember and they won a championship to in 1979.
The stadium needs some love, it’s a big outdated especially level 2, but it’s honestly in a prime location,
Back in the day they would keep a stadium for 50 years
I'm an A's fan in the Bay Area, but I've spent a lot of time in Phoenix with friends. I've been to Chase Field. That is a gigantic cavern of a stadium with that ceiling closed.
I think MLB should force the other 29 owners to pitch in a few million so there’s a less tax burden on the public
from an Oakland A;'s fan, we tried to warn other fans that they were next. from the bottom of my heart i'm sorry this could happen to yall, from someone in the middle of it.
And is it that bad ? Multi billion dollar owners can fund their own d(*( buildings. Oakland is still paying off Mt. Davis and paying the bare mim on those bonds, its estimated it will take 20 more years at best like paying just the bare min on a credit card it never gets paid off.
@@scotttildwhich is why Gertrude Stein was right about Oakland
D-Backs fans are way better than Oakland fans.
@@805fillmore dbacks fans never organized their own giveaway of 7k plus shirts. Which A’s fans have. Tried to be nice but apparently it’s fuck us even when we do. Don’t say i didn’t warn yall when phoenix gets their arm twisted for hundreds of millions for a 25 year old stadium.
What a gib ojednep
Rob Manfred has been a total trainwreck of a "commissioner"
As an Ahwatukee resident I’ve never heard of this “Scottsdale” place, but frankly it sounds made up. Maybe I’ll plan a vacation there next year. Hopefully I can find a flight that goes all the way out there. What’s the weather like, do I need to pack snow shoes?
Cities need to start telling these teams… Get bent…. Chase field is beautiful.. so CF looks ugly to you… Big Flip… Frankly, The D-Backs have a beautiful park… if they don’t like it… well, good luck with a move… it won’t be that easy…
Yeah Phoenix actually has some leverage. For Oakland, there’s literally a team 5 minutes away in SF.
@@805fillmore I’m a bit more old-school. 100 years ago, these teams bought the land and built their own facilities… then after WWII… suddenly they started holding cities hostage. Recently though, I’ve started seeing a few cities that are starting to wake up and stop playing that game… the teams need them more than the cities need the teams.. the reason why some NFL teams are building their own stadiums.. MLB cities need to push that.. when these cities realize that if the team builds…. they have a harder time walking away from their equity… Major sports teams, they get that new stadium/arena.. when the first lease is up.. back to the threats.. that cycle needs to end.
@@ronpeacock9939 are you talking about LA? They told the NFL to kick rocks and eventually the Rams came back.
@@805fillmore Yup… LA told the Rams they could build.. but LA and California would not be putting in any $$$ to help… and that stadium is beautiful.. all private too… The bears have been trying the same thing but for some stupid reason Illinois is trying to stop them… The bears should simply threaten to move to Gary, IN or at least start LOOKING at property there.. close enough to Chicago.. but not in IL…might just shake them up enough to let the bears do their project
Owners! As a baseball fan i appreciate my team's 60+ years old stadium i go every year (go Dodgers!) You guys are fking greedy! If you can't afford to keeping with renovations, just sell the team! Don't ask for the public $
No public money for rich guys toys so tired of these football teams, baseball teams they’re all a pain in the ass
Such a clickbait title
As a Giant’s fan who has been to the D’Backs stadium several times I say it is nice. It is no comparison to our stadium which is only 2 years younger. Yes center field is a weak link in yours. We still have the best address in baseball. Plus it was all done without public funding. We almost lost the Giants because they couldn’t get public funding in many cities here in the Bay Area. So good luck to them to get their improvements and make it a nice stadium to visit.
I'm up in Vancouver Canada. I know some prominent business folks here in Vancouver. Team is relocating up here after the season being told.
@anthonys3631 whoever told you that is lying to you
If the diamondbacks move to Scottsdale, they would need to rent and buy land from the reservation and pay a percentage to tribe.
Great channel! Thanks Depressed Ginger!
Go Diamondbacks
Winnipeg Jets leave Winnipeg, in Canada, a hockey team, for Phoenix, where it is 110 degrees for half the year. It was stupid back then, and very stupid now. Now, Winnipeg has the Jets back, and Phoenix has a clusterphuck NHL franchise that will leave, and an MLB team that plays in an aircraft hangar. It's probably karma.
It was the nhl commissioner's idea, at that time, of expanding nhl to South.
What happens when you play in a big market
Phoenix is a more valuable market than Winnipeg.
BY Public Money what do they mean? Like sales tax? or Bonds? Imagine seeling construction bonds that fans could buy and literally own park of the Ball Parks...
Arizona needs to fix their election process first. If they don't than the Diamondbacks leaving will be a minor issue.
San Antonio and Austin is ready!
