He is so intelligent. All his music comes from his soul. Every song every note is from his heart and soul. Every song he has written you can tell what he was going thru at that time. Who he wrote the song about. His guitar solos come from the same place. You feel his happiness and sadness and etc. are the same way. Its like he communicates thru his music. That is unreal. Its a gift indeed.

I became a true music lover because of David Gilmour, specifically from his performance of "Echoes" in Live at Pompeii video (the original version), back when I was a teenager. Before that, I didn't even care what I listened to.
I'm not a religious or spiritual man and had never had a spiritual experience until I saw this man play live in Belgium in 1994, one of the greatest days of my life

One of the most beautiful, heart breakingly poignant things I've ever seen is here on youtube. David & Rick Wright jamming in his barn studio with his daughter recording, shortly before Ricks' death. Even just free styling they made it sound like something they'd played a thousand times before with Rick seamlessly supporting David wherever he went; and the BEST moment was when the two old masters looked at one another locking eyes. Two masters of their craft, old comrades and brothers in arms sharing their mutual "knowing". I've read that Richard Wright was intensely self-contained & hard to know and that David Gilmour is one of the few people to have really gotten close, you can see their mutual love in that Barn Studio clip. Again THANK YOU SIR for THIS great gift!
David got old, it happens and he looks fantastic for his age now, not to mention he lost all that extra weight he had in the 2000s to early 2010s which is not easy to do at that age.

Interesting opinion. A lot of Floyd fans would say Roger Waters all the way because of the songwriting. I think the band as a whole worked brilliantly. I'm most drawn to Gilmour's smooth voice and of course guitar playing.

God was wonderful to me, and I was able to watch a single show here in Sao Paulo in Brazil! It was a unique experience, and I can say it was the best show ever for me! Thank God, Gilmour exists!

The greatest thrill of my life time was when I got to meet David Gilmour in person! It was in May of 1984 when he was giving his 'About Face' concert at Shea's Buffalo Theatre in Buffalo, New York! 5 minutes before the concert finished (which was the greatest concert I've ever been to), I went outside around the back of the theatre by the stage exit door. He finally came out to board the bus and I got to shake his hand and chat with him for a little bit! Then I followed the bus 2 blocks up and got to meet him again getting off of the bus, going into his hotel! I will never forget that night!
What happened? Well, it is pretty obvious. He aged, like we all do. He got old and he could not care less about spending money to fool father time, which I find refreshing. Not to mention, he is one of the best guitarists in the history of rock and roll music and extremely influential.
If our physical representation and idea of Jesus is influenced by past western painters then yes,nevertheless to be able to play like that he had to be close, thank you for your playing David!!

I've always thought of David Gilmour as such a classy, beautiful person. His life I think is a testament to that.
One of the things I love about David Gilmour is how he has matured over the years. Spiritually, emotionally and musically.
