Hi Brittany, I haven't wore crochet hair in such a long time. when I was wearing crochet hair it was called latch hook. But, I had problems with mine tangling to and I start braiding/twisting my hair in big sections before wrapping it up and going to bed at night.
The best crochet hair is Harlem 125/Kima I think it is Brazilian curl or Brazilian twist. I get sooo many compliments when I wear it but it can be hard to find
I have been wearing this style for years after being introduced to it from Mary K. Bella's channel. I have psoriasis of the scalp, so I have to be able to cleanse my scalp constantly. This hair washes really well. The longer you wear it, the better it looks.
Thank you so so much!!! Freetress deep twist was the first hair I ever tried so seeing you in it is bringing back memories! You maintenance assessment was spot on!
No problem! Your thorough reviews have helped so much of us. Even though I have in braids now, I'm still gonna be watching your countdown videos plotting on my next style lol
As I mentioned on IG, I love Deep Twist! When I first started doing crochet 5 years ago, I did a style of hair once a month. My hair grew so much! I did do a little maintenance but not too much manipulation to my hair. I also like Kima Ripple Deep, FreeTress Beach Curl, FreeTress Island Twist, Motown Tress Jheri Curl just to name a few. I didn’t like FreeTress GoGo Curl or Kima Ocean Wave.
It still look good. That’s what I like about crochets it looks better the older they get. Your hair grew a lot. Thank You for sharing this protective style.
This year was my first time getting crochet braids and I was inspired by Lia as well. My install took approximately 1-2 hrs and I used the Freetress water wave crochet hair. The hair was very low maintenance and I had it in for 6 or 7 weeks. My stylist did a great job hiding the knots and I will get this style again. The crochet style fits you very well just like the wigs that you wear.
You really sold me on the crotchet. The knots showing and the "poodle look" some of them give is a turn off lol but this is such a natural easy style. Love it even more with your edges out, definitely a signature look!
Thank you Meeka! I’m dead at the poodle look 🤣 I stayed away for a long time, but the edges out and the knotless method some people use makes it look so much more natural. Thank you for watching Meeka ❤️
I been following Lia Lavon for years. Her crotchet hairstyles reviews helped me transition from perm to natural. Glad you shared your crotchet hairstyles journey. Waiting for more.
This hair looks just like the blossom wig. This style flows so well and is definitely a signature look. I'm about to get some crochet braids done on myself. Great crochet braid update and wrap-up video.🤗
I tried this free tress deep twist hair a few years ago thanks to watching Lia Lavon and I love it. Getting it installed again tomorrow (professionally). I only keep mine in for about 4 -5 weeks but really love this particular crochet hair..one of my Fav’s❤️.
You did a great job in being honest about Crochet Styles! It’s LOTS OF WORK & NOT BEGINNER FRIENDLY! However, it’s a good teaching tool for those that want to get in their hair. Otherwise, excellent review, and very truthful. Girl, you work all styles out; that’s what I 💜 about U😁😃🥰
Gurl I love crochet braids. I've been wearing them since 1998 thanks to my sister. It definitely made my hair grow. Whether I'm wearing the crochet locs, pre curls, Senegalese or box braids it takes me 2hrs and 32 min to install . I just can't sit for hrs anymore getting my hair braided. ( I did my braid pattern the day before) I only leave them in 2 to 3 weeks bc I'm Tenderheaded, and the longer you leave them in, the "More" matted "My" natural hair gets. Anywhoo I'm glad you liked it for the first time.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️❤️❤️🍷🍷
Nice! I would’ve kept this in another week or two if I didn’t have a few reviews to do. I don’t like sitting for styles anymore either, but I’m gonna sit for box braids. Thank you for tuning in and sharing your experience!
Welcome to the crochet game! I've been crocheting my hair for years. I love the nearly instant gratification. Curly tresses, locs you name it. lol I think that style suits you perfectly! I've seen many reviews and tutorials but NOBODY has ever gone into detail with the maintenance. I had to learn on my own. lol You really are so helpful.
This was such a beautiful style on you! I would 100% agree that this is your signature style! I have never tried crocheted hair, but I just might now! I am Mrs. Protective Style all the time. Sometimes I hv my hair out, but then I cant wait to get it back in a protective style!
Afri Naptural has a water wave texture that is my favorite curly hair to use for crochet. It doesn’t tangle as much as the others and has a really beautiful curl pattern. I plait mine in big sections (about 8 or so) while still wet with mousse at night to prevent matting. Take it down in the morning, fluff, and go.
