When so called 'fans' unfairly bash away at other Journey singers, I point them to this and another clip of Steve solo in the early 90's. Lowered keys, singing low harmonies rather than melodies, audience participation etc - all the things aging singers do to rest and/or avoid high notes they can no longer reach. This idea he'd have ended up any different than any Journey lead after him is nuts. Look at the pity or outright derision David Coverdale got as he weakened with age - THAT's what you wanted for Steve??? *There will never be another Steve Perry. In his prime the 'voice of steel' took us places that will stay with us forever.* That said, this clip is Steve at the end of YEARS of touring one of the hardest vocal catalogs in Rock history. Songs and a schedule that combined with life, health and age, eventually drained himself and every Journey vocalist after him. Steve Perry 'onlyfans' need to get over themselves, and get off Arnel Pineda's case. Kudos to him for starting in his FORTIES and lasting this long. He's served the legacy longer than anyone. Respect has been hard earned, and more than due.
I agree regarding the unfair bashing. The diminishing of a voice due to use comes with overuse and age. While Arnel has performed with the band longer, Steve actually performed more shows in a shorter time frame. Regardless, the end was the same.
@@bb-gc2tx I was speaking generally about all singers. Age usually matures and lowers the octave range. In Steve's case, it was over touring driven by their manager. But his voice began to get the beginnings of that rasp by the the 3rd or 4th Journey album.

Steve is just an amazing Dude, all the way around. I was never a super fan. I can't say enough good things about Steve and Journey. I think they quit too soon.
Aside from everything else, hadn't Steve Perry stopped touring with Journey? Steve Perry and Neal Schon's performance here together as Journey came about as part of the tribute to the legendary late San Francisco promoter, Bill Graham. I agree about the wear on Steve Perry's voice. It seems a natural consequence considering the weight of the Journey song catalog and the frequency of their touring. Also, I doubt Steve Perry, Neal Schon, and Jonathan Cain spent much or any time rehearsing for the gig.
He was referring to the final show of the Raised On Radio Tour in Anchorage Alaska on February 1st 1987. That was his last official full concert with Journey. This here is not an official concert. This was just the guys getting together in 1991 one last time to play a few songs in tribute to the late concert promoter Bill Graham. (Of course they all got together to record the Trial By Fire album in 1996 but that was all in studio stuff and no live performances)

It was just a different time back then and Journey were not as popular as they are now. This is the early 90's.
right?
You Perry loons are hilarious. Fact: The vast majority of people don't give one shit about Steve Perry. Period. And if you had been there that day, you'd know almost no one even wanted to hear or see Journey. Their performance was the worst of the day, by a long shot.
I wish I could have been there!🙌🔥
Once Steve left the band....*so did I*...!
And they, like everyone else, don't give a shit.
At this concert it was announced that there were no microphones aimed at the crowd. Their participation was there, bu no audible recording of the crowd was made.
Timeless…never will there be another Steve Perry.
Steve Perry will always be the greatest lead singer. Journey was Steve Perry. Journey was magical.
A gifted man with a beautiful voice
Am from the philippines, steve perry is the best
no one can beat the original singer .but the band journey need to survive .its the bands name matters .its a matter of continuity.some bands lost vocalist and they stop .thats why the name journey is on going and never stopped .Journey never stop believing.
Perry's resonance and tone are there dispite having a cold and fever during this performance.
Talk about hitting the jackpot. Steve and Neil are journey! The other guys have cashed in till this day!!!
Wow he much have been so emotional that day. You can tell in his voice
Steve why just why did you have to leave😩if you would have continued Journey would have been still one of the most powerful groups playing right now! 😔
Five years later, he would release "When you love a Woman"...one of my top 3 Perry songs!
Steve is just an amazing Dude, all the way around. I was never a super fan. I can't say enough good things about Steve and Journey. I think they quit too soon.
Sad! But he still is making music!♥️
They were already bringing the pitch down to accommodate his voice..
Love this! This clearly wasn't a full blown Journey concert, missing bassist and drummer. Would love to know the details of this last performance.
Was lucky to see both nites of their Raised on the Radio tour in Phoenix at (said in radio promotion voice) VETERANS MEMORIAL COLISEUM!!
He looks like a native indians and the voice never cease to amaze me..
It's said he was sick here ...he sure sounded great in 1994 and 1996....and still sound great.....it's hard to sing when your sick..
Always so handsome!
Steve said in interview he was so emotional his voice sounded like it,also if crowd would have been pumped up
O Steve Perry está a cara do André Matos nesse vídeo! Parecidos demais eles são!
No one will ever sing like him even now with such heart and passion ❤️
Legendary
Second to last song tells it all. The toll it took on him touring. Them the last song about his home town where he longed to be.
May I carry the legacy…. Journey Rules!

This was not their last show. Steve Perry always had said his last show with Journey was in Alaska. His words not mine.
That's when Journey ended, Steve was Journey
The BEST…
Love Steve's voice seen Journey many times but not with Steve he is Journey always
