Looks like this is the REV01 rom. It has the censored graphics with the final boss sprite. No boobs for you! :P I always loved this game. The music, and graphics felt very "next gen" in 1989. It still holds up in 2024 too.
I always wondered what the crumbling crucifix was about in stage 5...but then, maybe it was part of the lore in Spell Caster on the Master System, and I never played that game.
The original franchise is based on eastern religion/mythology, something that most westerners in 1990 had no clue about or interest in. Long story short: to sell the game overseas

Kujaku 2 was one of the first games I saw running on the Megadrive/Genesis.
I was floored. The soundtrack still gives me chills to this day.

Turrican meets Ghouls and Ghosts vibes in this game, especially with the really cool alien levels.
The few screenshot I saw about this game seems to don't make it justice it seems like a good one.