Crochet was the very first style I learned when I went natural and it helped grow my hair a lot back then. I love the access to your scalp and how natural the hair looks as it gets older. My hair hasn’t been liking the protective styles I’ve been doing lately so I’ll be going back to crochet for a while soon. My favorites are water wave of course, Gogo curl, and bohemian curl all from freetress.
I have been crochet braiding my hair for about 15+ yrs… I have only done it once w/curly hair, but it was half braided @the top! My favorite thin braids have been discontinued forever, but every once in a while I’ll find a shop that has some & I buy them all!!! 😝 Love this look on you!!! I’ll keep watch’n ! I like the ideas i get from your style! Thanks for being on here!
I’m telling you hearts you will be hooked on the crochet styles once you try it. You got to try authentic water wave 22 inch crochet hair and the mayde 20 inch beach curl crochet hair. Those patterns are super natural and beautiful after install 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love this style. I have tried this before about 5 years ago, but I will be doing it again today if I can find my colors. Your videos are always detailed and informative. Thanks for sharing.
I haven't tried deep twist yet but I have tried a good bit of different crotchet hairs. I like to stick with faux locs when I can get someone to braid my hair (I just can't 😫). When I can't, I do braidless crotchet with loose hair. Lia Lavon had me wanting to try Afri naptural (mane concept) Waterfall but I could only find the Afrinaptural cb3p1201 coily water one at the local beauty supply. I got in 12 inches but it comes in 20. It came out looking so natural! You only have to knot it once because of the texture too, not multiple times. I just pineapple at night with a bonnet, you need to. It's not a product friendly curl. I also just cut out the frizzy pieces. It's only been a week so I don't know how long it will last but I love it. I couldn't find any reviews except one who said they separated the pieces but I definitely could not without it being completely frizzy on a few test strands I tried it with water and mousse. That's how I know products won't do much for it I ended up using 4 1/2 packs. They were 3x packs but still not huge amounts of hair in it. I also like big hair. There is a Facebook crotchet group I'm apart of and so is Lia Lavon. I made a post about it.
I’ve never had crochet with loose hair, but have tried premade Sensationnel spring twist and I made my own kinky twists with random Amazon hair before. i like using those bc you can watch and save them for future installs.
This is one of my favorite crochet hair styles. It does look more fine and shiny the first few days but it looks so natural after that. Curlier styles hide the knots right away but they are also add a lot more volume. I like the Freetress Ringlet Wand or Baby Soft curl. I believe both have yaki like texture.
I have been doing crochet since the 90s and gave it another try in 2019. I like to leave my perimeter out and I’ll keep it in for like two months. The longer you have it in- the better it looks- I can’t keep mine in longer than 6 weeks cuz my scalp is officially over being tugged on.
All those years ago when you first did the Blossom wig, I thought of this hair. The didn't have proper highlighted colors in the crochet though. It has evolved more in terms of available colors. There was a synthetic weft version too.
I like your look of the natural edges. I made a crochet U-part half wig-so much easier for me. I just Bobby pin it on and only crochet the front edges and the right-part area of my hair. I rub eucalyptus oil on my hair and scalp each time before I wash it. My hair and scalp smell good after a washing. 😁. Thank you for sharing. Love your videos.
It looks great on you. I've always wanted to try it but I already know that I wouldn't last three days with my hair braided underneath and the thought of having to take them out makes me want to faint. But it's always nice to try something new.
Hey there! I haven’t tried either one. I’m considering Freetress Pearl Curl. I think I have the color I used in the description box. I forgot what mixes she used
it looks nice. I would add some new hair throughout so that it looks fuller as it did in the beginning. I love crochet hair and in my opinion the hair follicles look much healthier and gives a better look than human hair if done correctly.
I love crochet but I have fine hair and have found that it pulls out my edges. I try leaving my front out and starting the cornrows further back but then I get that fro look around the front. I might try just doing headbands in the front
@@TheHeartsandcake90 found it, thanks. What do you think about Lia's newest review RASTA Fri Twist Out Curl Braid crochet? It's so pretty but yours is GORGEOUS! I love the older crochet look with no knots look and you definately achieved it.
If you’re looking for something super natural looking Freetress island twist is the GOAT. Some of the other ‘twists’ they do looks way too shiny and unrealistic especially when roots start ‘growing out’. The island twist texture looks far more natural.

Hey Brittany 😊 You did great with your crochet. It looks great on you as well. I used that hair years ago and it was my go too. Loved it❤️
