We should change the name of the event to Champion Chess Team Event or something because this is just like any other chess event. The point of the league was to add global audience to chess but people are just satisfied with this being any other chess event. Just 3K people watching on YT and to think this is even broadcasted on TV, why would any new person watch the same old monotonous commentary.
Are you dumb, the point of broadcasting this on tv is to bring attention of the people. Maybe more of them are watching on tv and that's why there's less watching
The live stream is getting better. When u show bird eye view of the 6 boards, please put name of white first. It is confusing who is white. Even the commentator was confused. :) Also, when a game is over put who won or if it a draw.
Why everyone is being unappreciative in the comment section about board, commentary, boardcast. guyys just chill & enjoy the event, whole marketing team + people like samay & sagar are there who understands the situation much better & this is the 1st season so organizers also knows that mistake will going to happen apart from that popularity doesn't come over night it takes time same is the case of IPL, EPL or any other major tournament how many of you thinks that they became famous in their first season itself. GCL is already trying few new things in chess they just can't go all out because they also knows that they have to take a step at a time! So Just be little more supportive & enjoy
I just have one suggestion. Try adding one more live stream with unmoderated commentary where anything and everything is allowed. That’s how the chess boom arrived in India in the recent years. With Samay’s streams where he wasn’t pulling back his punches and language. Also, maybe add prizes for predictions. Maybe develop an app like dream11 where one can make teams and win real cash. Add trivias in between the stream with prizes.
@@peterdsouza3617 I am aware of that. But new audience don't just magically land on the channel where chess is being broadcasted and stay put. They need a reason to show some interest. Short funny/controversial clips over the internet is a good way to achieve that. I think the players should also be allowed to speak while playing. Although that would be against the FIDE rules but they should try to find a work around. There's no way the same old boring chess will suddenly be more interesting if nothing new is being tried. 4 points with black is a much appreciated novelty, for example. But again, that only interests people who already know chess.
Tbh, chess will never be huge even if it's a grand tournament. People playing against each other playing moves you don't understand? Even if you do understand the moves, it takes a lot of time and effort to understand them in depth. People just don't have time.
@@Samrat_096 Bro don't bother with this Peter Dsouza dude. He has been bugging below every appreciative comment since yesterday. He will call people stupid or clown. He is just an attention seeker.
@@swarooprajpurohit110 I tend to disagree with that. I used to find chess boring too. But I'm hooked to it now. And the current trends show it's booming. More and more people are following chess with each passing day. Especially the shorter formats. As far as understanding the moves is concerned, love commentary and analysis makes it easier for them. Why do you think cricket is popular with the fans? What percentage of the audience do you think understands what a cover drive is or what a fine leg or long off is? People love listening to songs too but how many of them understand vibrato or falsetto or scale, keys, harmonies? It's not the technicalities of a game that makes it likeable. It's the competitiveness, identities, individual performances, commentaries among other things that make them popular. And we've seen that in recent years with chess. The lockdowns helped a lot. Still a long way to go but it's not impossible. We just need to be more creative with it. And it needs more sponsors.
@@Samrat_096 Hmm, I still think that it's not gonna happen. Cricket fans don't need to know what a cover drive is because that's not what they are looking for. It's the action that they want to see. In fact, any outdoor or indoor sport would have fans if it requires physical activity. It is completely different from how chess works. For me, the bullet format is shit because it doesn't accomplish anything. Blitz is fine but the best shorter format would be rapid since it gives you enough time and also the chances of playing an accurate move is higher. Who watches the classical matches? Watching chess isn't feasible for most of the people even if they themselves play the game. Even though people say it is no longer a niche sport, I think it is still the same. To the organizing team, guys if the viewership is not much (i dont know what the numbers are but if they are not what you expected), im telling you as days go by, just go bonkers with the event. Try every possible thing out. Start dancing i dont care. If the viewership is not much, then this is your opportunity to try as many things as possible, coz anything will only make it go up. Do predictions about who you think will win, and if you lose do a forfeit. Like pour ice bucket water on your head, idk. Like a guy sitting there shivering after pouring cold water on their heads, would indeed be cruel but so funny too. If anand mahindra has given you a free hand to have fun with it, then do have fun with it as much as possible. Create funny moments. This is a 'league' of teams, and with the motive of taking it to the masses by making it fun, then DO have fun with it. Stop making it so professional and formal. And when you have a guy like samay with you, you dont need anyone else to tell you things that could make it fun and massy. Ps: Even if you are getting good enough or okayish numbers, i would still suggest you implement this. Like, i want to see a guy sitting soaked there, i dont know. Also samay is not here for a few days so idk if other commentators would be down. But if it was for samay and sagar, they wouldve totally gone for it.

Actually the choosing of colours matter not as much as people think because in the return round robin, you get the opposite colours. So choosing the optimal colours in the first 5 rounds just means you can get a headstart if you win all your games but then from round 6 to 10, the colours will be reversed.
I think we need someone who is good enough at chess to understand which games are boring and which games are exciting to help out with camera switches to games of interest.
Has Gukesh been asked to choose risky variations by his team or it is poor time management or a run of sheer bad luck? Hope he comes back from behind as he usually does in most of the tournaments he participates in. Go Gukesh!👍
