Thanks for your review, picked this up! Any advice/tips? I have a 980ti and was impressed how good games looked and played on this with a few adjustments to graphics settings. :-)
Just ordered one of these, can't wait! Though I've been using a Acer XB270HU and have been super satisfied with it, the ultrawide factor just seems dope as hell!
@@Tenlov ey man, yeah, got it shortly aftet making the comment here. The monitor is goddamn amazing! I do have slight ips bleed in one corner but its only visible when the monitor is fully black. Other than that, no issues, the monitor is dope ad hell. You gotta have a gpu and cpu to run it properly though.
I've been looking for a monitor for quite a while, today I have the Asus PB278Q from 2013 Thinking of Alienware AW3418DW or Acer Predator X34P The question is, will the ultra wide screens outperform my old screen in image quality? Or is it a wasted of money, except that they are wider?
Is this monitor compatible with “Acer desktop widget”? If not is there any alternative software? All I want is control brightness, saturation etc through software.
Vs the alienware 34"UW this monitor kicks ass and is cheaper while it does it. I've had 2 AW and both had to go back. One was a blatant re-box from dell with no cables and the other had the most un-uniform panel Ive seen, half the screen was a cool blue and the other a warm orange and the bleed and glow was horrendous. Not only that but the anti glare coating leaves ugly shadows and spots and doesn't even fit edge to edge, it literally looks like a protective layer that needs to be peeled. This monitor (Acer) out the box looks amazing in comparison and I love it, I'm keeping it for a few years. I run a 2080ti and usually everything is on ultra so I don't often see 120fps at 3440 but its not far off. My advise to anyone looking at either is to make the saving and get the actual better monitor. People recommend Dells aftercare but so many dodgy panels are going back and Dell are reboxing them and making the panel lotto so much harder, Acers are boxed to the point that you 100% know your the 1st owner. Great vid BTW

I'm finding it so hard to choose between TN, VA and IPS. I have both a 60hz TN and 60hz IPS at the moment and I prefer the IPS because it looks so much better. But I'm looking at 120hz monitors for competitive gaming and I don't know if the better colours are worth the slower response time or if I should get a VA which is in the middle.
If you are gaming on 60hz then you will not have an issue with a 120hz isp at all and would be a godly upgrade... If you dont care about colors then get a TN version with the max refresh they offer and lower ms but i will tell you that you wont know the difference in 4ms to a 1ms when the 4ms is a 120hz gsync display.... I have a 1ms ASUS TN 16:9 1080p 60hz and a 4ms ASUS Rog Swift 16:9 1440p 165hz isp with gsync and my 1440p is beyond the performance then the 1080p even if im at 100fps on my 1440p gaming display. Im not saying isp is on par to the best tn or va but if you're use to 60hz then any 120hz isp, tn or va would be a upgrade no matter what.
@@stuart3712 I ended up buying the Samsung CHG70 for it's extremely low input lag (16:9, 1440p, 144hz with strobing, 4ms VA, Freesync2). The ghosting is pretty minimal even compared to my 60hz TN and with strobing the picture is extremely clear even if there is 1-2 frames of ghosting and it looks better than my IPS as well. I may end up returning it though because mine has a white pixel in the centre, mildly noticeable bleed along the bottom and the stand doesn't fit on my desk so I'd need a vesa mount. Plus after using my girlfriends 110hz ultrawide going back to 16:9 is pretty unimpressive. I may just fork out double the cost for an ultrawide with the specs I want.
Ive not run it for weeks at 120hz but for extended sessions and had no problems. I tend to run it at 100hz most of the time just to be on the safe side, as it's my new daily driver and is used for 10+ hrs a day. Fairly easy to bump it up for competitive stuff when required, though. More generally I've not heard of many issues with displays running overclocked for long periods.
My X34 developed a blemish on the screen, Acer offered a X34p, the extra curve is better and the joystick rules, hope this one last longer than 8 months
I managed to get the alienware for $830, it's on the way. From my research, it seems the alienware is the best, but I like the looks of the stand of the Acer more. I hope you get it soon for your take on it.
Yeah, I've heard good things too. It tends to be a bit more expensive, so I still felt comfortable recommending the Acer, but definitely looking forward to trying the Alienware.
