Liz’s connection to Guiding Light first began as a fan before she joined the cast and took over the role of Blake Thorpe in 1992. Liz played this pivotal role for 17 years.
Before Guiding Light came calling, Liz appeared on The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. In addition to her daytime roles, Liz appeared in several hit primetime series including Happy Days, Cheers, The Facts of Life, Full House, and Married with Children to name a few.
Liz continues to act, but also spends her time as a Relationship and Self Belief coach.

Guiding Light is still sorely missed, Liz looks great, liked her as Blake and she and the late Jerry verr Dorn were good together..
The Guiding Light producers did Jerry verDorn wrong by not renewing his contract.
@@GeminiladyJackson-xq6hc Agree, it was weird seeing him as "Clint Buchanan" on One Life To Live...
@@cathleanjohnson675 My late mom loved The Guiding Light and she was devastated when the show left the air in 2009. Michael Zaslow, who played Roger Thorpe, was her favorite actor.
He did a great job as Clint and was loved by all.@@cathleanjohnson675
@@GeminiladyJackson-xq6hc Wow! My late Mom and I were also GL fans and were both sad when the show ended, also miss ATWT too...
Alan, Guiding Light really is the best soap of all time. Thank you for these interviews!
It really is! You're so welcome.
I agree
Blake was one of my many favorites on Guiding Light! I love that Liz was a fan girl of the show first!
A boyfriend once said I resembled Blake in some of my picture and I never forgot that. Can you image ❤❤
Hiya Lizzy! Am so sorry u lost your "love", & Dearest Friend, our Wonderful Ross! We have all loved him & u for thr psst 35 yrs! To heck with Vanessa! U were Ross's love of his life! We all love both of u! 🥰
Ross and Blake were a hot fun mess!
You look the same. Youve brought back cherished memories just by showing up Elizabeth. Thank You. Thank You Alan.
You bet. So happy you enjoyed it.
Happy 87th Guiding Light🎉
Thank you Alan❤
Thank you Liz❤
You bet, Sandy!
Happy 87th Anniversary Guiding Light! 🎂👏🏽
Love you too Liz! ❤️
I started watching Guiding Light in 1982, a few years after Liz started watching but I was a bit too young to see Kirsten Vigard but I was in love with Jennifer Cooke as Morgan, omg.I think Liz is a vampire because she hasn't aged.
🤣🤣Thank you for tuning-in!
I was in junior high when Kirsten played Amanda's half sister. I grew up with the CBS soaps as well. I liked Blake and Ross too. As a kid, I liked Ben and Eve too. Eve was Rita's kid sister. She regained her sight later.
She's wonderful.
Liz looks great ❤
According to Wikipedia she’s 62 and I swear she looks… idk maybe 40 something, if that- and still better than a lot of us at that age. (And I’m 49 myself)
Destiny makes us brothers. No man walks this earth alone. All that we bring forth into the lives of others, comes back into our own. A comforting and beautiful interview. Oh my. 🦋🦋
Love you, Maybeth! Thank you for watching.
Happy 87th Anniversary GL! I loved this interview with Liz. She's just wonderful. Liz and Jerry were magic together. I started watching GL visiting my grandmother. She loved Morgan and Kelly. And of course the whole cast. We watched it until the end. So missed still. Thanks for this celebration of GL Alan! ❤
My pleasure! Thank you so very much.
@@TheLocherRoom And you had Bradley Cole singing with Kim. You are spoiling us! ☺️
Another wonderful interview! Liz made the role her own. In 1996 my friend had a baby & she named her daughter Blake after Blake Marler.
Love that, Michael. Thank you for sharing.
🎉 Salutations from coastal Mississippi. Thank you my friend, Alan for this gift from the anniversary of Guiding Light. I truly enjoyed the interview . One of your best. At my cafe, the Lighthouse, l have it decorated with daytime drama items, some I collected over the years, some l re-created. May the Lighthouse always shines 😂
I love this!
So happy to read your note, Scott. Thank you.
Liz looks amazing! So great to see you two chatting away 👊🏼
My favorite Blake!
I watched Guiding Light from when I was 10 to 24(1980-1994), and I do remember Liz playing the character of Blake. She did an amazing job.❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you and Liz for making my day..I had stopped watching Guiding Light when it started filming on location..No more wonderful sets and background music. One of my fondest storylines was all Blake Marler..Miss the show and her..I tuned in for the final episode and was in tears about Alan..What great memories!! I would record GL and binge watch it on weekends..Thanks a bunch Alan💖
You bet, Guy! Thank you for watching and for the note.
I miss Jay Hammer, who played Fletcher Reade on the show.
Loved Jay. He's a dear friend. Did you see the interview with him and Susan Pratt?
@@TheLocherRoom Yes, I did. I enjoyed the interview.
Oh man I loved Fletcher. ❤❤❤❤
Blake was so great but loved her with Roger!
