Of course because over the generations D beat became more powerful but remember without Discharge it may never had been. I am the same generation of punk as you (old now lol) but punks today should respect their ancestors who carved it out for them to improve each generation.
First time i saw them was at the Excurtiating Terror house in L.A back in 2001-2002.......... fucken amazing, for me it opened a whole new world of progressive music. From His Heros Gone to Tragedy. Punk for ever!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Man! Great band! I used to hear many swedish, finnish and english bands doing crust punk. But Tragedy is the very first one american band doing crust good as fuck! By the way, don't get me wrong: no borders, no flags! Thanks for posting this video!
Hristo Ignatov Hell, yeah! What's wrong about me? I forgot that Disrupt is an American band! HAHAHA. Thank You! :-) By the way: my favorite crust band is Doom, but my favorite crust album ever is Unrest (Disrupt), fucking master piece (check my videos!)
Tragedy's Darker Days Ahead album is pretty much a metal album. I love all of their releases but to me Darker Days Ahead is their magnum opus, the riffage and composition are absolutely sublime. In all honesty, I think d-beat can get a bit boring and too easy to lean on sometimes and I think what the band did in Darker Days Ahead was creatively genius and crushingly epic after more or less covering any and all straightforward crust/d-beat ground that they could.
Any of the guitar players or bass players know what tuning they use standard to play? Probably use some pretty heavy gauge strings drop A ? Just a guess
Hahahah I saw them at the Blind Pig Ann Arbor in '06 I was sitting right in front... I use a wheelchair to get around, but also can walk on my knees if need be. Anyways, first song I was like 'what the fuck am I thinking' needless to say within 2 seconds I realized I fucked up. My buddy threw my ass and chair over Todd's side of the stage as I escaped a most certain pummeling. Haha

I’m guessing “crust punk” that I keep hearing about is a lot like metal. I’m new to this genre and I’m liking it!
yes and no, instrumentally there's definitely metal influences, but vocally and thematically it's much more like hardcore/punk.
If you like Tragedy check out World Burns To Death