I still don’t get your beef with centerfield at Chase, it’s unique and fun.
A Scottsdale move would be horrible. Like the Chicago move to the burbs
Misinformation right off the bat. Scottsdale adjoins Phoenix, and both are in Maricopa County, so it's not "out of the area." The Coyotes left their arena in Glendale, and never played at The Footprint Center. Get your facts straight!!
They won’t leave but I don’t blame them for wanting public money
Move to Oakland
More than likely they would move to where they play in the Cactus League..Salt River Fields on the Salt River Indian Community in the Talking Stick area. More land to develop and closer to the East Valley, where most of the fan base is.
Another team just hopped on the relocation train
The Diamondbacks did **not** threaten to move. That's a media interpretation. The managing partner stated the **fact** that a number of cities are exploring the possibility of adding major league teams. That's all.
There will be NO new ballpark in downtown Phoenix. Most residents are still pissed about Chase Field. The most likely scenario is the D-backs move to the Salt River Fields area, near the casino.
FYI I'm up in vancouver Canada. Team is relocating here after the season. I know business folks here in Vancouver assuring me they are relocating here.
Relocate to Las Vegas who was supposed to be their original home in the first place..Tell the A’s to go someplace else
whys he keep saying “leave phoenix area for scottsdale” as if its not a suburb lol
Move them to Las Vegas, Utah or Portland.
Their relocating to Vancouver. I know sources here telling me that.
Call their bluff. I'm tired of these billionaires shaking down the public.
The only city I visualize acquiring the DiamondBacks is Salt Lake City.
Ken Kendrick is a billionaire in his eighties. He should just calm down instead of hinting about relocating.
this guy's autism is seriously similar to mine i feel like i have a spiritual bond with you brother
Scottsdale won’t give them public subsidies 😆
Why spend 1/2 a billion stadium for a sport that’s dying a baseball stadium can only be a baseball stadium
I am from Phoenix, I went the opening game … I watched the stadium be built, I personally have worked on this stadium … enjoyed both World Series.. that said, f*ck this team.. let them leave …
I was convinced a couple years ago they were going to LV.
FYI they are relocating up to Vancouver Canada
We want to move and build an entirely new stadium, and y'all are gonna' pay for it.
In an odd twist of fate, 3 of the 5 oldest MLB parks are in California. As for the Coyotes, perhaps they decamp to Salt Lake City? Would not even have to change their name.
California is the most populous state in the entire country so don’t get the point. It’s not like California just left Mexico 10 years ago lol.
Team has 1 winning seasons in a decade and they threaten to leave 😂
Terry from Savannah nothing wrong with Chase field and if Diamondbacks want to leave let them leave maybe nobody will want them .
The city of Phoenix must be punching itself because the city of Tempe denied the coyotes from building their own arena which they were almost going to pay exclusively for in private funds, and now the DBacks are wanting half a billion to stay. It just sounds like sports in the city are collapsing, they need a win somewhere.
Why would you want the Coyotes franchise associated with your city? I would want my city to be known in a positive way lol
@@PHXNKVHXLIC they bring in money and who doesn’t want an NHL team? It brings in tourism and money to surrounding businesses and such. Businesses in Glendale have gone to the gutters now that coyotes have left because of the lack of business. It’s overall a thing you should want in a large metropolitan area.
Utah will take them
Let them go... Scottsdale won't spend a dime
And scottsdale wouldnt want them either because they dont want people going into their town and vandalizing and what not
Scottsdale is a way nicer area. Glendale did good with the Cardinals stadium.
The Arizona Diamondbacks aint moving out of Arizona Plain and simple dont be dumb
look at what's happening in Oakland
in Arizona it would be way worse
Not going to happen. Except for Los Angeles, New York or Chicago, every team threatens to leave when their stadium lease is almost up.
The White Sox are making this threat right now.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Good riddance.
No, they're threaten to relocate out of Phoenix.
that stadium is great, why tf they want more money, have you been to the phoenix suns footprint center? that's trash and needs the money more than chase field
Don’t let the door hit ………….
Buffalo Diamondbacks
How about fans start up a crowdfunding account to pay for these stadium upgrades or new venues?
Oh no they’re moving 10 miles up the road how will people from phoenix get to watch baseball 😅
Chase Field is already nice though😂
We cannot allow billionaires use their own money to build things. We cannot tax billionaires, because we owe them.
Dam do all teams just threaten to leave, millionaires to broke
Billionaires wanting handouts. Guess that’s how they got rich. Franchise goes up 100 times in value, they get free renovations, then they eventually cash out. Good work if you can get it. I guess they’ll be setting up a Go Fund Me too. 🤣
A total of 6 people would care if they moved. Welcome to AZ
Oakland needs a Hockey a Team.