Loved how she would go to Roger for advice… knowing damn well he would basically give her permission to act on her own worst impulses. ❤
Thanks Liz..you are amazing! Alan you are responsible for bringing back the LIGHT and joy we need. Many thanks.
Anything for you, Lee. Happy Weekend!
Truly a beautiful informative heartfelt interview 💯👏💯👍💯😊💯⭐️💯❤️🙏
😍😍😍
Thanks Alan and Liz
i LOVE blake!! when i started retro-viewing these soaps a few yrs ago, she stood out & i could clearly remember her as a character on GL & then all the one & resonance came back that i used to feel about these people when i watched them the 1st time. SOO exctied to get the shirt!! can't wait 'til it comes in the mail . . .t
Awww -- thanks so much ordering a shirt and for watching this interview with Liz. I'm so glad yo uenjoyed it.
So sad I missed it but going to watch it later!!! Thanks Alan!!
Enjoy it. Please let me know what you thought.
Thank you so much for this wonderful interview, Alan. Liz Kieffer is simply a delight. I just love all the memories she shared from her time at Guiding Light. I started watching a little before she did and also loved the Ben, Eve, and Amanda Spaulding storyline. Seeing Stephen Yates on the screen as I walked through the den where my mother was watching GL made me stop in my tracks (and maybe drool a little 😂). From that moment on, I was hooked. Happy Birthday, Guiding Light. 🎂🎁🎉
I don't know if RUclips will allow this link, but I'm going to try …

Love it, Jill. Ben & Eve - my heart.
Awww -- thank you, Jill. I'll share this with Liz.
So wish they could get the actors/actresses who played Ben, Eve, and Diane to appear on your program!!
@@TheLocherRoom, that's so nice. Thank you, Alan.
Alan, I like the little TV rainbow bars at the very beginning of the video, and how they make a little chime sound that brings all who are about to watch happiness. That is so you :)
Awww -- Love that, Erik. Thank you for sharing. I'm going to share that with my friend Paul who created it.
45:45 I remember having that magazine with all the Blakes. ❤
Alan, as always you rock!😊
😍😍😍😍
He’s the best. ❤
These shows make me feel so emotional
I appreciate Liz speaking up about the last few years of the show. The cast went through HELL with Peapack crap! Blake basically had no family, no Ross, no kids, Roger, Hart, and Holly.
😢😢😢😢
What??? She is stunning!!!
This was a really fun one to watch! Liz had such great stories of life at GL and in her own life. Great storyteller! I echo her sentiments on the work you do to keep us connected to soaps of today and yesterday. It's important. Keep it up, my friend!
Much appreciated, Ron! Thanks for watching. Always love seeing a note from you. BTW -- the new merchandise is available. I think you wanted a mug.
@@TheLocherRoom Thanks for the reminder. Ordered!
Wow! I just randomly stumbled upon this. Absolutely wonderful - love Liz Keifer! Guiding Light was a HUGE part of my life for 30+ years and I still miss it. Alan, thank you for all you do. You just gained a new fan! 😀
Greg -- So happy to have you here. Thank you for tuning-in an for your note. Have a look around -- There are some other shows to check out ruclips.net/p/PLK3_-VS_RnFHftsSBvKL1YWcpSdAeGuQ6
Great interview. Love everyone that you do Allen ❤
I appreciate it, Jimmie! Thank you.
I'm late to this podcast. But I will enjoy it nonetheless. Liz thank you for your work on GL through the years. I think one of my more memorable scenes was the David Grant trial. When the case was dismissed, the GL vocal theme came on, Bridget rushed into David's arms, and the great Jerry VerDorn gave a big nod to his love Blake. What a moment what a show! Thanks Alan for keeping the memories alive and bringing them to another generation
Awww - love this Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it.
I am so glad you love the glass and it brings you joy!
Love it!!! Always use it.
I would’ve love to have gotten her take on whether the soaps would ever be available to stream? Whether she’s in support of this, etc. I know it would be a long, taxing task, but I just think it’s long overdue. Maybe if some former soap stars were on board, something might get done. 😊😊
She would love nothing more. I promise, but it's out of her hands.
I hate that soap net doesn’t exist anymore. (Even though it was primarily ABC soaps)
We need a soap network back!!!!
Thanks for this interview! Love Liz Keifer, a perfect replacement for the character of Blake, the transition was seamless. Eventually, Liz made the character her own, wonderful actress. I hope she appears on YR or BB as main character one day. :)
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for letting me know.
What a wonderful interview. I always loved Liz! What another nice surprise last night while watching cheers she made an appearance in a scene with Woody. season 4 episode 2
Oh wow -- love that, Via. Thank you for watching.
