Hey everyone, I need to issue an update on point #1. The Backbone people have since released a PS version for Android that works with the official PS app. Didn’t think they would do it, but they did. So I stand corrected.
Great videos, just finished watching all your backbone videos. Out of everything, the real reason I don't see myself getting a backbone, is that I don't want to take off my case. I use a one of those two part cases with a rubber inner section and a hard plastic shell, and it's a pain to get it back on.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, the case thing is a deal breaker for some. I have a single piece case that’s easy to put on and take off, but anything more complicated than that would be a huge pain to use with the Backbone. The Gamevice Flex might be a better fit for you because it supports cases.
I’ve been using this backbone one for a while. In my opinion the price should be lower than ps5 controller since it doesnt have adaptive trigger and heptic feedback. But i rly love this accessory. I could play my ps5 and xbox game anywhere now as long as the internet connection is fast and stable. It could easily fit in my pocket. 80 percent of my time im gaming with this backbone although i have LG oled to play with. Maybe im too old to play games for long hour to sit on the couch though. Now i can play it during lunch time at work. Playing on the bed and also while travelling. This thing is fantastic!
I like it for a lot of the same reasons! But there are definitely some flaws and usage details people should be aware of before they buy. Totally agree on the price though, and I wish it was closer to feature parity with the DualSense.
In all fairness but all of these points except for the remoteplay part on android are actually listed on the Backbone official homepage including the optional subscription.
i really do like my backbone!! i used it to do most of my replay of God of War last year when I was on lunch breaks at work. however, my only big complaint is that there’s no substitute button for the touch pad on the DualSense controller. Most games I play require pressing that a lot, and it’s very frustrating having to double tap my touch screen to do so, which makes all the on screen buttons pop up again 😅
Yeah, I wish it had more of the DualSense’s features too. But now that Project Q exists, there’s a (likely more expensive) alternative to the Backbone that has these features-except for the touchpad, bizarrely.
Yes, you can stream PS and Xbox games to your phone with Remote Play. In fact, you can do that right now without a Backbone. Just Bluetooth your controller to your phone and download the Remote Play app PS or the Xbox app and give it a shot. Then you can decide if a Backbone would enhance your setup or not.
@@latestagegaming oh whattt?! if i can play resident evil on the go like that it might be worth it for me cant lie, thank u so much ill check the remote play out
Alright, here they are. There's finally an official PlayStation edition for Android. I just got the backbone today and it's really nice to be able to use remote play on android using the official app without having to use a controller and a clamp. There's some things I like about my gamesir x3 better though, but I need more time with the backbone.
Thanks for watching! When you’re connected to a PS via Remote Play, you should have all the features of the PS with the exception of Share Screen and Share Play. But otherwise everything should work as normal, so PS parties and online gaming should work. That’s as long as you have a nice strong connection to your PS.
I’m assuming you mean for a PS5 or PS4? If so, then no, this controller can’t directly control a PlayStation. It can only connect through Remote Play, so I don’t think it would work for local split screen.
This thing has a carrier case or something? I mean 99 dolars for it and no rumble haptic triggers or touch panel even no ps button lol, the sticks are like switch joycons right? Idk why its a license product by sony.
Nah, they’ve since released a PS version for Android that works with the official PS app. Didn’t think they would do it, but they did. So I stand corrected.

Clear & Concise review. Android users have to think twice before making disappointing purchase decision. GJ.

I've been on the fence about buying one of these, thank you for your videos.
Happy to help!
I think I’ll just stick with my switch…
Fair!

i know u can play gamepass games, is it possible to stream your own games that you own?
Yes, you can stream PS and Xbox games to your phone with Remote Play. In fact, you can do that right now without a Backbone. Have you done any comparison videos between these controllers?
I’m hoping to compare the Backbone with the GameVice Flex, Razer Kishi V2 etc. Hopefully soon!
I love my backbone actually…but man every single game you showed looked awesome! List please 🙏🏽
Will do! It will take a bit of time so watch this space later tonight.

Thanks for the sub! 🙏
Do you need to have Xbox game pass to access the cloud gaming on the backbone
Yes, you’ll need Game Pass to use Xbox Cloud Gaming with the Backbone

Glad the official PS Remote Play app for Android is finally compatible with non Dual Sense controllers!
Hey bud! I have a question….does the backbone have all the features of the ps? Aside from games like ps party and online gaming.
Thanks for watching! When you’re connected to a PS via Remote Play, you should have all the features of the PS with the exception of Share Screen and Share Play. But otherwise everything should work as normal, so PS parties and online gaming should work. That’s as long as you have a nice strong connection to your PS.
Yea I’m definitely sticking with my switch and wii u
Ok. Any recommendations if not the blackbone for android ?
It depends. If you want more comfortable grips and better portability, it’s the Gamevice Flex. Need customizable buttons? Go with the Razer Kishi V2.
Can it be used as a 2nd controller when playing with friend in local split screen?
I’m assuming you mean for a PS5 or PS4? If so, then no, this controller can’t directly control a PlayStation. It can only connect through Remote Play, so I don’t think it would work for local split screen.
I can buy one for around 80 bucks should I do it I want it for my redmi 13c(android)
do you think playing remote play could effect on my iphone battery health?
I’m honestly not sure! For what it’s worth, I’ve been using it with my iPhone for a while and I haven’t experienced any battery health issues.
So if I do not own a ps5 I shouldn’t wanna buy a ps5 backbone version cause mostly I wanna play cod mobile but the PlayStation app thing looks dope to
So would the backbone work without backbone plus?
Yes
what game is that at 2:45 ?
Chained Echoes. Thanks for watching!
If I'm being honest $39 a year isn't to bad. It's only 19 more than the $20 a year the base version of Nintendo switch online is.
This thing has a carrier case or something? I mean 99 dolars for it and no rumble haptic triggers or touch panel even no ps button lol, the sticks are like switch joycons right? Idk why its a license product by sony.
I used the backbone last night to play final fantasy 16 and found it to be an enjoyable experience if you cant use your ps5 conventionally.
is there any difference between buying the backbone from the amazon website or the official backbone website?
I’m honestly not sure, but it looks like there isn’t much difference aside from the ability to use Amazon Prime (if you have it.)
Wait, they sell an android version that doesnt work??
Nah, they’ve since released a PS version for Android that works with the official PS app. Didn’t think they would do it, but they did. So I stand corrected.
It’s actually decent for me I enjoy it buttons are a bit clunky but it’s worked well for me
I like mine too! But there are a few details people will want to be aware of, especially if they really care about these things.
PS backbone for android just released this week.
Yeah, I’m surprised. I hope Android users can use the official PS Remote Play app with this.
@Late Stage Gaming & Tech I was surprised, too.
Debating for the past week if the backbone is even worth it
I'm watching this with a Backbone strapped to my phone. A bit too late for that.
Brought one on Amazon and shipped it right back.... no button mapping 😢 gamesir x2 pro a lot better
Guess I'll stick with 8bitdo pro 2, then.
It's perfect for playstation portable emulator
Android doesn't have rumble support so it wouldn't matter if the backbone has rumble support
Yeah, agreed. Would be nice if it did.
@@latestagegaming it's ridiculous that in 2024 there still hasn't even been a mention of it from Google
I never liked haptic, so that downside is fine
I regret buying a backbone to be honest
Sorry to hear that, but I totally understand. The device definitely has both pros and cons.
