As a one armed guy that stuff about not seeing the unknown as “impossible” really resonated! Ever since I lost my arm I learned to do things alone while people around me gave pitying looks, and then turned around when I’d figure it out. I always thought, “Wow, I’m glad you don’t have one arm cuz you just told me you wouldn’t even try in my situation.” Saying that, I bought a guitar 15 years ago and after some experimenting I couldn’t remotely make any progress, until last year when I found your vids, and for that you’ll always have my gratitude. You’re doing a great service by putting these vids up, whole generations of kids will find them and some day do things on that fretboard I’m sure neither of us could possibly imagine.
Thank you so much! You have no idea, how grateful I am for this comment! It really means a lot and I'm so glad to know that you're out there showing folks that overcoming is possible, that's what it is all about, we've got to use what we've got and in many cases we've got more than we realize even in the midst of limitation, keep on showing the world that! I'm also really happy to know that my videos have helped with your progress on the guitar, that is amazing and I thank you for checking them out! Wishing you all the very best, keep on rocking, -Dirk
Your channel should be viral! You’re so inspiring and your ability to draw people in with your calming voice - 😳 phenomenal. Add the video editing talent and analogies you use and it’s pure excellence. Keep rocking on and teaching people!!!
Thanks so much! I greatly appreciate your very kind words and for taking a listen! With each and every comment it's getting closer to being found by more folks, so I greatly appreciate it! Wishing you all the best!
Thank you for putting yourself out there. I REALLY appreciate it. I succumbed to a stroke last year, right-sided hemiplegic. I had been teaching myself guitar for the past 5 years, so the stroke was painful in yet another way, loss of music creation. I scoured the internet for some clue as to how to play one handed and lo and behold, I found you. It's giving me hope. I've pulled the guitar back out of the cupboard and am tinkering. Nothing real coming out of it yet but am hopeful, like my recovery, that music will come with time.
Hi there, Thank you so much for your comment! I'm sorry to hear of your stroke and wish you a full and speedy recovery. Don't forget that "Innovation is greater than our Limitations". I know it can feel tough at times, but there is hope and silver-linings to be found in each and every situation and I am sure that the music will find you again. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any guitar questions, I'd be happy to share. Thanks again and all the very best!
Man, you're an inspiration for so many people out there. I feel like I should just stop giving reasons and start doing stuff, Thank you so much! Keep up the good work!