I would love for you to know how much I appreciate your response and more so I much I appreciate that you have created this channel- this special place where we can enjoy seeing so many people that we truly miss!! I have wondered many times how these people are doing. I have missed them. Many of them were a part of my life since 1976 when I would watch GL with my Grandma. It’s hard to explain the memories and connections that went along with these special shows. GL was the most special of them all.
I was born in 1975 and I say I watched Guiding Light since 1975 ❤
But I think the first story I really remember was Beth and Lujack. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
And then… Reva & Josh and Maureen, Ed and Michelle.
And I remember my mom telling me backstory about Holly and Roger.
When I was in high school, I got “glamour shots” and then I showed the picture to a boyfriend and he said I looked “all Blake about it.” Which I just LOVED. I never forgot the thrill of being compared to Blake/Liz. ❤
Blake and Harley were just ❤❤❤❤❤

Happy anniversary just last week I worked with Robert Newman on LAW AND ORDER SVU
You did!!! I love that. Can't wait to see it.
How cool. Such a handsome man!! ❤
Thanks Liz for this and Alan, this makes me miss GL even more, Happy 87th Anniversary! I didn't know Liz was in all those shows, I didn't even know she was on Y&R as Traci's friend. And that picture with all the Blakes was wild, Alan when was that picture taken and that was the original Blake (Christina). She was called Christina back then in the 70s. Good interview and I miss Jerry so much, he was the anchor of GL and unfairly let go! And Alan thanks for asking my question about India calling Blake Blaze!
You bet, Dee! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Happy Sunday!
@@TheLocherRoom Happy Sunday to you too!
I recall when she was in college, Tracy had a friend named Andrea. She was very nice. Her mom was in a mental hospital. I don't recall if Liz played her.
What a great interview!
Loved this. Thank you for putting it together. Great stories.
You bet, Grant! Thanks for watching.
40:12 This is the craziest story…. Because it links directly to why I’m watching this video.
I’m reading this book I read back when I was a young teen called “The Finishing School.”
The main character is a 14 year old girl named Justin. It’s her mother’s maiden name and she meets this woman named Ursula DeVane who I was at first picturing as Maura West until she turned out to be a red-head and I immediately thought of Blake and Ross which led me to a google search which led me to this video.
The woman, I picture her as sort of elegant and effortlessly dramatic *but not pretentious* which is just a hard note to hit…
The actresses that I pictured pulling it off (I’m casting the book in my head of course) were Maura West and then i realized she was a red head it could also Marj Dusay, back in the day, or Liz 😊 and then I saw this video and just thought Liz would definitely be the character in my head. :)
Kelly and Morgan also hooked me when I was 12. My mom watched. I had the biggest crush on John Wesley Shipp. I wrote him a letter and he sent me a postcard back. I wish I still had it.
John Wesley and his Kelly certainly had an impact on many of us.
He played Dawson's dad on Dawson's Creek.
I wish they would bring guiding light to streams HI by
Liz Keifer looks Great!! Loved her as Blake, and I think she later was married to Jerry Van Dorn (Ross) then, Ed, and his wife who passed, away, then you did not see him on the show too much, I was wondering what happen to him? but all the Characters on GL were Wonderful!!! I watched both CBS and ABC soaps...It's been so long, I'm trying to remember all their names...
Blake was never married to Ed Bauer. She only married Ross.
@@TheLocherRoom Oh I meant Ed Bauer left the show, if i remember, after his wife on the show died, and I cannot remember her name???
@@maryannrenzulli2426Maureen
have u interviewed Jane Elliot?
Sadly not. I would love nothing more.
@@TheLocherRoom An interview with Jane, aka "Tracy Quartermane," would be wonderful 😊
Alan and Jane would be awesome 😊
Until it was canceled I always assumed that Ross would come back.
@29.50 shadows of Mildred Pierce.
It's a shame the way some vets get (mis)treated in the business! 😡👎👎
So true!
Procter and Gamble did Jerry wrong! After 26 years of loyalty to not renew his contract😢. P&G killed GL, not Ellen Wheeler
Ikr?! But after what they did to Michael Zaslow, the GREAT Roger Thorpe, should we really be that surprised? Michael was sick. He gave his life to that show, as did Our Jerry. And look at what they did to both of them! 😭
Consider I like P&G products, that is very sad they were treated that way.
@@rachelkristine4669I was so mad!!! It would have been great if they wrote his sickness in and took at as a chance to do a redemption arch.
I remember noticing him trembling before it came out and I thought it was on purpose for a story that was coming… I was such an eagle eyed young viewer
Is Spaulding on the hoody? Lewis should be included..Some of us were not into the whole Santos and organized crime storyline..Only other one that I can think of was the Reva cloning storyline..lol
Spaulding is definitely on.
@@TheLocherRoom I miss spoke..I meant the Lewis family..Take off Santos and put Lewis..
Ej Bonilla is joining Chicago Pd
Love that and love, E.J.! Thank you for telling me.
