    I have the LC15 (this, only 25 years old), and a brand new Cub 8 (the last version made b4 they deleted the model). Love them both, big time. The LC series was and is a GREAT sleeper, I got my LC50 mk. II for $300, from the original owner (she was going to college, owned it 10 years, never left her bedroom, came w/ the original tubes). These amps are HUGE!

    Highly recommend it!🤟🏻🔥🎸

    Just used it in a small gig (medium size pub) and was more than enought. Plugged in 15W using my pedals; Gain at 3 (wanted as clean as possible) and Volumen at 6/7. Recommend for the price. I play punk rock and could match that drummer intensity without using a Mic

    I have the original Cub12R with a Vintage 30 swapped for the stock HH and it's amazing. With my modified Blues Junior IV (Fromel mods and an Eminence L'il Texas Neo speaker) it's the ultimate lightweight, portable dual amp rig. Perfect for stereo or, my preference, wet-dry.

    I have the Laney CUB-Super 12. I usually just have it on break up or over drive it with a tube screamer or distortion or both.The 1watt is good for at home, 15watt can get loud. But one thing I like is that the Super 12 can drive a cab so no problems most times with drummers.

Also have a AC 15 C1 & a Peavey Classic 30 & many more + a fair few different kinds of guitars. Gretsch, Epi 56 Gold top special & SG Goth, 3 teles, 4 different Strats. Just bought a mij early 80s SQ. New Favorite! ❤

    I own the head version. I bought it as soon as I could on release.
    It’s not the amp I’ve used the most.
    That honor goes to the ‘’Polytone Mini-Brute I’’ combo and the ‘’Victory VC35’’ head.

    I wonder how these compare with the Vox AC10C1? I was looking for a used Super-Cub 12 for ages but a well-priced Vox AC10C1 came up in my search first so I went with that, but the Laney has some really cool features that the AC10C1 lacks.
    Would this be as loud as an AC10C1?

    • @FabrizioPeretti
      @FabrizioPeretti Год назад +2

      Even a bit more versatile in terms of tone. I was really impressed trying it in the shop, I don't always like that "vox" nasal quality so this little amp, as quick and reactive as the vox but "flatter" is really cool to me

    I usually like to play on the neck pick up and it wasn't a lot of that to be heard here.
    Otherwise, it seemed a little fizzy and trembly and not very nice sounding.
    How much tube is this amp? Is the boost a tube booster that sold state boost?
    This is a pretty expensive amp at around $739 USD. Much more expensive than the Harley Benton 15, although that amp has been known to generate noise.

    • @Robstafarian
      @Robstafarian 8 месяцев назад

      This is a JCM 800 preamp, apart from the boost circuit and digital reverb, hence most of the old tricks to tame JCM 800 fizz should work (the Laney's lack of a presence control complicates translation). The amp will sound darker with the gain turned up, which can be combined with lowering the treble control (even to zero) to balance the fizziness, and a cleaner sound can be achieved by rolling off the guitar volume (though it helps to have a treble-bleed circuit).

  • @NintenDub

    • @JPG747
      @JPG747 Год назад +1

      You might not do it every week but when you do, you will see what a PITA it is. On mine the chassis screws all sheared on removal, the wood inserts were poor quality, it was more agro than it was worth for an amp with an ordinary sound, and struggled in my studio sessions. You will need to bias the valves as well, Laney say at 20 so they run cooler than most. Never gelled with this amp, it's saving grace was the 1 watt input but not enough to save it from the dustbin.

  • @Wooburnmusic

    A straight valve amp 3 ECC 83 and 2 EL 34 + a couple of pedals and thats all you will need, this poor little Laney is all distortion ....... Pretty useless onstage, phew, glad i never fell for this amp. 🙂👍🇬🇧

    'Boutique amp' vs 'budget amp'.
    Friend of mine is a technician, he says this is a tweaked Monoprice/Harley Benton Tube15, same circuit and components (except for the speaker), but at double the price. Even the knobs and the connections at the back panel are identical. This doesn't have a spring reverb however, just a digital one. They split the 1-15 Watt attenuator switch into 2 inputs and added the 'boost' function. You can buy one hell of a boost pedal for half of the money that this amp costs. LOL.

      @easye9-21 9 месяцев назад

      This is a ridiculous comment on so many levels. I got it used for around 500 bucks and this amp punches way above it's weight class. I have far more expensive amps and lately have been playing this one the most. Great sounding amp.

    • @Robstafarian
      @Robstafarian 8 месяцев назад +1

      Your technician friend is woefully lacking in knowledge of amp history, including recent history: the Monoprice/Harley Benton amps are clones of the original Laney CUB amps. The Laney Super CUB amps are effectively a response to that cloning such that Laney's amps have differentiating features. The Laney CUB12 preamp is pretty much a JCM 800 preamp; how many years after Laney released their CUB12 did Marshall release their SC20? I doubt your technician friend could answer that without looking it up. By the way, your technician's misinformation also indicates that he does not understand how reverb tanks are driven: that is a significant difference in the amp topology. I would not let your friend near any of my equipment, particularly my tools.
