Thanks for making/posting that video. I had my spacers backwards. Glad you detailed that part. Well done.

Thanks a lot! This youtube video saved my life! couldn't find anywhere how to order the spacers and wave washers and kept getting a lot of drag.

    hi
    I have a Short question.
How big is the space between the non drive side arm and the actual bearing. I know in between should be the Wave Washer I’m just not sure how far away those parts are ?
    Thanks in advance

Hey you forgot to mention the outer washer type nut that has to be tightened counter clockwise, before tightening the self extracting crank arm bolt. Sorry about the nit pick but my crank arm actually kept falling off before tightening this other washer/nut those little indentations around the 8mm bolt spin with some unknown tool too the left, I swear it tightens the main bolt in place. I think it was FSA's attempt at making Shimano look overly simple.

Yep, mine keeps falling off. Not quite sure what washer you are talking about. Wish there was a picture to go with your comment.

@@kendaniel3967 I'm assuming he means the silver part surrounding the inner bolt with the dibbits to screw it in. I've had a hard time with this crankset falling off and also it's made a noise on the left crank side. I have a replacement because mine has fallen off twice but I haven't installed the new one yet.

Hi. Do you use an all round greaser Park Tool PPL-1? I have also the same cranksett but with many spencers. Should all specer be greased between? Is it something that should be done?

Thanks for the walk-through. How do you like the FSA set so far? I was thinking of replacing my stock shimano with the 105 crank with a little higher gearing -- which would also include replacing the bottom bracket.

+George Ninos The FSA setup is working well. It went 2 full years without needing any maintenance work.

What is the size of the Bottom bracket of that FSA crank?

If you tighten the crank the way this video shows, there is a good chance it will unscrew while riding. This happened to me twice. You need to tighten the nut to about 350 inch pounds. This comes out to be about 30 pounds at 1 foot from the nut. This cannot be done with a small allen wrench.

Will try, mine keeps on working loose. I lost my spacers was wondering if that might be part of the problem.

Excellent job. That should cure the creaking.

I have a shimano 105 hollowtech II bottom bracket. Will these be compatible? And which one do you think is better, the 105 crankset or the FSA BB386EVO? Thanks for your vids. :)

No check out his other video on fitting the EVO386 bottom bracket. The spindle on the FSA is fatter so won't fit a Shimano bottom bracket. I bought one of these chainsets hoping to use a hollowtech BB but had to buy the FSA BB too. If your 105 chainset is ok I wouldn't bother changing for one of these. Both are fine in my opinion but not much point in swapping one for the other

Set this to 38nm and only goes 3/4 round with a hard push of the pedal. I followed installation instructions to a T. Something is not right with this.

@@alexanderflynn4006 never did, this is on my wife’s bike and she’s not complained about it feeling harder to pedal than her old crankset. Next time I have the chain off I will see if a year has made a difference.

Gotta be better than the FSA Vero square taper 50/34 set on my road commuter. That thing is a massive piece of junk.

    • @digbyodell2924
      @digbyodell2924 8 лет назад

For some reason those cranks are fairly pricey for square taper. I looked them up because I have two takeoffs and thought I'd be lucky to get twenty apiece but no, they're worth three times that even with a takeoff discount.

    • @Patrick94GSR

They're around $70 US now, probably because they're now out of production. A couple years ago I recall them going for about $50 or so.
